I am an Ob/Gyn and would encourage anyone not to go into any specialty for the money. Also, do not compare your salary, specialty, or job to others. You decide what kind of career you want and shouldn't compare to others. My family is more important to me than my salary or even my job/career. Also, as your life changes your priorities will change. Before I got married and had a baby, I had different priorities. Now my family is the most important. I do not want to live back on my life with regrets or what if because I was chasing money or my career.
Couldn’t agree more.
I agree too! It’s important to go choose a specialty based on your priorities and desires out of life. I am considering family medicine.
@Fry 9 You are mistaken. Up until a year ago, I was the only breadwinner in my family. And my husband only makes 1/3 of what I make. That doesn't even matter because we handle our finances together.
I also disagree with you because I continue to be the main source of income in our family. As Joy said - we look at finances as a family so it doesn’t make a difference. Just because the majority of people you know have men as the main breadwinner - does not make that a reality. Unless you studied econ and analyzed population vs community data then you just pulled that number of 90% out of thin air.
Having just matched into Emergency Medicine residency just last month..I will say there is NO EASY SPECIALTY...being a doctor in any capacity is a privilege that takes tremendous sacrifice and perseverance..if you make it into a specialty you love..you have won! Lastly...being a licensed/board certified physician ...you can literally make as much money as your heart desires independent of specialty...work 2 jobs, work locum, consulting, adjunct professor, etc...its just about what youre willing to sacrifice...so in essence dont let anyone or anything chose the life you want..you only get one.
Congratulations on the match!!
Motherhood looks so good on you 😍
Thank you 😬
Thanks for clearing up so many things in this video!! :) I love the idea of working part-time. On one of your next videos, it would be great if you can talk about the different FM fellowships! :)
So so many! EM, palliative medicine, high risk OB, sports medicine, Hospitalist, neuromuscular medicine just to name a few!
Thank you for this video! When I had chosen family medicine for residency I felt like I had to justify my choice to other people. Family medicine is so amazing. I like the fact that I can have continuity of care with a diverse patient population and not restrict my knowledge to certain organ system. Also, if you end up wanting to concentrate in a certain area of family medicine there are so many fellowships out there.
Yes!! Totally agree. I didn’t even touch on that but there are so many fellowships that are available
Wow! You just articulated why I want to go into family medicine.
Thank you for helping me decide on FM. There is a lot of stigma on going into FM and I had hesitations before this video for those specific reasons. I am now more settled that this is the right career path for me as an MD.
You are doing a good thing. I have a Fm but he also delivers babies.he does it all but he doesn't do like heart surgery. c secs yes but heart surg no. He was top 5 in his school and he's very smart. He chose to go into it because he knew that is where he could be his best. I think some of the best doctors go into FM because you have so many different ppl coming in for dif things and that would make it more interesting!
Everyone tells me FM usually ends up being a few basic cases and gets boring, which sometimes makes me apprehensive about going into it. Still planning on it though ;)
Yes! We need more FM docs. I’ve seen lots of acute cases. You can also do urgency care for more acute cases or do a fellowship in ED if later that’s what’s you’re in to
Honestly I shadowed a derm and they dealt with acne and eczema all day. Every specialty will have cases that they routinely do. Does that make that specialty inherently boring? No.
Do the specialty that makes you feel happy because at the end of the day it isn't hard to find negatives in everything.
Niccolò Machiavelli how did you get job shadowing opportunities? I'm trying to shadow this summer but I have zero connections :/
Niccolò Machiavelli I'm going to try and just walk into my family doctors office and ask her about opportunities.
@@carter5007 Yes! That's what I did. It's really hard finding shadowing opportunities. I talked to my dermatologist after a checkup and she referred me to one of her friends! It's easiest if you contact somebody you know who can throw in a word for you 😊
I inspire to be like you when I become a doctor
You are so inspiring. Can see it in your eyes how passionate you are in FM and how caring of a physician you are!!
Hey Jenny! Just wanted to pop in and say how much I love your videos ! I'm in my freshman year of undergrad and I know I am going to go in to medicine but I'm not sure what yet and your vids are so insightful! I love how you show that it's possible to have a great family and a great career, super inspiring !!!
I’ve commented before, but i wanted to again because I LOVE our family care practitioner. She takes care of my 18 month old, myself, and will also care for my newborn when he makes his arrival in July. I have hypothyroidism and she manages that better than my endocrinologist did because she looks at the whole picture of my health. She has taken such good care of my son in his first year and a half of life and never made me feel like i was being a crazy first time mom. It was also super helpful during my son’s first few months of life to see her so often for my son’s check ups, but she also checked in with me to see how I was doing not only physically but mentally! I 100 percent would tell anyone who is hesitant to go check out a family care provider!! Family care providers are angels on earth and I so appreciate what you guys do!
Thank you for sharing your story. It makes me so happy because that’s the environment I believe all family practitioners try to provide.
i love when you list off your skill set towards the end!!! like YESSSSSSS MAMA YOU'RE OUT HERE!
As an RN, I worked for a family medicine doctor for a year. It was very interesting and I learned so much. The patients really appreciated having a great dr to trust their family care to. Our patients became family.
Yes!! Some of patients even give me hugs after their visit cause they see me as part of the family.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. I had learned a lot of these same misconceptions from so many people. I’m currently in the fifth week of my core and have fallen in love with the specialty especially after learning all of the possibilities moving forward. I’ve definitely found my niche.
P.S: your baby boy is way too adorable
Yay! Was waiting for this video! I’m starting medical school in July and believe in OMT and want to be a family Medicine physician! So grateful to have you to look up to.
Yay!!! Congratulations on your med school acceptance. It’s going to be so exciting
I will never understand why Family Medicine gets a bad rep. In a specialty you learn it and things become repetitive. Family Medicine, you never know what is walking into the door. The smallest “clue” can equal a huge illness.
All the specialist always say they’re not smart enough to be a generalist because there is just so much to know!
Jenny you are always an inspiration... keep going...you are inspiring many of us & we love you😄😊.
Looking graceful as always.
TYSM 🥰 your support feels amazing
Really appreciate your honesty and vulnerability. I'm a mom of two, and I prefer the pace of fam med. Before family and marraige I would've been in ER if I had chance but each specialty is as valuable as the next. All the best in residency.
The way your answered the questions with humor and maturity is great! 😊
Thanks! 🥰
Thanks for this video! I'm definitely considering family medicine and your insights are always appreciated :)
Yay!! We need more FM docs
I am doing Training in General practice in UK, I think it's similar to family medicine in US. I have finished my hospital posting and now working in GP surgery and I love it. The variety and trust the patients have in you is the most rewarding compared to hospital medicine. Loved the video and answering the assumptions.
Thanks Jenny for this amazing video!!! I have been struggling throughout this year so much trying to figure out what I want to do!!! And I’ve finally made my mind after a long time of struggle. I think family medicine is it for me 💓
Yay!! So happy to hear that! We need more primary care providers ❤️
I love how your were honest by saying i cant perform surgery without looking down on yourself
I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE A DO! Amazing. Thanks for this video. I'm starting residency next month and love your videos!
Congratulations! Such an exciting time. Scary but so much growth. Good luck!
I’m in medical school right now, but I have much experience as a paramedic then a flight/ critical care paramedic. I’m in a US MD program and am truly considering family medicine for the reasons she listed.
I don’t see family medicine as a “non-elite” field. I’ve shadowed many FM physicians and it is not a boring specialty at all.
I appreciate family medicine and the physicians who chose it. Some people chose FM even with amazing board scores because it is an amazing specialty.
Congratulations on your FM residency it is an amazing decision. You’re going to change a lot of lives!
Thank you soooooooo much for clarifying the hours as an attending!
Loved this video! Thank you
You did change my mind. Thanks for the video.
In my rural area, everyone loves the family medicine doctors in our community hospital and most people treats them like a king/queen❤
Been watching you for years. You are my inspiration
Thank you for your support 🥰
“i’m gonna do those knees” lolol made me laugh 😂
Definitely changed my mind about family medicine! Thank you!
Yay!!
Thank you for your video! I came from a family with doctors (10+ specialties ) that includes from Plastic Surgery to Internal Medicine, but among all, I like Family Medicine and Internal Medicine because these branches are so broad and covers almost everything.🙂
Thank you somuch, that video is honest and amazing :)
Hi Jenny, I know this Doctor who runs 2 Family Practice clinics and is also Board Certified in Palliative Care(1 year Fellowship). He is also the Hospice Director. Let me tell you, he makes a lot more than $600,000.00/year. I know because he's my Buddy:) As you said, all depends on how much you want to work. I am happy for you. Best to you and your family in your career!!!
I think palliative care is so amazing because you just get to spend time talking to patients about life!
Thanks for sharing your views on family medicine! Currently doing rotations, and considering specializing in family medicine. Blessings and prosperity to you and your family! 🙏🏾
Yay!! I hope you enjoy it. It’s a lot different when you’re actually practicing because you know a lot of the patients and build relationships
I don’t believe you have to justify why you went into this field. You chose to make that decision, as a Radiology Assistant, my salary and goals are for my own interest and no one else.
Be the great Family Medicine doctor and do you!
Don’t let the people or viewers of YT let you dictate your decisions!
Thank you for this video. Looks like I had many misconceptions from the outside looking in about Family Medicine. Continued success on your path!!
Jenny,. You are truly the Doctor.
No doubt you are going to become a great doctor!!!
Thank you! 🥰
I'm so close to choosing the residency I want to get into, thanks for sharing your thoughts on Fam Med. You've definitely debunked a lot of myths.
love this video! i'm starting medical school this summer and I'm super interested in pursuing family medicine :)
First congratulations! And yay!!!! Family medicine
Jenny you’re awesome and love your channel. Truly wish more physicians were like you!❤️ by the way when are you finished with residency?
In a little over a year!!
I love your videos Jenny ❤️
I was assigned by by insurance provider to a doctor who’s a DO. In an effort to better understand her background, I recently went and educated myself on the distinction between a DO and an MD.
Although, there have been some hiccups in our doctor-patient relationship, I haven’t given up on her yet.
For instance, she played a part in me having abstained from alcohol for the past two years. So that’s a pretty significant win. A previous doctor made a subtle suggestion that consuming alcohol was working to aggravate certain conditions, but I didn’t latch onto it.
And until this video, I didn’t know that OMT was an actual practice unto itself.
As a man, it’s oftentimes awkward having a female GP, but there are pluses too. Sometimes it really tests me as a man to stay on board. It requires quite a bit of introspection to process some of the feelings that we’ll up.
Keep going though. Some of us male patients might be difficult in the beginning. But over time, you can potentially win some of us over.
Thank you Jenny for answering these questions. I really wanna do D.O. over the MD for the OMT component, i love the hands on approach to treatment. I’m interested in cardiology though, but would love to still work in family medicine somehow
Internal medicine might be a better option if you’re interested in cardiology!
My boyfriend had a 248 and chose family medicine and got sooooo much crap for it. His own school told him that he was “wasting his talents” and everyone telling him how anybody who dreams of going into a competitive, high paying speciality would kill for that score. And tbh I’m a bit guilty of having that misperception subconsciously too. However, starting medical school myself, I truly see why he loves it so much, it is literally the best specialty imo, and I wish people didn’t have such negative preconceptions of it before their rotations. I’ve seen several people at my school, even those who want to pursue highly competitive specialities, absolutely love their FM rotations more than anything, but care too much about what other people think, and it kinda breaks my heart. Like you said, there are those that are amazing at the clinical side of things, kill it in the classroom, love FM, but have always been bad at standardized tests, so there’s always two sides of the spectrum. I definitely appreciate you discussing this ❤️
I think you touch a good point as well. I think too often people are afraid of how they are perceived. I don’t know to what extent it may affect others. But I know it definitely affected me when I got all the assumption responses! Lol
so true, lots of people choose what they dont want,,,, because they are afraid what people will say.....
Thank you chi Jenny !!
thank u for this video :) about the money thing, it's great that u included being contended and for ur family. about the board score, here in our country, we dint usually ask that hahaha thanks :) as long as we "cross the line" :) & definitely , it is exciting coz u are going to meet all the patients :)
Love the information you generously provide for us. The only concern i have about pursuing FM is the evolving other health professions such as NP and PA. What is your take on the future of FM in regards to competing with NPs and PAs? Some states, NPs can own and operate their own primary care practice and bill under their own number.
Med student here. This was really helpful. Thanks
You’re Glowing!!!!
God bless you Jenny
Hi Jenny, I always enjoy your videos and thank you so much for what you’ve shared with us. I was wondering if you see PAs/NPs “threatening” the field of FM? Or any other field? Do you feel that they will “take” the jobs of physicians, and that the health care arena is shifting toward an mid-level provider model? I am a D.O. student and secure in my goals, but I keep hearing things like the above from currently practicing physicians. Thank you for your perspective. Lots of virtual love for you and your family.
I am expecting my first baby. I have a wonderful family practitioner. I have decided for her to be my Baby's Doctor vs going to a Pediatrician. She knows my health history, and really is a calm and very caring physician. I know she will be great for my Daughter.
That is beautiful ❤️ congratulations on being a new mom!
Enjoyed your video! You are looking really pretty and glowy!
Everyone has been telling me it’s the pregnancy glow ... I think it’s just my highlighter 😂
I find the referrals assumption funny because in my 22 years my primary care doctor never referred me out unless it was for eye care so I needed to see a Optometrist. I actually had to find my own Psychiatrist and OBGYN because I didn't feel like my PCP was in depth enough. I think a good PCP should know their limits and know when to refer out!
I,m img obgyn preparing for step 2ck, hope to match into obgyn in 2020, I really love obgyn, if not, FM because FM has option on fellow for women health. So some people do not want FM but some want ,I personally don"t feel like internal medicine....I love obgyn and I"m searching paths that will end on obgyn :)
Hi Jenny (: I'm a 3rd year medical student, and I'm interested in family medicine. I was wondering if you could make a video about what your thought process was in choosing the residency program you are in a now and how to go about choosing a residency for family medicine
Subbed! I'm a prospective D.O. student and I really am thinking of FM. How did you know what FM residencies train you on wide range of procedures?
I’m planning on starting in family medicine once I graduate in August 2020 from PA school. I want to go into other specialties later (specifically GI) but doing family medicine first will give me a great background to start off with and to learn about all different types of things.
I would just like to thank you for clarifying these issues. I am very interested in Family Medicine and this video helped me reaffirm my interest in that specialty. Could you speak more on the role of family medicine inpatient vs outpatient? I didn't know that family medicine patients can work inpatient (eg. Are they hospitalists?). Thanks!
I’m doing a video on that next week! You can work as a Hospitalist as an FM doctor. It will be harder for you to find a job just because you’re competing against internal medicine. A lot of my internal medicine colleagues are having a hard time themselves finding Hospitalist jobs. It would be easier in more rural areas. Harder in urban cities.
Speak for yourself, colleague! My family residency actually has a good lifestyle. Multiple electives built in and most weeks are between 45 to 65 hours. Yes, be jealous! Har Har!
Board score is just a number, I guess what matters is that how you care about your patients, how much time u give, how you reassurance them, how compassionate and empathic you are as a physician
👏🏼 well said !
Hi Jenny and thanks for sharing this video I had applied for Fam Med residency and I was hesitated and still but you make it some how clear could you please tell us more about fam med fellowships and sub ☺️
Jenny: *tells us everything she can do in FM*
Me: Yaaass girl shine
Background noise got the like and a new subscriber... 😍
Yeey ~ Thx Doctor J 😚 🎈
🥰
Which part of the country are you practicing in?
Would be great to hear about the differences of practicing in different parts of the country!
Thanks for the great vid!!
I’m on the west coast. I don’t know from personal experience but I did hear that we as family medicine physicians do more ourself in our clinics as compared to east coast where everyone sees a specialist.
Third one is amiability
Thanks Doc 💓💓❤️
My daughter just matched into FM and she finds out tomorrow where! Her partner who is one year below her in med school is planning to go into FM and specialize in sports medicine. His dad is an ortho surgeon and and very supportive of his son’s choice of FM.
If students are interested in learning more about FM as a specialty and the scope of this amazing specialty consider coming to the AAFP National Conference this summer in Kansas City! You can also meet residents from programs across the country and see where you could go in FM!
Do you have to be a current medical student to attend? I'm an incoming M1 this fall
That’s awesome!! Thanks for sharing
I believe you just have to be a member of the AAFP which is FREE for students. Apply at www.aafp.org/membership/join/student.html. Then you'll have to register for the conference itself which does come with a fee. Let me know if you run into any problems! I'd love to see you there!
Check out the AAFP website for national scholarships OR contact your state's academy of family physicians chapter for state scholarships. There are tons available!
You should just have to be a member of the AAFP! Go check it out online!
Mom boss!! 😍😍😍
I think you are going to be a great Family Physician. I had a great Family Physician until she moved out of state. Since then I am on my second one. The first left the practice I go to, the one I am going to now is not great. She refers for everything! I sometimes question her knowledge since she doesn’t handle much. I wish I could find another great Family Doctor. Our Family Doctor that moved knew our family. She was invested in us as patients. This one keeps asking the same questions over and over about us even after three + years seeing her. I don’t know if she is disinterested or just overwhelmed. If you end up practicing in our area in Western Washington I would move our family to you in an instant.
I’m so sorry to hear that. Very often physicians feel burnt out and it trickles down and affects our patients. It’s the system that we need the change. I really hope you find a physician that is the best fit for your family
Jenny Le I sure we will. I just need to do my homework to find another Family Physician on the Eastside in Redmond, Kirkland or Bellevue.
Are you planning on doing a fellowship after your residency? Just curious. A video about what fellowship options for FM are available would be a nice topic!
Great idea! I originally considered high risk OB and sports medicine but now I think I just want to finish residency and work lol
@@drjennale can you work for a few years and then do one of those fellowships later? or do you have to do fellowships right after residency?
You can always do a fellowship later. I had a preceptor who went back and did a sport medicine fellowship after practicing for years. I suspect it is may be harder but not impossible.
Board scores are like MCAT scores. Higher scores get you into more competitive places but your overall profile is looked at to get accepted. Scores don’t mean anything. It just indicates your performance on randomly generated standardized questions. It doesn’t signify your overall performance in real world Medicine where you don’t have a the answer choices in front of you
What’s the difference between family med and internal med - pediatrics?
Hi! Ma'am.... You said that you're planning to work only on part time basis. So, ma'am does that mean only OPD clinics or it includes IPD admissions also?
Thanks for the informative video! Do you have formal OMT didactics incorporated in your residency training, mentors who are proficient in it and can guide you to improve your manipulation, or is it the resident's volition that determines the amount of OMT performed on patients?
I'm looking at different FM residencies and would prefer one that has strong OMT instruction but wondering if my manipulation skills will wane if I don't have faculty that do it regularly.
We have 3 preceptors who did a NMM fellowships. I definitely feel like they have helped me develop and build upon my knowledge base. We also have incoming MD residents next year where we have develop a didactic curriculum.
I do know DO physicians who went through MD residencies and still practice OMT in their practice. There are plenty of opportunities for further education such as conferences and courses. You just have put in the effort.
@@drjennale This is helpful since I'm kind of at a crossroads about which residency to choose!
I think it’s mostly people not in medicine and those “aspiring” to medicine that contribute to the negative assumptions. No physicians speak poorly of family docs, because fam docs LITERALLY do everything and know a bit from every specialty. Family docs make the world of medicine go round. They are the gateway to patients getting all other specialized care.
Excuse me doctor, could you tell me if the unemployee rate is higher than other specialties? Thanks you much by anansweri...
How much time you have left in residency? Also, I agree with you that family medicine doctors still make a lot of money. Even if the pay is in the 100s for some, that is still enough money to live comfortably! It is still more money than what most of the population makes. I don’t get why people think that they “need” to make over $300,000 a year. As someone who has lived in poverty pretty much all her life, I can tell you that I can live more than comfortably with anything over $100,000, specially if my income is not the only one in the house.
I still have a little over a year left before I finish residency ... so close and yet so far
Can u make video about how u balance residency and life with kids... I am writing my steps.. I am a mother.. I am scared how ppl manage work vs life
this is not an assumption but a question :) do familly medicine and emergency medicine have a certain amount of time between each patient you see to diagnose, questions a patient? i often feel like my familly doctor or even the emergency doctor is in a hurry and answers my questions very quick.....
love your channel and your little familly and you explain and answer your questions very clearly :) :)
Usually, each patient is given a 20 minute time slot in outpatient family medicine. That’s why you’re always informed to come 10 minutes early to check in. But if my patient ever needed me to spend extra time with them, I do not hesitate to do that.
There is always a line in the ED. People can come in critically ill and need attention. ED doctors also try to get relative healthy people home quickly due to so much exposure to germs in the ED. So many people has the flu right now showing up to the ED. Would have for you to get sick with a virus when you came in for something else.
Jenny Le thanks for your reply :) i always wondered that question for some odd reason lol 🤷♀️
Parang I love family medicine na this is the sign
♥️♥️♥️
I would just like to ask, when will I start earning money as an aspiring doctor? Do we have salary while under residency training?
Wow!! That's crazy! You know in Israel, only a surgeon /er doctor will suture an injury. And an IUD will be inserted only by an obgyn doctor. I find it very interesting that family Medicine is so diverse in the USA.
I'm a med student at my last year and studying for finals currently. So you were my break during breakfast and I really like your videos! Thank you!!!!!!!
Do you feel like specialist in Israel are over worked or have high burn out rates? I personally feel like if a surgeon had to do all the simple things like suture a wound, it would take away time from doing the bigger surgeries and traumas. Same with other specialties.
@@drjennale thank you so much for answering 😀. And YES, there are high levels of burnout in the medical industry here, the residents, no matter the specialty, work so much and when they are on call it's a 26 hour shift and no sleep.. I feel like things need to change so patients can receive the best care. Also, here it's like if a child has a cut on the Eyebrow the pediatrician calls the ophthalmologist, yet if it's like 2 cm above it's considered a surgeon's job.. I may be exaggerating a bit but that's a big picture of things. Here it is Very clear who does what and because fear of getting sewed etc people don't step out of their area. I guess it's just different everywhere 😑
I feel that the same concept is very common in the east coast of the US as well. It’s definitely a system wide issue. Also probably the cause of increase physician burn out/suicide.
How did you get trained in injections or the obgyn stuff? Is that just part of the fam med training?
Yes! My program trains me. I followed an orthopedic surgeon/sports medicine specialist for several months and did all the injections. OBGYN is part of every FM training program.
Did you have Wyatt when you were in mesd school, or at the beginning of your residency? I have been told that having a baby en PGY1 is the most difficult time to have one.
I had Wyatt two weeks before I graduated medical school. I started residency when Wyatt was 8 weeks old.
I want to work as a hospitalist as a FM physician, but I'm worried about competing with Internal Medicine within the hospital setting. Any advice, comments?
The question is why you want to be FM as compared to IM. My next video is about FM Hospitalist so hopefully I can answer more of your questions in that video
Hi Jenny! I'm interested in becoming a DO and specialize in FM. I think is a great field but people scared me telling me to go into another route like PA or a more lucrative specialty. What do you think about the burn out in the field? I would like to have work life balance for my family and have time to travel the world. Do you think this is possible as a FM doctor? Thank you for making this video. You are very inspiring!
I too want work life balance and find time to travel. As I said, you determine your schedule once you become a physician.
@@drjennale Then we have a bright future as long as we keep going forward! Thank you!
May plano ako mag doctor. Tanong ko lang po, anong specialization sa Medicine na kung saan maeexpose ako sa mga mahihirap pati na rin sa mga slum areas? Gusto ko doctor ako ng mga mahihirap na Pilipino.
I have a trypophobia so im scared to go to a med school.. 😩
Hey hey
Final year medical student here
I want to do fam med too
A family doctor is also a general doctor?
Do you know the salary of a part time FM doc working in Cali? Like you said maybe 3x a week
I think Cali pays the least. You can google it and it will show you based on region
Do all children see paediatricians? Or is it only if they're referred by a family med doc?
I think it’s a cultural perspective that has recently changed. Patients started to believe that all children needed to go to a pediatrician which is not the case. Same with OB, not all pregnant women need to see OB. Some see FM doctors, others see midwives.
It’s hard to change perspective that’s what what I hope we can do by educating people about family medicine and all it has to offer.
@@drjennale that's super interesting! as people see their FM docs for more cases, what do general paediatricians end up seeing? just more specialized childhood issues?
There are many sub specialized pediatrics! Like GI, neurology, liver and intestinal failure. Many many different fellowships after pediatric residency.
But I was compare to to internal medicine how IM only sees adults, pediatrics only sees kids, and family medicine sees everyone. There’s a shortage of physicians so either ends of the spectrum are never worried they don’t have patients
Do you feel that family medicine would be replaced with np I'm the future? Is that a concern of yours
I personally don’t think so. I made a video about it - Will I Lose My Job To a PA or NP?! ua-cam.com/video/YCCH4Agfahw/v-deo.html
If the board scores for family medicine residency we’re high like neurosurgery or plastics we probably wouldn’t have a lot of family medicine doctors today. We need primary care providers and if we had a higher board score requirement a lot people probably would get into to family medicine because of it being a hypothetically competitive speciality.
It’s not a bad thing that they accept lower board scores because everyone doesnt perform well on standardized test any way. Performing well on these test doesn’t make you less smart then the next doctor. It’s so much more involved in being a physician then one or two test. I am only a premed and I realize that now.
