YYZ comes from their 1981 album Moving Pictures, which was recorded at Le Studio in Morin Heights, Quebec. Lead guitarist Alex Lifeson is a licensed pilot, and he was once flying them home for the weekend when drummer Neil Peart heard YYZ being transmitted in Morse Code (-.-- -.-- --..), which is what you hear at the beginning, and an idea was born; on subsequent tours, whenever they saw YYZ on their luggage tags, they'd know that they were heading home to their families. The composition was meant to represent the hustle and bustle of moving through a busy airport, and the part in the middle where lead singer/bass player Geddy Lee is playing the keyboards was meant to represent a brief pause to reunite with family and friends. If you'd like to hear more of why Moving Pictures is widely regarded as their best album ever, here are my suggestions: Tom Sawyer, official music video Limelight, official music video Red Barchetta, Exit Stage Left 🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥
I always wait for reactions from Rush and they never come, this is a historic concert of the band for the quality of their interpretations and sound, a very good choice my friend, congratulations
Great song choice! I am a 22 year drummer and Peart has always been a hero of mine. I played YYZ for my 8th grade talent show with one of my first bands. Thanks Fay!
Nice. I was in 9th grade when Moving Pictures dropped. My musical buddies and I noodled around with the song back then, but never came anywhere close to performing it for an audience. We stuck to AC-DC and Judas Priest for that.
Thank you, Fay! I'm a little surprised you haven't gotten requests to react to Rush until now. They were an extremely talented band from Toronto, Canada. They retired a few years ago when their legendary drummer, Neil Peart passed away.
Peart retired because of tendonitis - the man was in his 60's playing 3 hr gigs of very difficult music, he deserved to retire drumming is very physical. Unfortunately shortly after he retired he was diagnosed with brain cancer, he was given months but lived a few years more. I saw them play at one their last shows on the R40 tour... It was amazing they went backward in time playing through their entire discography, even using the gear from the era, guitars amps and kits etc. Anyways thanks for asking for this song Gary you have great tastes!
Finally! Yeah, Fay- I'm still with you, no matter what the algorithm dictates. Nice to see you back to solid music. From Rush's home, Canada- Peace, love and bellbottoms.

Rush is among the very greatest Rock bands. Must call them the best prog Rock band ever. Underrated but have the best live shows for sound. You hit it on your comment about them doing change ups from a high to low and even when they do a quick silence in between playing is very difficult and only true skilled musicians can do that, and be that tight with each other on stage. To me Best concert I ever went to was seeing them live, been to some real good ones. Thank you, knowing a little bit of your taste now I would recommend the song Working Man live in Cleveland. ♥️❣️😁
I could tell you were feelin the bass Faye 😉🎸👌 Rush are one of the tightest bands on the band period!!! 🤘 And yeah Neil Peart is walking clock ⏰😂😂 And Geddy Lee the bassist/vocalist and keyboard player is a very good musician!!!

You got a new subscriber!! They are amazing!!

Rush is awesome. This is an instrumental, no singing. Geddy Lee, their bass player and keyboardist is also the singer.
I agree, they are awesome 🔥
Sorry extra comment. YYZ is the code for at the Airport for landing airplanes in Toronto Canada. Anyway Thanks 😊

💥THE GIRL WHO LISTENED TO RUSH💥
From the back of the stadium
She’s easy to see
Standing up at the stage
In her Starman tee
From Anthem to Limelight
To YYZ
She’s the girl who listened to Rush
And all of the rockers
And all of the heshers
Well they dreamed of the day
That they might get her
And drive her away
In a Red Barchetta
She’s the girl who listened to Rush
Philosophers and ploughmen
They can’t resist her call
They cannot choose
Not to decide
So they've got no choice at all
They've gotta love her
No she doesn’t say "Pert"
And she doesn’t say "Part"
Yeah, she knows it’s "Neil Peert"
‘Cause he’s close to her heart
Say a prayer for John Rutsey
He was there at the start
She’s the girl who listened to Rush
Philosophers and ploughmen
They can’t resist her call
They cannot choose
Not to decide
So they've got no choice at all
They've gotta love her
Why don’t girls ever listen to Rush? (X a lot)
But she listened to Rush!
The blacksmith and the artist
They can’t resist her call
You cannot choose
Not to decide
So you’ve got no choice at all
No you’ve got no choice at all
You’ve gotta love her
