Hi! How do you get the flames so high please? My dial is set to high, but still not as high as yours.

Awesome video and a great idea. I am thinking about buying a gas fireplace insert and I like the one you have. Do you happen to know the companies make and model of your gas insert?

I don't know, sorry. It came with the house and I can't find any markings on it.

What are you looking for, a gas insert or gas logs? If your wanting what she has I would suggest Peterson Real Fyre gas logs, vent free will be like hers, but if your looking for cosmetics over heat then the vented set looks better, as the vented set has a pan with sand that lets the flames spread better with a deeper ember burn with an over all more real looking flame. It all depends on what your looking for, but over all Peterson Real Fyre logs are one of the best sets on the market, easy to use, and can come with a remote for even easier use.

I added this to my gas fireplace. I hadn't heard of them until I ran across your video. Thanks for the tip!

Mine only has one gas burning tube I wonder how I can make it work with the embers.

if your still needing help with this, i can help you, where is the tube located with your log set, is this a gas log set, or a wall furnace? i hope there a log set as theres no point for a wall furnace. If you can see the burn tube then all you need to do is place some over the burner to one hide the burner and two to get that nice burning ember look. for this lady's set, she has a back burner and a front burner, from what i can see this looks to be a vent free log set, depending on the set you can place some across the back burner too, to one spread the flames out, two bring a little more flame to the front and three increase the over all look of the burn as sometimes you can see the back burner from above at the right angles. I would suggest getting some acorns or decretive logs to hide the burn tube going back to the back burner and add more coals to the from to help hide the burn tube. Now for yours you can do the same, as long as its a gas log set like hers. If its a vented set with a single burn tube in the middle with a pan surrounding it, I would fist see if it needs sand check your manual or look at the burner to see if it has a half pan going around it with a log grate over that with the logs sitting on the grate. Most of the time it would need sand first, and the sand is a special type so make sure to get what your manual calls for. Then after the sand you spread a ember mix bag over the sand and spread it till the sand is hidden but dont pack the sand or the embers down, loose is best, but not so loose they fall out or burn away. And your done, its a very easy prosses, just take your time to make sure it looks good and that your not burning your logs with the flames, as this blackens your logs and makes then look ugly, but no matter what use your manual for your set, if you dont have your manual most log sets have a metal plate in the back with make and model, with this you can download it online. Hope this helped.

Is the box to the left an electrical connection for the gas fireplace?

How often should glowing embers be replaced?

Not sure, I replaced mine when the old one's stopped glowing.

Generally they will last 3 to 5 years depending on amount of use.

I would add embers once a year, you dont need to take the old out just add a little to where it needs it. After about 3 years then you can replace all the old and start with fresh embers.

Are they the flames from your gas log fire? As we only get glowing logs no real flame, any suggestion? Thanx Dee

Hi DeeDee. The embers do not produce flames, just a glowing fire look. The flames in my fireplace come out of a grate between the fake logs. -steph

@@MotherDaughterProjectsDIY Did I misunderstand? I thought there was a follow up video on the gas fireplace. Maybe I'm wrong. If you're taking requests :) I could use help in figuring out how in the world to make the turn on knob on the gas longer so I don't have to put my head into the fireplace to turn on the gas. I can't afford to have a professional help me. Thank you for responding to my question. I appreciate that so much.

Hi, I don't mess with the gas myself. If I need to relight, I call the city and they will come light it for a very small fee. You might want to see if this service is available in your area. -Steph

@@yesiownfrodo What do you mean by the nob, and what type of set do you have, im a fireplace tech, if you still need help let me know, but it mostly depends on your LOG SET. Is this a gas log set or a gas fireplace? Do you have a front glass, solid glass with no hinges not folding glass doors in front of your logs, are there controls in a under cage? Or just a log set with a burn pan that has controls in the front or to the side? Does it have a standing pilot, electronic igniter, or a match light.
