When Jack says he's the ass hole "this episode", does he mean "last episode" or "next episode"?
No, since it is this week it would be "this". You fail.
Travis Williams He means last episode. But everyone else thinks he means next week.
Maybe they could make a Jack sabbatical an Extra Life goal. I'd donate.
Travis Williams I don't know what's funnier. This joke, or that other people in this thread are continuing the argument from the joke.
everyone is entitled to their own opinions
Based on the lyrics to "Last Friday Night" by Katy Perry, fuck Jack he's wrong.
Plus Ryan's right that language is based on usage and is not set in stone
"I think talking pigs are weird, I don't know why. Like photorealistic talking pigs......" 10:36
Geoff, you are just the best. Don't ever stop being you
"This" is arbitrary, try focusing on the verb tense, AH:
"...came out this Tuesday" implies past
"...comes out this Tuesday" implies future
I am by no means a grammar person.
ohmygod you genius
this coming Tuesday, this past Tuesday
dansouth1973 argument solved
This was literally the point i came down to make, the correct use comes with whether the subject is in the future or the past, so something the happened this tuesday was the tuesday before, and something happening this tuesday is the upcoming Tuesday
ok but can we all agree that ryan is extremely attractive
jenivieve Agreed
you're attractive
thank you
Welcome ;P
jenivieve yes
Jack needs to learn some humility and to stop using the defence of 'everyone's always against me that's why I can never be right' and just accept that he can simply be wrong or at least in the minority with his opinion.
Triple S i think his parents always let him get what he wanted when he was a little bitch boy
Mr. Sprinkles that infers the inability of being wrong - which is wrong :^)
Not gonna jump into the argument of whether 'this' or 'next' is right, but we can agree that one of them is RIGHT so that makes the other wrong, thus it is not an opinion.
I could have the opinion that the sky is yellow but that doesn't make it not wrong.
Mr. Sprinkles because people are jack haters. If it was Gavin standing by his point everyone would be siding with Gavin
+ Knaylen Marcus
Gavin doesn't act like a victim though when people don't agree with him like Jack does, even when it's him being British they're making fun of he doesn't start throwing out defences like 'you fucking Americans, you hate us British'.
Ryan seems to be getting exponentially more attractive
ok true
That man ages like a fine wine
10/10 me likey
for sure
Too bad Meg isn't there anymore
Jack "One person agrees with me, therefor im right and everyone else is wrong."
Geoff back to the OG looks, I like it
Definitely nostalgic
I feel like Jack doesn't understand that him being wrong and people disliking him are not mutually exclusive.
when you say "this", in reference to a day of the week, you are paraphrasing. the correct way would be to say "this past" or "this coming". neither side is right or wrong because this could be paraphrasing either or
This entire argument reminds me of "The Dumbest Boy Alive."
Exactly, thats why Gavin and Becka didnt really know who to agree with. As Gavin said its context. "Is that GTA DLC out?" "It COMES out this Tuesday." or "It CAME out this Tuesday." 2 different Tuesdays, both _this_ Tuesday! Ryan and Jack were equally wrong but Jack was just a dick about it lol
Elijah Jones thank you that is all I was thinking when they were fighting
I literally paused the video, typed this comment and 4 seconds later the guy off camera said this same thing so yeah there you go.
Elijah Jones underrated comment
Jack calls himself out like five times this episode about legitimate complaints people have about him yet he continues to act the same way?
Bubb Rubb also its just who he is I wouldn't want him to change his whole personality just cause what we think or else he wouldn't be jack.
Bubb Rubb also i doubt anyone has a real definitive reason they dont like Jack. If anything hes just an older guy surrounded by a young audience. His job at this age isnt to people please and i doubt someone his age cares
Just because you agree that one of your flaws is a flaw that doesn't mean you instantly (or ever) get rid of that flaw. Just like how i agree that smoking is bad for me but i still do it Just like someone that is fully aware that they are a sore loser but can't stop themselves from getting upset whenever they lose.
It's what happens when you can't get your point through. Jack's also right from his initial statement but several statements after that make him sound wrong.
Django Cribbs so basically, you are saying your dislike for jack is how short his fuse is comparatively to the other achievement hunters?(or just period but u did make the geoff comparison)
Am I the only one that always whistles along with the theme song?
I hope so.
I totally do it too. I don't even realise it until it's done
Jason Doe guilty as charged✋🏼😂
Every. Single. Damn. Time.
Everytime, and I listen to it in podcast form, so I whistle it in public.
Jack: *Sees poll that hes losing badly* ITS ONLY 23 PEOPLE
Jack: *Becca agrees with Jack* BOOM IM RIGHT!
Ok jack
Javale Mcgee 1. He is right. Any professor of literature would say the same. 2. The majority of the internet are a bunch of idiots as is proved by that poll
"as is proved..." and another one
Devin Y I believe you mean wrong, because he IS wrong.
NCinflitratingNinja he actually is right though. I literally asked someone who teaches English literature in a university and they said the same. Please. Be free to ask a proper expert on the subject and see if you're still right
Devin Y All im talking about is his hypocrisy
Nice to see that Lindsay's doing well. Congrats to her and Michael 💖
Magic Note I know! Can't wait for her to bring baby iris to the office!
Megan Ismail maybe not with all the weapons! 😂
Notice Jack at 46:24 when Ryan asks ''Is that cake?" his head snaps up, lol.
27:00 reminds me of the Spaceballs arguement.
"Now. You're looking at now, sir. Everything that happens now, is happening now."
"What happened to then?"
"We passed it."
"When?"
"Just now. We're at now now."
"Go back to then."
"When?"
"Now"
"Now?"
"Now!"
"I Can't."
"Why??"
"We missed it."
"WHEN??"
"Just now."
"When will then be now???"
"Soon."
Jack once again proves he can't handle losing an argument by playing the victim card as soon as there is a consensus that he is incorrect. I used to like jack but he's just been a crybaby lately.
James Argus But he didn't lose. He's actually right about how it's said in my opinion. Goddamn, the UA-cam comments are pure cancer these days. Jack's in a vid and you all get an enormous hate boner. It's amusing.
Actually I've seen someone write a very long paragraph explaining in detail how this grammar problem works. The conclusion - it depends on the context (just as Geoff said). So Jack wasn't right bashing on Ryan's opinion. And Ryan wasn't right bashing on Jack's opinion. What Jack did, is he behaved like a little child when parents tell them no to something and that's just embarrassing. He's a grown man ffs.
James Argus so basically you turn to social media for correct information? No wonder there are more idiots today than before
h1d3n1npl8in 51ght Than before WHAT?
NCinflitratingNinja I thought it was implied by my comment before social media became a norm and a disease, but thanks letting me clarify
I like how Jack was at the Ea thing yet still got the story wrong lol.
... What did you expect? XD
Sarok Pffft. You're seriously calling.him a shill?
Sad but true.
I miss the attitude that was more prevalent when I first got into AH which was personified so well by Geoff and Michael. Fuck everybody, basically, and if you don't like it fuck you too. Especially us fans.
These days there seems to be some much more... pandering attitudes.
they pander to xbox and ubisoft because they want free shit
It's called having integrity. I prefer people who don't bullshit for the sake of freebies.
I've lost a lot of respect for Jack for how badly he reacted when he found out he was wrong about a question with no factual answer it is completely contextual and Ryan was right, with the way language evolves the correct answer is always what is perceived to be correct by most people.
So the sound when you say hello means what ever chinese people mean when they say the same sound because there are more chinese people.
Jack does grammar the same way he does politics. He starts off with; "This is what I think", and then finds someone else to validate/agree with him, so he can continue to think he's right. My 8 year old niece does the same thing.
TheKingOfApples100 Your an idiot
TheKingOfApples100 do a study and ask a representative group of people around the world what hello means and whatever is the majority answer is correct
If you're in China, and speaking to Chinese only speaking people, then yes.
Great to see Lindsey. Glad her and Mogar and the baby are doing good.
lendsmey*
John Doe
Don't care about Jack being right or wrong, people speak differently to other people what a fucking revelation. What I do care about is the maturity, specifically the lack of, that Jack showed during the whole discussion. Shouting over Ryan to be like "I'M THE LOUDEST, LISTEN TO ME, I'M RIGHT!", acting like he'd beaten everyone into the ground when Becca agrees with him and then acting like he was a victim and trying to elicit sympathy when he realised even Becca agreeing with him wasn't going to make the others change their opinions to match his. Tldr- Jack can't be wrong and if he is it's because everyone hates him boohoo.
Jack needs to go on a Sabbatical for like 5 months to Australia.
Darth Revan TheBandit025 Hes even worse than Trump. At least Trump is actually under attack all the time. But everyone likes jack until he acts like an asshole then says that people will call him out on it
You want him to go on a Sabbatical for 4 years. And no one likes Jack anymore because of the damn election I know if we chosen Hilary we would have an Criminal in the white house but she would be the first woman but the second one because of Richard Nixon
Darth Revan TheBandit025 I dont know what would be worse Jack now, or hillary for prez
Jack is worst since he is a big baby I wondered if Kati doesn't want to breastfeed him.
Darth Revan TheBandit025 God bless kaiti
I'd really enjoy a few episodes without Jack. It feels like he has been on a ton of these recently. Instead of having five people, just replace Jack with the extra person (Lindsay in this case). I didn't mind him at first but he has just become incredibly obnoxious with his arguments, jebbiness, and talking over people. Just my two cents.
You guys are focusing on the wrong word. Obviously next and last are pretty self explanatory. But the word this doesn't actually matter. It's about "this" it's about was or is. "When does this movie come out?" "It is this weekend". Now that implies that it is the upcoming weekend. "When does this movie come out?" "It was this weekend". The word was now applies it to the previous weekend.
I'm gonna say this. If I said "It came out Tuesday" and 'It comes out Tuesday". Notice how the ONLY thing that matters there is the tense? English isn't as hard as these guys are making it. If you can speak the language, the brain auto-defaults to the tense to figure out what time period you are speaking about. If I said, "It CAME out this Tuesday" against "It COMES out this Tuesday". If your brain can't default to leave out the "THIS" in that situation and focus on the words "CAME" Vs "COMES", you have an issue with English that is on a much deeper level than grammar. Like, the argument was stupid, they are both right, they are both wrong. English is one of the most fluid languages on this fucking planet. As long as you adhere to the rules, you can say it however you want really. As long as you can speak well enough to get your point across.
If you get hung up on this like Jack, you are probably just as anal as he is about everything, and are no fun. (Like me o-o)
Edit: Oh shit, someone points this out in the episode. Good to know that there are people in RT who aren't fucking insane XD.
Regarding the whole "this" issue, I agree with Becca's statement - Just say the day without 'this' and I would know you are talking about that day of the current week
Jack was a bit obnoxious for this one.
A bit?
this one?
Jack?
X Box One X
X B O X
XBOX
Aaron Cota I realized that when they announced it and dropped my jaw
You are a word magician.
Wow
The whole thing with This/Next/last Tuesday is all contextual. If you say "this Tuesday", it always means this coming Tuesday in the future HOWEVER the way Jack is saying it is correct, he was saying "it was this Tuesday" - usually this means future but the use of the word "was" changes it to the past so the most recent tuesday. Last Tuesday would mean the tuesday in the previous week.
The same argument that Ryan, Geoff, Gavin etc etc use for this Tuesday, next tuesday is exactly the same if you put it in a past tense.
Nintendo won me over with the Metroid on 3DS announcement. Shame it's not coming to switch but I'm too broke for that anyway.
The abreviation for XBox One X is XBOX. that is why they named it that. it's an inside joke.
TBH I thought all the conferences were on par with each other. Not amazing, but also not dogshit. With exception to Bethesda, who really was at a truck stop 6 miles back (New dishonored though).
*Edit*: I hate to break it for you Jack, but the english language is a series of redundant statements. Sometimes "this day" and "next day" are referring to the same day depending on context.
Jacks like trump always saying he's under attack and playing the victim
Oh fuck my one weakness!
360 well I'll be back in a few mins when I can select an option that makes people look like people not pixels of random colour
Jack immediately reminds everyone he is indeed a xbox fanboy right after complaining about it, love how ryan and gavin destroyed him
Aaron2thecore lol I mean except he said he prefers PC soooo
He said he would prefer playing Destiny on PC, nothing to do with there talk about the Conferences.
Until he said he wanted to play Destiny 2 on pc rather than xbox
Literally just said that, that has nothing to do with there conversations about the conferences
It's an hour and a half video, the other guy commented after I started to watch
2:50 Why are there two Ryans and why does one of them have Gavin's twitter handle?
I don't know about that Jean the British twat is an imposter.
The problem with Jack isn't that he doesn't care about being wrong, its that he won't shut the fuck up when he thinks he won even when losing 5 to 1
Alex Reid or 175 to 2
Only Jack would be more interested in the stage over the games being shown
Matt Roberts I enjoyed Sonys intro. Dont really care for VR but it wasn't awful. Also Days Gone looks pretty good.
I still don't think Jack is funny
I get mad whenever an Off Topic is less than 2 hours long >:(
.75 speed bby
Jack's cool and all, but I feel as though recently he's been... well hogging Off-Topic lately and not in a good way either. It's always the same subjects each and every-time. Gets quite boring and repetitive as a result. Then with the constant talking over people about absolute rubbish. Let someone else have a go man.
I'm early for once
Oh boy a new Off Topic, time to read some comments about why people hate Jack again...
I'm liking off topic more and more these days
I've been saying, the same thing I see everyone in the comments is saying about Jack, for years now. Glad people are FINALLY seeing it.
Jack has a nice Fred Durst cosplay going on.
I'm glad that, even as a liberal...Geoff can still make a joke about Hillary 😊 equal opportunity insulter
Jonathon Loredo Hilary wasn't liked by the liberals either. She was the "best of a bad situation".
Jamaican Butler, the liberals like her. The actual left don't
I really like how Jack's trying to pitch PC to the other Achievement Hunters.
I just prefer PC gaming in general, and I find it to be the superior gaming platform. _Now, that's not meant to sound like an elitist or anything, I've no problem with console gamers._ I just prefer to play (and watch others play) with a mouse and keyboard, 60 FPS, and in HD. Oh, and higher FOV values in first-person games.. Consoles are far too narrow even to watch for me, personally.
It saddens me a little that not everyone wants to make the switch to play primarily on PC, but everyone has pretty valid reasons as to why they prefer to stay on Xbox.
For example, consoles _do_ usually work most of the time, compared to PC where there's some general system maintenance required (drivers, troubleshooting, overclocking, misc. programs etc).
Having just gotten Monster Hunter World for PC - it's absolutely glorious on PC compared to Console. I still use a controller though. If I could have the same performance on console, i'd have kept playing.
I no longer enjoy Jack. 5 minutes in and this version of him infuriates me.
Jack has been very contradictory in the recent months. I still like him, but I can now understand people's criticism of him.
I really like Jack in their AH videos, but... on Off Topic he turns into this over the top guy. Last week's episode was so chill and funny and guess who wasn't there for a change.
Partial keep it to your self bitch
Megan Ismail I'm sorry - lets keep all youtube comments non opinionated - and if anyone goes against that we shall insult them. I don't think you're the brightest of people.
Partial I appreciate the positivity. I'm sorry I made you upset it's just people get on my nerves
When Team Same Voice argues with itself...
"It's the yeast in the beer that helps" my answer to every beer conversation no matter the topic
Jack really does suck the fun and excitement out of stuff. He's actually making me like SpaceX less by talking about it.
"It came out this Tuesday" = Most recent Tuesday
"It came out last Tuesday" = The Tuesday one before the most recent one
"It's coming this Tuesday" = The nearest future Tuesday
"It's coming next Tuesday" = The Tuesday one after the nearest in the future
But that's just the two cents of a non-native english speaker
All these comments saying Ryan is getting more attractive somehow. I just noticed he's never sat left on the table, so I think we've just found the Mad Kings "good" side.
with argument of this and last tuesday you both are right there is no wrong answer, in context they both mean the same thing
Also Lindsey is back
This was hard to watch.
Jack was too loud for me like his voice is the only thing I can hear
Man I like everyone at AH but this episode with that argument Jack was being honestly annoying and kind of sad to watch. Everyone has the right to be heated and fight to prove there right but please come on don't come out after a vote and be like "Shockingly the internet says I'm wrong." and then say "Its cause everyone loves Ryan more than me." Why say that and be like that like? Come on don't try and act the victim like that its just not cool. :/
Edited: Ok after that smug face and loud yell after he got his validation by Becca and his comments about people calling him names and saying "I really don't care" just made it way worse. No point in being like that.
I'm just glad that they all moved on and let it go.
They could just have context for the sentence.
It came out this Tuesday
Or
It's coming out this Tuesday
gotta Love Jack's enthusiasm he has for these/some games, even if It can be a tad bit too much at times, dude loves his job.
god jack hates to be wrong
Everybody did.
CoronaSabre everybody hates to be wrong, idiot
Jack is back on my "People I don't like" list. This is right up there with not letting Joel sign his name on the tower of pimps bad! You are wrong and I hate you!
Jack is 100% wrong. Literally nobody agrees with him about this Tuesday thing, lol.
Jack-"That's a waste of words!"
Ryan-"You just described half the english language!"
Best quote in AH history.
shouldn't Lindsey get paid time off to be with her daughter for next 3 months.
DamuEmran if she wants it. She's probably not obligated to be there but they often come in on days off and vacation to hang out
I liked the Xbox and PS4 presentations the same I guess. I mostly just care about the new games coming out, less so whether Sony or Microsoft had the better presentation. Speaking of games, I'm pretty stoked for the new Metro. That Sea of Thieves game also looks pretty rad. I've noticed that all the comments on this video are calling Ryan attractive, are you guys just now noticing?
"Off Topic, awesome... Jack's on it. never mind"
Shouldn't it be "in"?
hey jack just wanna say that even though you get alot of hate, some of us fans still like you. I appreciate all you achievement hunter guys (including jeremy, dont pick on the short guy. 😁)
You help me stay strong when getting bullied. Keep doing you guys.
I would say "this past Tuesday"
Timothy Noort this
its based on context. jack and ryan are both right depending on the words around it. this is how the english language works. if i say this thing HAPPENED this tuesday it was this past tuesday if i said its HAPPENING this tuesday its the next tuesday. saying last can be more confusing as it could be this past or last weeks. same as next. so saying last is technically right but saying this in context is the least confusing of the two.
As usual Jack is wrong and refuses to admit he is in the wrong, the word "This" changes meaning depending on context for example if someone said "This monday we released poop out of heaven the movie the game." it means that monday has already passed , while if you say "This monday we release poop out of heaven the movie the game" you are referring to the next monday down the line if it doesn't provide in sentence context then you have to take the day you say it into account for example if you ask me a question and i reply this tuesday you have to take into account what day it is if tuesday was yesterday then i'm talking about yesterday if tuesday is two days from now then i'm talking about that tuesday it's most of the time based on how close tuesday was to today. Seriously Jack learn how to understand context clues!Even if you are right grammatically everyone else wasn't wrong either because of context.
I love Lindsey. She just always seems to genuinely be happy to be here.
Canadians are a little smarter. We just give dates instead of days of the week.
jack's right, also the question itself is what's important since it implied that past. lastly saying last uesday sounds really weird and can be confusing. i mean if it's friday, and ur talking about the day before which is thursday, would you be okay with saying last thursday, just sounds weird, if it does sound weird, then doesn't last wednesday or last tuesday sound weird as well
Jack is wrong, Gavin and Ryan are right. "This" is short for "this coming"
This year is 2018.
drfreshey or this past
I love Jack with all of my heart, I met him and got a picture with him at a PAX East and it was a major highlight of my life. But Jack is definitely wrong, here. *Shrug*
LET GEOFF TALK ABOUT SONY FFS
jack can't be right.
If you ask when something supposed to come out and jack says this weekend he means the past weekend but I guarantee everyone else would think the coming weekend.
jack is wrong as hell, as usual
For the This vs last tuesday argument, what matters more is either if it's proceeded by a "came" or "comes" or any other indecator of time frame. but for me, "it came out last tuesday" is less clunky than "it came out this tuesday"
Why is there even a discussion about this? "Tuesday" or "this Tuesday" are the coming Tuesday, they don't reference the past, "last Tuesday" does.
1:00:30 "what happens if an extinction event occurs here?"
Jack, as a student of biology, it's actually already happening. Something like 15% of total species are expected to die off by 2050. The total speciation rate is much much lower than the extinction rate currently, which defines an extinction event.
Who else saw Ryan Haywood over Gavin Free in the beginning
Sorry to break it to you guys, There is already a universe with the Mummy/Frankenstein etc... It's called Hotel Transylvania
Jack i can safely say that i will continue to give you hate/shit for using out dated dominance based training methods on your dog and spreading that misinformation to the world
Jack plz let Lindsay talk 😔
Ugh ... I knew that all the comments were going to be about the "this" argument. Why can't we all be wrong?
Ryan is right
Jack only says Ubisofts the best because he's got a brown tongue for assassins creed, skull and bones will be like for honor and die within a month
I hated the Ubi, EA, and Microsoft conferences. Couldn't stand all the jabbering and fucking endless bullshit and fluff.
Sony's was cool, Bethesda's was fun, and Nintendo's was okay.
Jack really loves to argue the losing sides of arguments, doesn't he?
Jack is wrong. Simple
I guess Jack is an antivaxer too considering that he is fine using one agreement to justify an argument everyone else disagrees with.
Jack should just never be on. I mean he's just the worst.
motoking Jack is #1
funny they're talking about the spiderman game being announced and i just started it yesterday xD
Okay. Even though I really hate to side with Jack, he's right. We call it last week this week and next week for a reason. If it happened this week, it's this Tuesday.
I've never heared such a big discussion on days of the week.
If it happened during this calender week I refer to it as this *insert day*
Jack is absolutely correct.
