Hi, Kvark developer here, thanks so much for this fantastic review. I am really happy you liked our game and also brought up some really good criticisms. We will add the double barrel firing mechanic asap :D
It's a great game and as a Czech, it makes me happy to see so many good indie games come from us. As a fun fact the word "robot" is originally from Czechoslovakia (before the split in the 90s), and comes from a play from a famous Czech writer.
@@jesusmgw He's referring to Karel Capek and his play R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots). The word is robota, forced labor, as done by serfs. Its root, rab, means slave.
But with a v. If you start with quark/kwark and move your lower teeth towards your upper lips you'll get there. But quark is probably close enough to most Czech people anyway.
I played this game 2 weeks ago, and well a for someone from Czech Republic this game is awesome. I nickname it Czech Half Life i mostly agree with review. Its kinda funny to see cutscenes in czech language that looks and feels from 80s, even the voice feels like that. And yes if you wanna ask the enemies and even drones speak czech. I hope the episode 3 will come out soon
@@k9vendettathewolfofmordor529i hope you love and respect yourself as a gamer enough to play Hrot. The rave reviews from hardcore gamer circles are not merely smoke being blown
Man, that intro is so nostalgic.. in my country we used to get so many animation shorts and shows from eastern/central europe. And they all had this exact vibe and feeling. Amazing!
You've definitely given me more of an appreciation for half-likes Hoping you end up looking at Abiotic Factor -- easily one of my favorite Half-Life inspired games (can't tell if I'd call it a Half-Like).
Abiotic Factor looks cool. But it is another survival early access game. I don't have high hopes for Survival EA games, because rarely they ever finished. Developers behind Palworld has a bad track record of not completing their previous survival games and Project Zomboid has been around for over a decade. Just not a fan of incomplete games.
@@zeliph the demo during NextFest was phenomenal. It's got an actual campaign to follow, so there's an end goal for them. Guess we'll see how it looks in May when it comes out. I hate survival games most of the time, but this one definitely was engaging, probably since it didn't just plop you in a sandbox with just the goal of "survive"
@@PhriekshoTV I'll be sure to keep an eye on it when it goes near final release. Sounds cool that it has some kind of end game, similar to Sons of the Forest.
@@zeliph yeah. The progression was fun. Going through the portal for the first time and going through a derelict, eerie city to find another portal back to another part of the facility was awesome. Also has Zomboid style skill progression system, and a neat brainstorming mechanic for discovering new recipes. A lot of promise and actual direction, which you definitely don't see the latter with too many survival games lmao
@@zeliph I've Been playing it quite a bit recently, and it's honestly one of the most polished early access games I've ever played(at least content wise). Believe me I have had my fair share of disappointments when it comes to early access. I'm still mad I ever gave those POS devs at wildcard money. This genuinely is one of the funner gaming experiences I have had in awhile.
One way to fix the pump action and double barrel is to put them into 2 different shotgun roles. One works as a jack of all trades while the other is more specialized.
That hazmat guy's animation when you blow his head off and he puts his hands like he's trying to feel if it's still there :D :D :D Never mind the review, gonna buy this game just for that
The only complaint I have with it visually would be that, for the amount of blood spilling occurring (which is absolutely fine with me... I love that), I genuinely believe it would make more sense to have more smaller decals spawn on the floor from that (same with the gibbed parts going splat on the floor). Of course, it's more of a nitpick since I do understand if it might tank the performance. But, if it's a viable improvement, I hope the devs could make it work. I prefer it when the blood effects in games are consistent with the spilling. Maybe I'm just sick in the head, but I don't mind. I've been called worse. Hahahahaha.
Holy shit, Kvark looks fucking dope! Not the same thing, but your video on Graven led me to buy one of my favorite games of all time: Blood West. Now, I am once again inspired and I might buy Kvark... depending on how much Project Zomboid sets me back
I was wondering when you'd get to Kvark. I thought a new episode dropped but apparently not, and Adaca had the new episode (well that dropped in December I think, I'm catching up lol) and now I had to reinstall that one also. I love the fact that you push Half-Alikes and boomer shooters. Some of the other channels I love (shout out to Zlimbratski baby! sorry) normally only cover boomer shooters, or a specific type of genre, and you like to cover everything from Half-Life style games to boomer shooters to analyzing games from all sorts of genres. :)
Not specifically on the shooter side of things, but honestly to speak of Half-Likes, I think the Penumbra series should be worth checking for ones before this ever became a thing. Made by the same ones who did Amnesia. It's more lenient on horror (less on the combat esp), but it does take a few cues in the way it paces itself to the exploration at your own pace vibe to it. And to speak of that, Amnesia: The Bunker should be worth checking out as well for that matter.
@@Jarekthegamingdragon I mean you have dragon in your name but when I saw vrchat I was like "oh shit, homie is one of us", and by one of us I mean fbt vrc player, I am not a scaly but I hang with lots of the gang
Hey Jarek, I have been your follower for a few years now and since you're mostly into shooters like I am; I would like to introduce you to a fun side scrolling shooter named TAGAP. A total of 4 games have been released so far. But I've never seen anyone cover a single game and I would really love it if you just take a look. The first game is a little hard but all the others are Ok. Start from the second and decide if you'd want to play the first. All games are FREE.
Bloody hell why does it take 4 minutes into the video to actually NAME the game, why is it not in the description. And even then you don't name it, the cutscene does it for you.
I can really rely on Jarek to keep me informed on all the Half-Likes that fly under my radar. This is an Unreal 5 game? Really impressed to know it’s properly optimized.

Damm, I am so happy you fun. Fun fact: this game was created by two students from Ostrava and also I'm czech. Ahoj , fanoušku half-lifu.
"Kvark" is just czech spelling of Quark, so it's supposed to be pronounced the same way as quark in english.
But with a v. If you start with quark/kwark and move your lower teeth towards your upper lips you'll get there. But quark is probably close enough to most Czech people anyway.
“Rojo” is just the Español spelling of red, so it’s supposed to be pronounced the same way as red in English :)

15:46 so it's Wolfenstein 3d- you camp doors or backup through corridors
Damn, Czechia caught up to 90s america. Especialy the half life 3d soundscapes etc. look it up if you are interested in 90s sound engineering.
Kingdom Come, Mafias, Arma or ETS and ATS don't seem to be at 90's level....

So Jarek played a post soviet half flife game in a post soviet bunker while living in a post soviet timeline
You going to review the new Episode 3 of Doom 3 Phobos? Just came out like a week ago.
Definitely gonna try this, I love half life 1 much more than 2 imo

I'm surprised now we have 3d jarrick

Hi, can you please make a review about Beyond Enemy Lines Remastered Edition? It is from the devs of Strike Force 3

Jarek you should try longform content.
This video is almost 20 minutes long. It is longform content.
By longform I meant something like those video essays but for older fps games, since you already love them so much.
This is a video essay, the video is 20 mins long, and I've made 40 min long content for games I really like.
Its Czechia
Now go play HROT, would you kindly?
