      we haven't invented anything new in a long time it's sad. Everything we get that's "new" was already made up 50 year's ago or more. People are too dumb to make anything new.

    This honeslty makes quite a lot of sense. LPG and CNG have both seen extensive use in Europe, and, since ammonia-based engines are going to be similar from a technical standpoint, I'd be glad to see them in a more widespread use.

      Ammonia is a great refrigerant for heat pumps. Do you know why domestic heat pumps don't use it? Because undiluted ammonia is extremely caustic. An indoor leak while you are sleeping and unable to react to your lungs getting irritated by the initial whiff would be potentially lethal. If you have ever used ammonia-based windows cleaner, you know how much your nose and eyes sting when you get close to that stuff and this is only two or three squirts from a spray bottle at 1-4% concentration, not a full ~1kg of the raw stuff as you would have in an HVAC system. An ammonia ICEV would carry 40-80kg of it, bad day for anyone downwind if anything happens to an ammonia tank.
      With ammonia, we may end up with a first-responder protocol for leaky tanks to set the vehicle on fire to destroy the ammonia before it can injure (more) people.

      Same with gas... A certain german person used the stuff to kill people in gas chambers. I think you're being a bit dramatic. Here in the netherlands they use 15% ammonia for cleaning and degreasing. Their talking about a diluted ammonia fuel. You drive your car outdoors I assume? Plus a high powered EV can spontaniously combust. Id rather drive LPG or ammonia. Plus there is a fail safe. When you crash the system shuts down the fuel pump. Most tanks are located under the backseats where its quite hard to puncture. My house is heated by gas. If there is a gas leak that would be bad plus it can explode. But in reality this basically never happens. Thats why they put strong odors to gas and ammonia.@@teardowndan5364

    Make small ammonia engine to use in hybrids. Ammonia fumes are dangerous to driver if leak. Probably won't be accepted in U.S...but a small ammonia engine that can charge ev battery onboard may be better design, if only ammonia canisters/cartridges needed to charge small engine.

      Well given that DPFs fitted to diesels past 2007 as well as Truck Diesels of course, to reduce oxides of Nitrogen Emissions, but when they go bad kick out tonnes of Ammonia. So not something that’s exactly rare. Or even during a Regen 5 years worth of Emissions blow out in a week 😂, technology ayy.

    BTW, I seriously question the "automotive market" graph shown. Since when is Japan ahead of the US market in volume?

    When you have a small gasoline hatchback there is not much that can beat it. You fill it up within a minute and it can drive 500 miles untill its empty. No need for constant electric connections and no rush because you can let it sit for months without losing "charge'' 😂. Its also fully wireless 🤣.

    actually.. this ammonia fueled engines are just like LPG or CNG powered engines.. same internal combustion engine but just a different fueled engine.. it's just adjusting the spark timing of the engine, then you can use different fuels for engine..

    @ESINNISEESIN 4 місяці тому +4

    Sorry but there's something really wrong in the video. Ammonia doesn't burn faster, it actually burns much much slower than other fuels. So slow that it's actually hard to burn it and get a decent efficiency. Its LHV is much lower (18.8 MJ/kg) compared to traditional fuels (~43 MJ/kg) , and this is the reason why more fuel is consumed for the same power output. Hydrogen burns fast. Please check out 'laminar flame speed velocity'.

    I think in the near future Car makers will be able to.perfectly make engines run by water once introduce and demonstrated by a filipino engineer but did not gain ground because no government support and inventor lack of financial funds to perfect the invention. But i once saw in the YOU TUBE BEFORE SEVERAL YEARS AGO DRIVING A CAR POWERED MOSTLY BY WATER BUT IT DIED DOWN MAYBE FOR MANY REASONS. ONE REASON RUMOURED WAS THE FILIPINO INVENTOR ENGENEER WAS GIVEN SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT BY SOMEBODY IN THE OIL INDUSTRY NOT TO PROCEED WITH HIS INVENTION. IF THAT WATER POWERED ENGINE WAS PERFECTED THERE WILL BE MANY PROBLEMS MAY OCCUR THAT WILL RUIN THE ECONOMY OF MANY COUNTRIES . THE FILIPINO INVENTION GIVES OTHER ENGENEERS OF OTHER COUNTRIES IN THE AUTO INDUSYRY TO START AN IDEA THAT OTHER SOURCES CAN BE DEVELOPED ASIDE FROM OIL. I THINK THAT WATER POWER CAN STILL BE SEEN IN UA-cam AND I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISE IF IN A NEAR FUTURE SOMEONE WILL DEVELOP A WIND OR AIR POWERED ENGINE OR A SOUND POWERED ENGINES. ITS NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO ALL THIS KIND OF ENGINES.

    i don't get it.. why are they still trying to develop internal combustion engines (ICE) by using ammonia when they are still subject to more than 70-80% wasted energy in the form of heat.. while an EV is only 2-5% wasted energy primarily due to wires & internal resistance.. let's be clear, ammonia fueled engine is still an internal combustion engine, just modified to use ammonia instead of using Fossil fuels.. it's kinda the same inefficient engine.. is this really a new development..? it's the same engine.. soo saad

      Ok go play with your little rc car. What sad is that you are blinded by the EV lies. The components and metals needed to make the batteries are destroying the planet. Your ev takes hours to charge, loses almost half a charge in cold weather and the grid already cant support out air conditioners.

      EV’s from start to finish are just as carbon intensive as fuel vehicles along with the strip mining, child slave labor and carbon footprint in charging an EV. Now EV’s are more expensive regarding insurance as there’s many reports on them just blowing up and catching fire. Many insurance companies won’t give home insurance if an EV is stored and charged in an attached garage.
