@bret hammond Mate, if you could run 10 miles in 15 minutes, you would currently be being studied bu scientists trying to figure out how you can run at 40 miles an hour. For reference, the fastest recorded human running speed ever is 27.8 mph, and that was for twenty meters.
Years ago I was a Reno cabby. I loaded three young Brits in my cab who said they just came down from the United States Marine Mountain Warfare Center high in the Sierras, they were British Royal Marines. I asked them what they were doing up there. "Training with our American brothers" they told me.

When you go for a run and think you're hanging out and want to stop immediately... The fact someone can push themselves so far to the brink of death is absolutely amazing. Glad he was alright in the end! True warrior
@keirfree senior This has nothing to do with military power. If you pick your fights with smaller armies then sure, youre gonna win, this is simply the case with the british army. Also try think about if your comment makes sense before sperging on your keyboard.
when you've been to war with basically every nation on earth you better be good at it. UK's military is small compared to Russia, China, SK, USA etc but for the most part it's one of the best trained.
@R B the only thing stopping Germany from an invasion was air superiority. Hitler knew this and is why he wanted to completely destroy the RAF before any invasion began. The battle of Britain was, however, one of the worst conflicts Britain has experienced on mainland UK soil throughout recent history (last 100 years). But in terms of defending the skies, the RAF's home advantage and ingenuity allowed them to keep putting pilots in planes and planes in the sky. So long as that was the case, any invasion of the mainland wouldn't just be met with a reserve force and one of the greatest (although extremely stretched) navies in the world, but also fighter planes and bombers. I'm not trying to play armchair general with you, but these are my understandings based on documentaries and reading. Perhaps you can allude me to some new information that would make me consider what you've said with more thought?
I must say, this Major Scotty Mills comes across as a really level-headed, intelligent and sincere officer. Alright, his English is not exactly what you'd call posh, but he seems to be the type of man leading by example and not just by loudness. And this is what instills respect into the ordinary squaddie and he will follow such an officer anywhere. And singing the "Lambeth Walk" during a marathon - my goodness... Great leader in charge of great men.

Amazing by the Marines there, Record achieved no matter what the Guinness people say. Also Bret, this is reality, not some illusion and top secret superhuman thing.
@bret hammond Mate, if you could run 10 miles in 15 minutes, you would currently be being studied bu scientists trying to figure out how you can run at 40 miles an hour. For reference, the fastest recorded human running speed ever is 27.8 mph, and that was for twenty meters.
@bret hammond You just stick to playing with yourself, that way you'll keep yourself safe from a severe slapping.
Years ago I was a Reno cabby. I loaded three young Brits in my cab who said they just came down from the United States Marine Mountain Warfare Center high in the Sierras, they were British Royal Marines. I asked them what they were doing up there. "Training with our American brothers" they told me.
What year was this? me and a couple of oppos were there in 2005.
Jason PriceHow extraordinary.
I was working as a petrol pump attendant in Reno back in '05 and I seem to recall a yank taxi driver with 3 British RM passengers.
Wow, that's amazingly coincidental.
USARMY 12N SGT Ret, the record belongs to the Royal Marines! They put everything they had and then some. All heart and effort.
Tremendous effort and dedication. Admiration from across the Pond from a former US Army Paratrooper.
Without doubt the world's finest fighting force. Nothing but the utmost respect for her majesty's finest!
Apart from the Paras ;)

How is this not being ratified? Surely Guinness would have an observer on site to confirm the record who would have raised any issues about clothing before they set out?!
Guinness is only interested in money. You've got to pay them to send their own independent official out and there are so many other records out there that have shocking standards. Check out Mike Chang on the Guinness youtube channel, 0 reps
Broke the record in my book..Job well done lads
I got real emotional towards the end, the fact that you have to dig deep to the core when theres nothing left in the tank, is nothing short of a miracle. Truly inspiring and humbling.
Well done team! Chief Warrant Officer (CWO4 Cryptology), USN, Retired, 1973-1995.
When you go for a run and think you're hanging out and want to stop immediately... The fact someone can push themselves so far to the brink of death is absolutely amazing. Glad he was alright in the end! True warrior
any commonwealth army knows when you see an nco with a singlet on, you know youre gonna have a bad day
I agree with you... but you realise that main speaker is not an NCO but a commissioned officer.. He is a Major.

Damn, I rucked 26.2 miles in 6 hours and almost died. These guys are Olympic level athletes, respect.
Thats a hell of a pace
for the relatively small country Britain has one of the best if not the best military in the world
The UK has a rich history of wars.
deffinately doesnt have the best if youre talking about sheer power, but training, yeah id say one of the best if not the best
Ian Soutryer you don’t have to be “posh” to be an officer. He probably started out as a private and worked himself up.
give them the bloody record they deserve it. my dad was in royal marines ww2 and was proud of him as well of them
Agree, with the person as R. I. P.

Credit to these lads, and also credit to the Royal Artillery for setting up such a long lasting record too.
The marines are world breakers. They protected and saved me many times.
Omg you guys have my utmost respect well done and hold your heads high be proud of your accomplishment and to all armed forces past and present..... Thank you so much for your service.

I served in the US Army for 11 years both as enlisted and officer. As far as I’m concerned these magnificent bastards I’m proud to call “friends and allies” BROKE THE RECORD. WELL DONE, MATES!!
They did & thanks
Class Reply Brother !!!
I think that the PTI is absolutely brilliant, he's kept their minds off of the gruelling pain by constantly talking to them and making them laugh.
This is a perfect example of the Marines mantra of "cheerfulness in the face of adversity."🇬🇧🇬🇧✌✌
42:36 Special Boat Service veteran. That's badass. Can't believe I only saw this now and it's my 3rd time watching.
I always keep a decent distance from anyone wearing that kind of insignia in public - There's no reason why the bloke couldn't be legit, but there are so many lizards buying kit on ebay and then walting around at events now, that it's just impossible to tell.
Then again, I ain't going to go poking him in the chest either - A fractured skull on my part may offend.
Gentlemen... Well done! To those individuals at Guinness World Records two things you need to know. 1st - After seeing these men do what they have done and not get the credit, all I have to say is I WOULDN’T PISS ON YOUR PUBLICATION IF IT WAS ON FIRE! 2nd - Come here to Texas and I can show you what you can do with YOUR RECORDS. To those men in the uniform... There is a open door, a cold beer, and BBQ waiting on this side of the pond. 👏🏻
Give them the world record they did the run with 40 pounds of weight and beat the time by 2 minutes
its a wonder these record numpties didn't say you didn't break the record because you set it on smooth ground and cooler conditions and where there was less traffic, especially if they are moaning at what kit they are wearing,
Amazing effort lads. Ex 3 PARA. respect to you guys.
ROYAL ARTILLERY did well setting a 20 year record.
@Tiny mod yes up the gunners …. 22 air defence in the 1980s and proud to have served with a fine body of men and proud to have been part of organisation that set a world record and kept it for so long, hopefully one day well get it back

As a person who has ran 7 marathons in my life. To run to you almost died is because he didn't want to give up until it got really bad. Respect to runners and why they run.
Well they either broke that record or set a new record wearing modern trousers. Either way they are winners
Its not only about fitness, but mainly PMA, positive mental attitude, Well done fellas
Incredible what these lads have accomplished and I absolutely love how they are not friends they are truly brothers Incredible to see the love and determination of these lads i salute every single one of them
Scotty... what a Beautifull and strong caracter that man has. Greatings from the Netherlands ps. This video learned me a lot, unfortunatly i didn't pas the test when i was 16 years old when i did my military tests in Amsterdam, i know still i needed that discipline in my life, i struggled with drugs and problems growing up.
The only thing i can do now is to learn from things like this and be a better man everyday. Thanks again for this motivating video.
Good luck my man, hope you're doing good out there.
I love the the bit where the man who’s struggling at the ends bros lift the weight out of his bag for him! That’s love right there!!!

Quite agree Carl... never even thought about boots/socks..... we'll have to include belts and t-shirts as well. Stuff Guinness, the guys knew they broke it.

the lot of you be quiet, they did it in the right kit, they are marines not morones, who cares what bag they used or what trousers they wore you go do it youself then lads
An extraordinary effort by all of these guys - not just the eight with the 40lbs, but the support runners carrying water and caffeine tablets etc (it appeared to me that they were all wearing combat fatigues, not lightweight running gear) and Scotty Mills...! Running a marathon while constantly encouraging and engaging the guys. Extraordinary.
Good work by my brothers across the pond! This was a very motivational video.
Thank you for sharing this amazing video, I am impressed with the leadership, mental toughness, and dedication displayed by Scotty and the entire Royal Marines.

Did Serena Williams use the same wooden racket as Billie Jean King? Nope. Guinness has their heads up their World record ARSES.

They can't have the record due to trousers being 'modern', christ the boots they were wearing were aswell! 100% a record and should be proud
Maybe Guinness wants them to go back to running in leather stocks and hob-nailed boots?
They won that record fair and square, mega effort Marines.

Oh, and by the way to these morons at Guinness World Records. The mission is to run a marathon as a team with 40 pounds in your backpack and in military gear, the same boots and trousers you would wear in combat. So, I would say mission accomplished.
