So basically, these are similar shoes with similar attributes and capabilities, and choosing between them comes down to one's preferences in geometry and underfoot feel. Just put of curiosity, I tried on the Glycerin Max and jogged around the shop for a bit, and was surprised at how nimble it felt for being such a great block of a shoe.
A very helpful video so thanks 👍. As a simple consumer Brooks confusing me by having max versions of both Ghost & Glycerin! Not sure why they can’t just combine tech and make 1 version of Ghost as daily trainer, 1 Glycerin as more cushioned daily trainer and then perhaps a max stack recovery shoe like NB do with the More? Then 3 shoes and clear what the distinction is.
I get Achilles pain when using the Glycerin max even on a super slow easy run. I had to take the shoe back to the store for a refund. I think that it is due to the combination of a softer heel, firm forefoot and rocker which creates a pivot point in the midfoot/forefoot area. So I land with an effective negative drop, then my foot has to transition over the pivot and then down the other side into the rocker. Not a smooth transition at all. Went back to the Superblast and all is fine again!
i find i do better with firm shoes as well, very counterintuitive to realize that "soft protective shoes" don't actually prevent injury but could cause them...
Brooks needs to reduce the drop on the main glycerin line. 10mm is too much for a lot of runners. I enjoy many Brooks shoes. Hyperion max 2 was my fav shoe of 2024.
Not sure if it’s cause I am lighter and generally put less force into the shoe but I find if I am not putting force into the shoe I get Achilles flare ups and I wonder if it is just too stacked for me to get that spring mechanism
I get Achilles pain also and I am a heavier runner (190). I think that it is due to the combo of a softer heel, firm forefoot and forefoot rocker. It creates a weird transition where I land with an effective negative drop, then you get a weird transition climbing up to the firm forefoot and then down the other side into the rocker..
I went with the glycerin max. really enjoying it!
I love my Glycerin Max. I take it out when my legs are tired from running the previous day on my Superblast 2.
Love the max so much. Wish they’d put our more colorways.

G Max could be my next max cushion shoe (currently I have the NB More v.4).
Blown away the Max doesn’t come in a wide option while the 22 comes in not just wide but also x-wide.
Definitively Glycerin Max. It’s a real confortable shoe for cruising all around. Too much drop for the 22 for me

I’m actually surprised Nick preferred the GM over the G22. Seems he usually prefers the more nimble option.
I knew Tom had to be high IQ, not from the hoodie but from the structure, brevity and way of speaking.
do you feel a big difference between 10mm drop and 6mm drop?
