    After several months of messing around with this on and off, I’m able to play it from start from finish. Which does sound insane for 30 seconds of music. Thanks for allowing a complete newbie like me learn this amazing melody, Olly!

      Thanks and I'm glad that you've found some of my videos useful - yes just working on the basics is a good idea, and just focus on one or two simple ideas - if I ever feel a bit lost or overwhelmed with a concept I always just go back to the basics

      Hey, thank you :) I have a couple of recordings of it on my channel, although not sure if you'd call them advanced.. someone has posted the transcription of Bill Evans from Kind of Blue on UA-cam, should be easy to find with a search of that helps?

    Olly...I'm confused with what happens after the coda in measure 10? You play G,Bflat, D, E chord...but the chord in measure 11 starts with another Dmin9 (F on the top)...not an E. Please explain?

    • @ollyonpiano
      @ollyonpiano  Рік тому +1

      Hi Scott - When you get to the coda, you play bar 11 instead of bar 10, not as well as i.e. you jump straight to 11 as soon as you get to the coda sign. Hope that makes some sense

    • @scottkb2000

      @@ollyonpiano Thanks...I had a feeling that was the way to play it. It seems unresolved stopping at the high F...

    Beautiful....Im a little confused tho....When I first learned Blue in Green like 2 years ago, I learned it starting on D-9 and I've played along with the original recording and it sounds spot on to the recording. However, the iReal Pro app has it starting on Gmin with a very similar progression that you have here (with the chromatic Db7 going to C-7 etc). Where does this come from? Is this starting from a different section of the song? Is this a chord sheet of a different recording of Blue in Green (I know Bill Evans has several solo recordings of Blue in Green)..any insight into this?

    • @ollyonpiano
      @ollyonpiano  5 років тому +2

      Hey. On the original recording on Kind of Blue there's a piano intro that does start on a dm11 (dm9). The actual tune, as notated in the real book starts on the Gm7 (When Miles plays his first note). Real book charts rarely include intros and just give the head of the tune. Hope that clears it up?

    • @moondancermarina
      @moondancermarina Рік тому

      Hi, thanks for sharing your work 👐 I've taken it from Real Book I and it starts with Bbmaj7#11 🥴@@ollyonpiano is it because a different edition maybe?

    • @ollyonpiano
      @ollyonpiano  Рік тому +1

      Hi Marina - Yes probably a different print edition, but Bbmaj7#11 is virtually the same as a Gm7 with an E in the melody (just a G in the bass instead of a Bb) Both work equally well @@moondancermarina

  • @otanodelana9822
    @otanodelana9822 4 роки тому

    does it start on gminor13 or bmajor#11? cause different versions seem to suggest either. is that a purely stylistic choice?

    • @ollyonpiano
      @ollyonpiano  4 роки тому +1

      Either works well since they're basically the same minus the G in the bass for the BMaj7#11
