I tend to cube it to 6mm with a cutter and then rinse it with warm water to help it sink, unless I'm planning on just fishing shallow then I cube it and use it as it is
I'd start dobbing corn or bread early on for some carp, if your catching them then carry on if not then maggots at the bottoms of the far slope just feeding lightly and fishing a nice light rig to cstch a bit of everything. There's loads of silverfish to cstch
