on a civic a check engine light is pretty permanent once you hit about 100k miles just because it recognizes small leaks etc about pretty much anything so my guess is probably but I wouldn't worry too much

Hey help and thanks! My 03 civic LX has a clogged d converter what can I do like this to bypass expensive converter replace and at the same time put on some cooler parts like this?
Check engine light or limp mode at all with the cat being gone? I've got one of your headers but read on forums that it'll cause a limp mode if it doesn't have the cat but I've also read that some civics of this generation don't have issues with the cat gone.
The factory manifold has a cat built right into it and there are 2 o2 sensors built into it. One before the cat and one right after it. The rear one measures the exhaust after being passed through the cat so the reading should be different than the one before the cat. Since you're deleting the cat all together both readings will be the same. What you want to do is put an "o2 sensor spacer" on the o2 bung at the bottom. It pulls the sensor away from the exhaust stream so it picks up less and makes the ECU think cats operating normally.
These delete the cat that was in the factory manifold. Not sure if you can install a cat after this and pass a visual inspection. At least in california, you can't.
Was the top nut on exhaust flange welded in place ? Mine seem to not budge so with a drill and extension with 12 mm will that get it off from underside as you did ? Anyone ?this Guy seems to not reply 🤦♂️
None of the flange bolts should be welded on, they may be seized. Try to use some penetrating fluid. Spray the fluid on the bolts and let them sit for in between 5-15 min and try to break them loose it should work out if not you can always use a gas torch and heat them up and then get your ratchet and break them loose.
It was just rusted on there hard i used WD-40 and a 25” breaker bar to break it loose although my socket kind of rounded the bolt a little bit it did come off easy.
you legit think some headers are gonna give you any significant gains? this is why honda dudes arent taken seriously lmao. these might give you 5 hp if the AC aint running, if youre lucky. if this is the only thing youve done to your d series.
@@jamesbaker1392 Its a cat delete on a car with already a whopping 115hp tuned with a sluggish MAP sensor. You are gonna notice the difference... Granted these things can be ran into the ground because that MAP sensor gives no fucks about intake leaks.
Doesn't matter if it adds 5 or 15....every bit that you add is that much more that you didn't have. And then if you do other small stuff, like add cold air intake, a decent exhaust....it all adds up. A bunch of small pluses can end up pretty decent, so don't be so hard about it. James baker
Everything from 2001-2005 civic should fit a 2004 civic but it depends on if its the si model or non si model of its not the si then youre working ex through lx civics these headers should fit all lx models the ex models have a different downpipe you would need different headers because of the location of your catylitic converter and the shape and length of the downpipe the 02 sensors in the ex and lx are also in different places make sure you get the ones that fit right for the car but watch out for emmsions of you drive the lx model becaise there is no cat on the manifold it isnt street legal the ex has the cat on the downpipe so whatever header you use on that model will be street legal no matter what

Hey.. How could i hook up a header with No cat and not throw a check engine light? I bought the Magna flow header and Cat togther and it was Junk.. Please Help
Leave the up stream(air/fuel)o2 in, pull the down stream o2, leave it plugged in and just tuck is some where it can get a flow of fresh air, its post cat so it needs to read "clean exhaust" this way also gives you the worlds most efficient converter on emissions! Lol
If it has a d17a1 yes, but if you live in a state where emissions tests are done this header deletes the catalytic converter which is not street legal. If anything you can do an ex exhaust swap and relocate the secondary o2 sensor to the downpipe, but that would require a full replacement of your whole exhaust set up because again if emissions are done in the state you live you need a catalytic converter on the downpipe or you could get an ebay dummy pipe for the ex which also works out with no lights most of the time and the ex exhaust set up should bolt up no issue.
@@joshuadelmas9723 most headers should bolt up to the factory d-pipe no problem unless they're made for bigger diameter piping which should be stated when buying an aftermarket header and if so, means your s.o.l.
