For this video, a new edition was prepared from the original sources, prints and manuscripts for Vivaldi's music. In preparing this performing edition, we made the musicological decision that the indication for mutes in the Allegro ("con Sordine") for the violins is misplaced in the original print (there is no indication in the Manchester part books), and the mutes should be in the Largo (and, importantly, not in the final movement). The mutes now provide a textural fence between the violas and the soloist. Vivaldi writes that the last movement is a rustic dance to the sound of bagpipes (“Zampogna”). So we also listened to some old style Italian bagpipes and added a few notes to the drones in Vivaldi's bass part to recreate this brilliant and special sound. Here is our new version, with the muted violins in the slow movement, and the vibrant, un-muted final allegro.
Ms Youssefian plays a baroque violin by Jason Viseltear, 2016, after Carlo Giuseppe Testore, Milan, at the sign of the eagle.
Special thanks to Michael Talbot. NB: Subtitles are by Antonio Vivaldi!

Man, it's just how they're all color-coordinated, the way Alana looks like she's having so much fun... The vibes are truly immaculate.

You just feel the complete synchronicity with the whole ensemble, and she just drives the tunes with her performance;. There are once in a lifetime synchronicity events like that. This is my favorite Vivaldi performance of Vivaldi Four Seasons yet. They its not just tje sound but how this magnificent ladies and gentlemen flow with the music. It's amazing!

Wow! These girl violinists really get into it!
I sent this video and Vivaldi's glorious allegro to his "La Primavera" to my friends as an Easter greeting this year.
I LOVE how shes playing as INTENDED not written. so many people just read the music, Alana is breathing it.
Yeah, UA-cam has many versions but by far this is the best .. I think this their approach to change up the music or the theme 💯💯♥️
Yes. It was actually quite common in baroque times to make those little improvisations in a piece.
Might be wrong, but that's called playing musically, you're kinda expected to play musically unless specified to not to.
In fact she is doing much more than simply reading the scores; She is doing what a real musician should do: translating the written notes with technic and soul.
@@MrFranciscojmm yes!! This is incredible. The music leaps from her violin and I can breathe in the blossoming trees.
I have been listening to this beautiful performance with my now 11 months old son since the start of spring and wish I could describe the smile on his face when the music comes on! It’s the right length for him to enjoy. We have played enough times for him to recognize when it’s the pause and not the end. Rest assured, in the end he claps with shouts of Bavo bavo (bravo!) thank you for the beautiful performance! ❤ pro tip for parents- start playing Vivaldi as per the season for your child and in one year, your child will be able to recognize Vivaldi four seasons!

Good thing to do. My son from birth listened to a classical music CD compilation to his toddler days. He is magnificent student and well accomplished for his age as a young man. 🎯🎯🎯 THIS is music!
Vivaldi let you feel the Spring. Immortal, Heavenly music
Alana Youssefian turns this Vivaldi favorite into something new and fun, joyful and dynamic. She is a splendid performer who clearly enjoys and has fun with the music, to our great delight.
Stephen Bryen she’s a gem. The way she plays with the other violins and the whole orchestra. God, that face of having fun!
exactly
I would say rediscovered rather than new. This is the playfulness and performative force that was removed from "classical" music during the actual classical period and is only now being rediscovered when musicians stop playing baroque like classical pieces.
Totalmente de acuerdo! 😍😍😍
Agrrrd
The violin parts are played so delicately by all the musicians that almost mimic the delicate cacophony of birds enjoying the springtime.
:)
So refreshing to see the lead violinist play like she wrote the music! She’s not performing but truly experiencing the music she’s playing!
Instead of a normal ringing bell, my school used this movement every morning. And that's how I discovered Vivaldi. True story.
One can only imagine you didn't go to a ghetto school in Chicago. That is an amazing story. Thank you for sharing.
Vivaldi would be so proud of Alana's musical genius of his great music. Bravo.
Agree! Thank you.
Absolutely. Superb. Violinist !
Vivaldi. Very happy ! That sounds of
Spring🌴🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
I wish Vivaldi, who died in 1741 at the age of 63, was alive today to see Alana performing one of his masterpieces.

@Bears Half-Moon there are two options in subtitles menu, English and Italian. You can choose :)

How lucky we are to hear this as many as we wanted. Imagine people during Vivaldi's time, maybe just once in their lifetime
That's very true! Although people would play the music at home.
Yeah, imagine diseases, lice, plague and ringworm between the toes. And 💩 in the middle of the road.
I think its the first time that i watch someone be so joyful while playing classical music. Generally they sustain a very stoic face... while this lady is smiling and making connection with the orchestra between bow movements... amazing.
VIVALDI YESTERDAY. VIVALDI TODAY. VIVALDI TOMORROW. *VIVALDI FOREVER!!!!!!*

Absolutely my favorite composer!
He is great, but there are a couple of others who are even greater.
You can argue all day long about who is the greatest. Only one person decides who is my favorite!😂
viva la vida?
That was such a magnificent season!! That woman was playing with her soul... and the joy on her face..........
Thanks so much!
The muse comes down from heaven to give us the great joy.
I don’t want to be dramatic but I just fell in love with the music, the entire orchestra, the audio and video team, Vivaldi himself, and the lead violinist.
We love drama
I don't want to sound dramatic
But the same thing happened to me.
I can live with that kind of drama
Same as me
Alana commands the room in a totally charming way. She's expressive without being distracting. I'm seeing this version for the first time, and enjoying it very much!
Breath taking performance and audio quality. If you are only allowed to listen to one version of "Spring", this must be the one.
I agree!
I can't imagine the joy on Vivaldi's face if he got to hear this performance of his work. Bach was a big fan of Vivaldi and was deeply influenced by his concertos and arias. In my mind there could be no greater praise as a musician and/or composer than to have Bach himself compliment your work.
I am listening to all 4 movements bc I want a friend to play one of them at my celebration of life when I pass. He would play the entire concerto if I asked him but we are great friends and I dont want him to cry and I know he will.
Obviously I've heard this piece several times, but this interpretation was crisp, clean and wonderful. I love the fact that it was played using period instruments. I also loved The Winter & Summer as well as all of the other performances you've posted . Thank you for all of them and please continue.
We will do our best!
@@VoicesofMusic Please record and upload Autumn also. I'm eagerly waiting for it.

I must say, as a trained musician I've heard this concert played so many times. A sickening number of times. But having heard you play other pieces and liking your usual interpretation, I decided to give it a shot. At some point, tears started to form in my eyes. This is truly phenomenal...
Thank for you bringing Vivaldi to life for the 1500 elementary school students I teach each week! Absolutely the best "Spring" recording I've ever heard (and I've heard many)! Reminds me that we are making MUSIC, not just playing sounds or notes on a page, we are communicating life! Bravo!
Wow, thank you!
Alana's smiles just send me .... The pure joy of the music.
The most joyful and sensual interpretation of Vivaldi’s masterpiece I’ve heard in 70 years!
Agree fully (my fave composer, btw)!
As Voices of Music passes the 400K subscribers mark, we thank you all for listening to our channel. And our fabulous musicians!
No, we thank YOU. May the amount of effort and love you put into this channel pay off a thousandfold!
Lei è il violino che prende sembianze umane come Michelangeli per il pianoforte. Artista eccezionale, sublime, espressiva, sicura di sé stessa. Complimenti davvero!
Just watching her play added 10 years to my life. Her energy was so amazing, it put a big dumb smile on my face.
My neighbors listened horrible music. I put this intrepretation on pretty high volume. Horrible music no more. Thanks Voices of Music! I love you a lot!!!
I did have people next door to myself playing very very loud music so I put the speakers against the wall, full blast, on repeat, same song. Then went out for a long long drink. I've never heard a sound since. Ha ha ha. 👍😎😎😎🍀
Best of the best, 👍👍👍😁😁😁😎😎😎🍀🍀🍀🍀

The war of musics... Vivaldi , really is not one of theses horrible musics!!!
Sean Sweeney Brlliant idea, educating the world one speaker at a time! When my neighbours play up I put on The Right of Spring, serves them right.
The Sound and Recording quality is astounding that I can almost hear the turning of a page in 1:15 . If one day I get rich and old, i would regret not listening to their performance live.
Thank you.
Such a spirited and virtuosic performance. I remember Jim Svejda (musicologist with KUSC radio station Los Angeles) saying that the best performances come from players who are clearly enjoying themselves onstage. The wisdom of that observation on clear display here.
It seems like the birds are feeling this piece of music note by note.
:)
Yes
The violin player is so good, she seems to be leading the group with her body movements, she's amazing!
Absolutely one of the best ensembles.
Its freacking how long a music can get, and still impress !
Alana really changed the piece with her crisp articulations. Her solos were very expressive of the story.
Now, this is speaking music. Beautiful language and pronouncing. Brava Alana and whole group. Greetings from Rio de Janeiro.
Wow!!!! What a fresh new take it was discovering spring all over again! Winter is my favorite but her interpretation is absolutely gorgeous

Alana Youssefian - what a full of charming and emotionl playing!
This interpretation is definitely “worth it!” Never heard it performed this way before. Thanks for publishing this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is my go to music, in the car, house, and out and about, especially when I want to sound others out! Oh to see the lead strings being so enthrolled in her music gives it such essence, life, and embodiment! The violin is the most splendid of instruments ; always evoking emotions. 🎯🎯🎯🎯❤️🌎
I would like to encourage everyone to look at the story behind The Four Seasons/Vivaldi🎯💥
They way they played those birds in the first movement was so open and free!
She plays very elegantly, it is beautiful to see Alana playing!

I have listened to this music many times, but never felt so much joy as in this performance.
I loved all Four Seasons performances by Voices With Music. The sound quality is absolutely impeccable!!
Wow, if i may just say something, your baroque violins are PHENOMENAL. The sound, the reverb of the violins is just, astonishing how good it sounds. It sounds so unique, so original, so natural and so emotional. Seems modern day violins (besides the really nice ones), just lack that quality sound.
I've been playing the violin for 15 years, and man i really want to play one of these baroque violins!!!
Give it a try!
I feel the type of strings used (gut-silk vs metal ?) make substantial difference :))
1st (Allegro) movment: 0:01
2nd (Largo) movment: 3:37
3rd (Allegro) movment: 6:24
Those strings reach into the core of heart and soul.
Ravishing performance and interpretation.
Thank you.

I have no words, just.... WOW
Magnífico. Linda música. Música para meus ouvidos 🤩. Isso é música de verdade. Da pra fechar os olhos e relaxar. Não essas porcarias de hoje em dia.
I thoroughly enjoyed the fact they used instruments belonging to the time period, It brought a different level of authenticity. This was very enjoyable to listen to.
Honestly, Music, especially these types of music have the power to transfer you from all the stress, or the way I describe it as, from Chaos to peaceful liberation. I don't know these artists. I don't even from a western country. But these music and their interpretation transcends myself to another dimension. Thanks. #Voices of Music and #Alana Youssefian, I m forever going to stay here.
All welcome!
Did just that for me now
It must be an amazing feeling to be the first recommendation on youtube for the 4 seasons of Vivladi. and to actually deserve it !
I have heard a lot of performances of this both live and recorded, and have played the viola part in concert, but honestly I've never heard it played this well. Not only is the soloist perfect and virtuosic, but the members of this orchestra are perfect too... not just in their musicianship, but in every other facet of their playing too. You can tell by watching them that it's a passion and fun all rolled into one, which is what music making should be!
This music is wonderful. As a fan of Baroque music, I am so glad I found a channel dedicated to authentic approach to this period.
Breathtaking performance...thank you.
Thanks for listening
