    DO NOT leave your razor open when you are done with it. Just letting you know now. Do not do that.

    This was a great video. I'm from Indiana and signed up for school. I went, but I never understood what all I was suppose to do. I basically had to learn on my own. I started not to like school because the teacher did not explain anything. I thought I'm going to graduate and not know anything. Coloring the hair, the teacher would mix my colors, but she didn't tell me why or how much of each to use. I learned that there were other dos-satisfied as well. Cosmetology is what I wanted to do for a long time, but learning was nothing like I thought it would be.When I signed up, I was pregnant and did not know it at the time. 9 months later, I gave birth and was immediately sent to Kentucky because my son had a rare vision dis-order. I started to miss school. I signed up full time and asked if I can go to part time and they said no. They said I would have to start over and pay the same fee.I just quit because my son needed to have surgeries and he was more important. Then over the years, I struggled in getting to go back because my son was autistic as well. Now he is 16 and I am able to go back. I will be signing up at a school 40 miles away. I will continue to watch these videos and learn all I can. I want to be a good beautician.Thank you so much for this video!

    I thought a Graduated haircut is cut at 45 degree angle cut. From what I was taught it looks like she is cutting 90 degree angle cut. I'm in Alabama I did Pivot Point Fundamentals and my daughter did Milady her book says same as above. I guess every state is different on the angle cuts. The instructor is good.

    I wish my instructor was this helpful. Our instructors were too concerned with their own appearances and let the students run the school. I'm starting a different school in January and I learned more through this video than I ever did in class. I feel a lot better starting again.

    Thank you for teaching about using the measuring lines on the comb .. I knew about them but have never had an instructor use them in a cut demo. I am taking my practical on Wednesday and I feel more confident because of your video.

    It used to be that way before, each procedure was supposed to be assumed to be a new client, so all the drape had to be changed, but for California, now you don't have to change the drape, but, if you do, no points are taken away from you; they will assume that the drape was soiled and that's why you changed it.

    For state board test, we do not need to cut the top with the razor, but in general, there are many ways to cut hair with razor; try holding the hair up and using the hair under your fingers, or slice it over the hair sideways; practice different ways and you will find your own.

  • @BeautyHealthTravel
    @BeautyHealthTravel  11 років тому

    There is no regulations on braiding or a state board test, you can do it without a license, but if you choose to cut the hair, even if it is extension hair, you need to have a license

    You are one of the best instructor and as one of the comments this is exactly like our State Board in Ohio, but we were shown once, never practiced in school and have mocks next week, so I have no clue if we razor on the sides and layer all the way around, the directions make me think so, but class was over, holiday came and now it is color week so clueless! I love watching you please make more videos I can understand you so well and thanks for your time and careingness truly, from Ohio

I am so impressed with this channel and this educator it amazes me how one instructor has so much passion for her students and is so clear, wow!Do you know if we layer the bottom on the sides by the ear with the razor? Thanks, really appreciate any answer,truly!

    Thanks for this very helpful video! The regulations read as follows on the PSI State Boards website for Texas:
    "Establishes entire perimeter guideline using razor to determine length" Does that mean for Texas we need to part out the entire perimeter, including the fringe area, and razor cut that, and then proceed with the sheers for the remainder of the haircut? The next reads, "Follows established guideline throughout haircut with traveling guide using shears". Thanks again!

    You will be fine with one mannequin and a plastic hand for manicure. You can wrap a plastic bag around the finger bowl and take it back with you, or, if the exam room still has the shampoo bowls left from the old test times, dispose it there. Some have poured the water in the wet towel bag full of towels that absorbed it with no problem. You can also ask your state board instructor for more solutions, or, simply take an empty water bottle with you and place it in the kit to use it for water.

    This is for California and all NIC adapted tests throughout the country. Most state boards have adapted the NIC practical and written tests. Either way, once you apply, you are supposed to get a booklet from your state explaining what is required for your state; they should have the information at their website, too. Good luck!

Please let me know how many I should bring. And I don't know I have to change mannequins for color test or facial test. The Bulletin says the for the Demo of Cuticle Care, the student immerses fingers in bowl of water. How do I dispose of water during final cleanup?

  • @soccermom0134

    So would that mean since it is almost exact Ohio too, because I dont know if I should layer the sides around the ear with the razor? we were shown once at the end of class, never practiced and have mocks next week, I was pretty shocked bc I love my school, it is very intense and elite, but I never heard of not practicing the most important hair cut and if we fail one chance to make it up and if we fail again we are out, I thought this was to help us pass state board!

    Cystic acne impaired my life for countless years. I did shut myself away because of the problem. I tried each and every crackpot theory available. It did not go away. If I use one mannequin for the entire test, the mannequin will be very wet for haircutting test and chemical waving test. How I can apply shaving cream or thick gel on the wet hair? And after that I still use the mannequin with dirty gel hair for facial. That why I feel confused. Thanks you so much for answer.

  • @shexbites

    How she does the back is interesting. I was taught differently so this is something im going to have to try sometime. I am not a fan of how she does the crown though. When i cut i just take a section from the back and pull it to the front making verticle sections checking to make sure it comes out in same length. Overall wonderful instructor and great information.

  • @blackberry815
    @blackberry815 11 років тому

    Ny state board is completely different. The sectioning is different and the 90 starts from the crown after the guideline is established. I think the video headings you have made should specify the state you are in because some people may get messed up if they are studying for another states practical exam.

    The point above your ears is the pariatal ridge and once you get to the back that's your occipital bone. Then above the occipital and below the apex is the crown. Also I thought you were supposed to close your razor when you combed or took sections down for client protection...
