The talk of modern YGO was interesting. I started playing World Championship 2009 (early 5D's ds game) just casually because I wanted to see how 'new' mechanics like synchro worked and I kinda like it so far. That meta is like 10 years old now, but most things were still easy to wrap my head around, and what I've seen/heard of xyz seems similar. Pendulum and link summoning is where I just give up trying because too much is going on. Synchro/xyz era looked like the best time to play imo, the power creep, complicated effects and board control went overboard after that point.
I've seen xyz be a power monster too, just not as bad as pendelum and link. A friend regularly pulls out a rank 4 beast that takes only two level 4's, and has a powerful ability. But, I know what you mean. I adore the synchro generation games.
For reference, though I know it's way late, the tests do actually do things! If you get a good enough score, you can get a rare kind of pack in the shop on the weekend, and if you're perfect you get another on sunday only as well. No other ways to get those packs IIRC.
Wouldn't be too hard, the first really powerful monsters you get are earth (battle ox, axe raider, two-headed king rex, muka muka). Using Gaia Power over sword of the deep seated would've made things much quicker, he got the spell in his first pack heist and it would've ended duels a lot quicker. If anyone reads this you are a legend... What is the best Deck for this game? I finished the Story and want to grind all loot you can get. I play a monarch tribut Deck rn which works good but I often lose to Zane,Yaden or Aster

If two duelests sit down and one has a beat-down deck and the other doesn't then do they shake hands and say "GG" because they don't need to play to find out the beat-down deck is most optimal?
@@ZyrusSmith Shame you can't run GOAT on this, scapegoat is on the limited list in this game. On the other hand, triple Stratos and all the banned cards turning to limited post-story.
there are certain storyevents that will kick in as soon as you met people in specific places at certain times. The first one is you have to go to the docks late at night. Then after a few days the next storyevent will unfold. If you want to you could spoiler yourself and just google these events

I'm looking for her too at the moment. For me it helped to clear out the spirits first. She usually spawns if you duel at least 3 times per day or if you duel like 2/3 of the day. I'm still not 100% sure

New age took staregy out game. Just basically summon op monster out and forfeit if u dont thats way play anymore. Very boring

yeah I took a break after GX and synchro/xyz was still easy to get into

Pretty sure they don't do anything, the rare packs are when ships and submarines dock.
Yes and the chance for that happening is determined by the test, if you score a perfect 10 you are guaranteed both
I like how the starting duelists have 64 cards in their deck making their deck illegal
it was not illegal when this game came out, heck even 5D's limit was 80 cards in the DS games
When this game came out there was no limt to cards in a deck only minimum of 40

No because beat-down (and most other aggro types) tend to lose to control decks.
