- Freaks and Geeks is a television show that lasted only one season in 1999. It follows a brother and sister through their high school experiences. These are my thoughts about it.

How hard is it to say Linda Cardellini instead of "this actress". She's had a long career, and even if she's not a household name, most people under a certain age at least know her face and can name numerous roles she'd been in by the time this was posted. She didn't just fade away. .
She is still going strong as well. "Dead to Me" got renewed and it might not be the biggest show but its pretty great.
L take
I know this comment is old but I love Linda Cardellini!! I have a nostalgic appeal for her
I don’t commit to many shows and it takes a lot for me to watch an entire series. I definitely enjoyed this show but was disappointed to find out they only made one season.
When I was watching it I didn't even realize it was one season.
Not by their choice.
It was canceled during the writer strike iirc.
But in it's own charming way, that's the cult value of it. It's better it has one really good series than another declining series in my opinion but that's it.
When I was 14 I abandoned all my geek friends and started hanging out with the freaks, it was like watching my own story. So don't tell me this was unrealistic, it was totally realistic.
It's really got me when Bill Haverchuck watching TV alone. Only one of few TV or movies moments make me almost cry.
I agree 100%
Yes! And it was relatable.
It felt so genuine....definitely the most underrated scene
The one that always got me was where Sam came home from helping Neal look for his dad's mistress's house and his parents had bought him an Atari.
That, and when Coach Fredricks reaches out to him by watching Dallas with him.
Gets me every time.
I liked Freaks and Geeks; it seemed pretty relatable.
Notice this review not bothering to name a single female actor, drooling over the male actors and then snubbing 'the actress who played Lindsey' who 'wouldn't be much heard of after this'.
Since Freaks and Geeks, Lisa Candellini was in ER, Mad Men and Brokeback Mountain - pretty well-known, high-grossing stuff.
I agree with you 100%, I made a similar comment myself just now. But, uh, her name is Linda Cardellini.
@@rachelc3535 oh man, my bad
She’s also Hawkeye’s wife in the MCU
Exactly what I noticed too
Everything is sexist. The mice in my walls are sexist.
Way to praise an actress without ever naming her once.. The person who plays Lindsay is Linda Cardellini and she currently plays in Dead to Me (great show as well).
This is the most accurate HS tv show I’ve ever seen
Bill in the hospital was one of my favorite moments of the show! Cmooooon
Strongly disagree. Felt very forced.
Yeah forced. As in forces me to weep like a little baby every time. Love the content btw.
I have to admit I was disappointed when he decided not to go to the convention with them.
Alan gave him the peanuts because he was too immature to recognize real danger. (He thought he would just break out in hives or something...)
I liked the ending with Alan off on his own, a lost soul. (I also liked how it should Alan's father being a bully himself! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.)
Linda is a crazy good actress
She was also in the excellent series BLOODLINE. (I'm still sore at Netflix for cancelling it!)
her facial expressions is amazing thru out the whole show
James Franco isn’t supposed to play “the cool guy” or any generic stereotype, he’s a kid from a rough family who is trying to get by but doesn’t have a solid sense of what he needs to do. None of the main characters are meant to fit generic stereotypes like other high school drama series. It’s a series that is meant to be more realistic to what actual high school life is like and make it super relatable. Just like how high school actually was and is like, there are friend groups who give off a certain vibe, but there aren’t people who are specifically the cool popular kid, or the stereotypical jock, etc. It’s why Freaks and Geeks was cancelled. The station thought it wasn’t a good show for not fitting into the normal high school drama formula, and instead being more realistic in the storyline and follow characters who are very relatable. Which is ironically the exact reason why we all love the show
actually he kinda was supposed to play the cool guy
cool people have their life figured out are nice and go to social functions together to promote school spirit and all that aka jocks and hot kids...in the early 80's which the show is based on if you were on drugs dressed cheap and shady and are doing bad in school with a bad home life and surrounded by other kids like that you probably were seen as a freak not cool especially when you look as average as these boys do and have the issues they all seem to have with their self image angst and self esteem plus their mental and emntional states of being
I was in high school in the early 80s and a lot of show rang true of the time period. The gritty struggle to survive and maintain some level of self esteem was relatable. Some of the show was hard to watch because it was so realistic. Agree that Seth Rogan was underused. Love your videos Mike.
The whole peanut incident really reflects the attitudes of the 80's, allergies werent really known or taken seriously, hence why people like the bully did things like that to in a way 'prove' these people were lying
Zora Domain wow you nailed it for sure. Yes when I was in high school in the early 90s it was even like that to some extent
I dont think it's fair to say they underused seth Rogen, at the time it was the beginning of his career, he was only in one other thing at the time for about 5 minutes worth of footage (donnie darko) they didnt undersell him because at the time there was nothing to sell
his character was the weakest by far of the main freaks and geeks too ...the other 8 had actual emotions and dimensions...seth was like millie..sorta lame
@@razkable He did get a startling amount of depth with the storyline about his girlfriend being born with both parts
This show is so much greater than you're making it out to be.
I feel it would of worked better if it was set in the mid 90's ...the early 80's aesthetic kinda dates it ....
@@razkable You must not be old enough to appreciate the time frame. It's genius and feels just like it was made in the early 80's.
one of my favorite shows, i was crushed when it got canceled, at the time when i watched on TV i never thought it was a formulaic Show, actually i thought it was very fresh and original, and Yeah more Seth Rogen would have helped.
Actually Seth Rogen was kind of a douche on the show.
@@glyn420 I don’t think he was really a douche, just really sarcastic. Only line that made me somewhat dislike him for a bit was when Lindsey left the Freaks and he said that he always said “it’s like hanging with my grandma”. He was easily redeemed in the last couple of episodes, at least for me personally.
@@hydraarctic1554 I have watched every episode probably 10 times Seth was a Dick sorry I don’t see how it’s even debatable. He constantly was cutting in everyone. He was a clearly unhappy kid and tried to make everyone else as miserable as he was. I don’t think it’s debatable. I think you need to rewatch the show. Ken was an asshole he was a jerk to Lindsay from day one he picked on Daniel
Anytime he tried to not be a loser, he did the same to Nick. He always wanted to keep his friends as down and miserable as he was. Whenever anyone started to get happy he was right there to shit all over their parade. Seriously he was a jerk it’s not even a question.
it was seth rogens first show ever. even he said that he was learning how to act as the show went on.
Just finished this show, I really liked it. It felt very real and relatable. I'm glad Linda Cardellini is finally getting popular again, she deserves it!
i liked how they didn't have her and franco get together..thats so cliche and lame and I enjoyed busy and james together as toxic as they could be sometimes together...i liked linda better with jason segal honestly they had way better chemistry an meaningful scenes as a pair imo..
I liked the episode where Jason Siegel's father took his drum set away and he moved in with Lindsay's family and her parents introduced him to real drumming!
When the bully visits Haverchuck in the hospital that was a great moment.
About the kid going to the hospital the bully thought he was lying to get attention from a teacher he had a crush on
Mark Burns and it’s a pattern that no one believes him. Like when he told sam his crush farted or when bill kissed the popular girl.
It's very obvious you are not of the era the show portrays.. I have no problem believing a bully would test his peanut story because he thought he was just sucking up to the teacher.. This was the old days before the Internet ;) and even widespread home movies where not a thing yet so it's not impossible that he didn't even know peanut allergy was real.. The show is one of the best of all time
This could of developed into an awesome 3 series show, characters would get more background through the years. Then if anyone had some sense, kill the show before it went into its fourth season
"Freaks" was a 70's expression for pot-heads/hippies.Probably why they chose that term. Plus it rhymes with "geeks". The term burnout would be more likely to be used in the Mid-west in the late 70's early 80's though..Still a fantastic show. The episodes got better as the show went on and you end of loving each of this characters.
i feel the show could work if it had better scripts...they were not tight enough imo dialogue wise they were too stretched out and some of the funny lines were delivered to slowly after quite a few non funny lines so its not very punchy or paced well enough and you can tell they allowed some improvisation which was kept in and it hurt the show as did the forced drama..it should of went for more balance of comedy and instead it feels a little melodramatic and dawson's creek like without the intense drama and acting to carry it...they went 70 30 on the drama to comedy ratio..needs to be closer to 55 45 imo
Not much an appearance, but you gotta love Ken's (seth rogen) excessive sarcasm in the show. Great Job!
This is one of my favorite shows ever. One of my favorite shows is when Bill phone pranks the coach and they have a heart to heart and later on Coach starts dating Bill's mom and how that turns out. There are so many little things that I love about it.
I remember seeing this on Netflix about 5 years ago. I thought it was pretty good. It was strange to see so many well known young actors in some of their first roles. What surprised me the most was Sweet from Bones, who is quite tall, was the shortest geek. At the time, I lamented along with everybody else that there was no second season, but too many other shows have been cancelled before their time that this show just gets lost among the crowd of great tv shows in my mind.
Loved this show and it's a crime that it only lasted for one season. I was in high school in 1980 and this show is spot on in the portrayal of teenage life during those days.
Yep, senior in 80, ptetty accurate. Love the show. 2nd time through on netflix now
i think thats what hurt it..by 2000 no one cared about the early 80's and late 70's anymore
@@razkable people who experienced it cared.
You can't make the argument that Seth should have been used more when he wasn't a big deal back then. That's not how that works.
None of them were big back then and the ones who were, Tom Wilson and Hope Flaherty) were years past their last major hit.
My absolute favorite show of all-time. This, Firefly and Twin Peaks (I appear to have a predilections for betting on the wrong horse).
I love Freaks and Geeks! I discovered when I was around 15 and really enjoyed the show. Nice to hear another opinion on it as it’s not commonly talked about!
I really liked this show, I thought it could have been better if it had lasted longer and if NBC hadn't constantly pestered the show to be the way they wanted
I agree. This show had a lot of potential!
In the 80s a lot of people didn't understand that allergies were serious. At least that's how I remember it.
Yeah I watched it because I like Seth Rogen but when I realised he didn’t play a big part I still watched it all and had a good time
I don't understand how nobody is subscribed to this channel. I came here for mike
I just finished all 18 episodes, and I agree with your assessment entirely. I was shocked to see so many successful talents at their beginnings. There was a really wholesome family appeal to the series. I was most happy with the way they destroyed every single stereotype! Franco was phenomenal. And, everyone else did great as well. But, my favorite, most entertaining character was played by Jason Segal. Totally underrated by me until I watched this show. I'd give it 4 stars out of 5. It was definitely cancelled far too soon. Happy to add it to my nostalgia collection.
I’ve always thought that one of the most powerful periods of the show was when the character Neil was coming to terms with his parents’ marriage breaking up. That breaks my heart every time I watch it!
This was really fun. I sort of had the same reaction to you. At first didn’t think much of it but when you start putting together all the clever and thoughtful moments you can see how smart and sweet it was!
Peanut allergies were very rare back in the 80's. So it's actually legitimate that Alan would believe Bill was lying about it.
During its original run, my "freak" girlfriend insisted we watch it together because "that was so us". I didn't like it very much, it was a stark reminder of our caricature lifestyle which I was not 100% into; I was growing up. Linda Cardellini was and is always a treat to watch though. I much preferred Malcolm in the Middle and how the characters developed / grew over time.
I loved it. I actually liked the peanut allergy episode because of the bully development and showing that millie is completely aware of how Lindsey feels about her. I agree with you about the mascot episode though, it was lame. Seth rogans episodes at the end were great and i actually liked his conflict.
0:58 Ann Perkins!
I was in high school when this came out and I totally identified with Lindsay because we were the same age and going through similar life changes. Linda Cardellini was one of my first celeb crushes. Lol. Loved this show and watched every chance I could when it was on. Very underrated. Too bad it was just a summer filler show and was never picked up. At least Malcolm in the Middle came out a few months later and then Arrested Development a short 3 years later. Good times!
In terms of the peanut allergy thing, back in 1980, when the series is set, nobody had heard of nut allergies, they were not common yet. Nut allergies were only beginning to become a well known thing in the late 1990's. A kid in 1980 believing a peanut allergy was bullshit would be very believable to me.
Still doesn't make sense to me. Whether I've heard of the specific allergy or not I would still believe it to be real since people could potentially be allergic to anything.
Couldn't believe you didn't bother to learn the actors' names, particularly Linda Cardellini's.
And you're so wrong that she didn't go on to other things. Look up her credits, for God's sake.
Lindsey is the most likable character, and I fucking love this series
Good review! Again, I seem to enjoy something more than you, as this is one of my favorite shows. It has that deadpan awkward humor I like, similar to Napoleon Dynamite, and was pretty hilarious for me. My personal favorite moment in the whole show is Bill watching TV and eating grilled cheese. It’s out of nowhere but just feels very real.
Watching Garry Shandling right? It was a very well created scene.
Mike's Thoughts You’re one of the UA-camrs who actively responds to comments. It’s always cool to see that UA-camrs actually listen to their comments and don’t just ignore them.
Yeah I read just about every comment Joey. So even if I don't respond, don't feel ignored.
This show originally came on when I was in late high school so I remember it being advertised on TV all the time, but I never had the thought to ever watch it.
A few years or so ago I see it on Netflix and for some odd reason start watching it. I ended up loving it and didn't realize until I finished "Season 1" that there was no Season 2. I couldn't believe it and had to look it up on the Internet to find out how in the hell it didn't do good enough for more seasons...
It has become one of my favorite shows, and the funny thing is that any other thing that has involved Judd Apatow I just hate and can't stand. Also, I am glad the show put the least focus on Seth Rogen as I am one of those who can't stand him, and having too much of him may have made me not like the show as much.
The gym class showers episode lol. Can't speak for the girls but for us boys at my middle and HS, our gym teacher(s) made us shower after gym class. Right of passage I suppose but awkward for sure. And I graduated in 2005. I guess some things never change....
Randomly searched this show and didnt expect to find an old company man video lol
Poorly researched analysis in places. Linda Cardellini spent 6 years on E.R. and appeared as signifcant characters in two Oscar winning movies by the time this video was made. She also has a name rather than "this lady/actress"
Any no mention of Busy Philipps
one of the worst reviews of anything i’ve ever watched
I'd have to admit..this probably is one of the most matured series .
Dudes literally killed his channel with this video lmao
Damn you, Fox for cancelling this show... I mean, I get it, ratings were everything back then. And this show came out too soon after the 80's for people to get a nostalgic feel from it. But I can't help but think that if this show came out now, in a time where the digital age can sell not only 80's nostalgia, but also complex character studies focused on angsty teens demolishing their assigned stereotypes, it would have been a major hit amongst audiences, both young and old, and would have continued running for longer than it did. This is one of, if not THE MOST underrated television series of all time.
i think it should of been more early 90's based not so early 80's based...people by 2000 were nostalgic for 1990 not 1980 but i feel the timeslot killed it and channel..it was an abc type show..put it on after sabrina and boy meets world and bam
I love Freaks and Geeks! I just finished binge watching it, it was great!
I feel like this retrospective was very well researched. It feels like you should re-watch the series and at least look up the IMBD of the cast. Although Franco, Segel, and Rogen did become big actors, it’s important to note that they all have great careers. It’s also important to note that they’re early or at the beginning of their careers so being upset that Rogen was under-utilized doesn’t make much sense. His character wasn’t that vital to the show, though he did do great in his role. Also, they didn’t go out of their way to make Martin Starr look like “geek”, those are normal prescriptions. Last for now, I feel like your definition for “cool kids” is really far off. These characters portray “outcasts” or “rejects” stereotypes and I would assumed more preppy/athletic kids would be considered “cool”, which is just a different way to think about it that might make more sense.
He doesn't know what he talking about kids do strange things all the time .
The show had a lot of development problems, the writers wanted the show to be deep and dark but the studio wanted it to be funny and light hearted
tyler wdym?
The one thing about the show I didn’t like was all the loose ends. They’ll have an episode about Sam not wanting to shower in gym, and him being bullied for it, and then what happens after that episode? Does he shower during gym? They have a ton of loose ends and it bothers me. Alan’s motivations don’t really make all that much sense to me either. And after that episode the character was just thrown out. The really big thing that bothered me was when Lindsay destroyed that car, and they said she was grounded for life, but she still went out later. And she still hung out with her friends despite saying she can’t hang out with them anymore.
She didn't have a personality change she's just a smart prep school type kid that realizes they want to be more socially outgoing and not have a boring life. It happens all the time.
Just watched this in 2021 and loved it. So much heart, sad there’s only one season.
Same here also I hate Lindsay

Company Man, is that you?? I love your work and I’m happy to come across you here by chance
I know it's a year later, but as much as you praised the cast and pointed out what big stars the 3 make Freaks were, you kinda sold the rest of the cast short. All of the main cast except Samm Levine went on to bigger and better things, and a lot of the part time cast was already well known, or went on to bigger things:
Segel, Franco, and Rogen you already talked about:
Linda Cardellini(Lindsay Wier) did 6 years as a co-lead on ER, 2 years of Mad Men, Scooby Doo movies, Legally Blonde, Avengers 2
Busy Phillips (Kim Kelly) 2 seasons on Dawson's Creek, 1 season on ER, 5 seasons on Cougar Town, and now has her own late night talk show.
John Francis Daley: (Sam Weir) 7 years as Dr. Sweets on Bones, then transitioned into writing, writing Spiderman:Homecoming, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, Horrible Bosses 1 and 2
Martin Starr (Bill Haverchuck) Constantly works, over 100 IMDB credits, most notably Silicon Valley, and is also in every Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow movie.
Joe Flaherty (Lindsay and Sam's father) was already well known from SCTV.
Thomas F. Wilson (Coach Fredricks) was bad guy Biff Tannen in the Back To the Future movies.
Joanna Garcia Swisher (Vicki Appleby) 6 seasons on Reba, and a bunch of other stuff
Rashida Jones as Kim Kelly's companion in bullying in one of her first roles.
SHia Lebouef appears in one of his first roles, and there a lot of well known character actors.
TL;DR: In short, especially for a show that did not even go for a full season, I cannot think of a show that ever had a cast more loaded with past and future star power.
Yeah, Linda Cardellini didn't become a huge film star but she's had a very solid career on TV. She also had a small role in Brokeback Mountain and starred in last year's Oscar-winning Green Book (which ofc wasn't known at the time of this video). I certainly knew her from both ER and Mad Men before I got around to Freaks & Geeks.
The one scene(don't know if you can call it that) that always stuck with me is the expression on Bills face in the hospital when his mom says his dad was calling because he was so worried.
Martin Starr is a great actor.
It lasted for a fraction of a second, and maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the look he gives his mom when he says "really" was so subtle I felt like they both didn't believe her but that's how they got by.
Idk, when I saw that scene it really struck a chord, and you could tell so much about his character.
Why are you purely looking at things from a latter perspective - what age are you? Apparently there's little understanding that a show constantly facing cancellation/recording the finale mid season might not be able to fulfil the character arcs that they had planned. i.e. Seth Rogan should have had a bigger part.. Linda Cardellini is very well known. Your take is shallow, you're placing yourself at the point when you did the review when its a show from 1999, you can't apply the same 'logic', take it as it is. Pretty sexist to mention the male characters actors by name but can't take all of 5 seconds to learn 'this actress's name. Honestly, if you are continuing to do youtube reviews, spend a little extra time to read it and do a re-write. There is very little (if any) insight in this content
This show is amazing 18 fabulous episodes including my favorite tv show episode of all time the finale of this show.
I told a stoner i had met at a park that i grew up in michigan, he laughed and told me thats where freaks and geeks took place and reccomended it to me
Allan puts peanuts in Bills sandwich because hes an ass hole bully who assumed Bill was exaggerating his allergic reaction and Neil ended up in the costume because Sam was too upset over Cindy and her new boyfriend, also Neil believed he would have been hilarious as the mascot instead of Sam.
the pilot was the best almost cried it was so good....Linsey danced with that slow kid,,,,she was strong inside...sam ended up dancing with his fantasy girl....come sail away,,,,,,it felt like my high school daze days---the last episodes were sweet and the episode with the party seemed believable
i loved this show as well as "undeclared"
Is that similar?
Its a show Judd Apatow tried to do after Freaks and Geeks got cancelled. It had a Jason Siegle and some others of the F&G cast. I haven't seen any of it myself so I can't comment on if its any good or not.
Mike's Thoughts not nearly as good.
"What are we--MEN, or a bunch of pretty little ladies?" "Pretty little lady here."
Seth Rogen is on "Undeclared," and started doing double-duty by joining the writing staff as well!
6:25 i think that storyline is totally plausible, specially since the show takes place in the 80s.
Back then people didnt know as much about peanut allergies, so its plausible that the Bully thought the geel just made that up.
Nowadays most people seem aware of them and other rare conditions like that. But back in the day you didnt hear about things like that as much.
I grew up in mexico in the 90s and i had never heard about peanut allergies until i moved to the USA. Being allergic to something as inconspicuous as peanuts sounds very outlandish and funny, so if you had told me you were allergic to peanuts, i probably wouldn't believed you unless i witnessed it, or an adult backed up your story.
As far as why, the bully would give him peanuts? Well, "its just a prank bro"
The bully probably thought the peanuts were gonna make him sick but not kill him.
The worst outcome he could image would probably be that he would get a stomach ache or a rash or diarrhea, but bot actually die from it.
well this was seth's 1st roll ever and kim was not supposed to be a recurring character
Sorry but even with only 18 episodes it is one of the best tv shows of all time. Linda Cardellini was a star on a major hit ER is in the Avengers films you really need to research she of the things you say. very flawed review. YOu don't seem to understand peanut allergies weren't well known in 1980, it was rare for someone to have such a massive peanut allergy. again you don't get the time frame. you can't judge how people act in 1980 by how people act and think in the current time frame. hope your reviews have improved since this one.
Terrible Review. Always hated the overuse of the word cheesy. Nothing cheesy about one of the best shows of all time.
Yes, I have watched Freaks And Geeks, and yes, it is awesome!
Joe Flaherty did a lot for the show as Lindsay's father. (It's a shame he didn't have as big a career as most of the other SCTV alumni. For my money he was the funniest of all!)
This series is Highly respected and praised by almost everyone. It's perplexing watching this review and seeing you just not get it.
Yes, I've seen a million times and I love every one of them, every episode also.
post more on this account my guy grow it like company man. you are dope at this type of shit. youre voice is unique and calming and you are cool
Appreciate it raptor. The other channel is occupying all my time but I may have a chance to make more for this one.
Linda is truly an amazing underrated actress. Her supporting roles don’t do her justice but at the same time her characters are extremely believable. She is also extremely hot but you can see she doesn’t ride that train much. I like all her films.
My daily dose of mike
This is, in my opinion, the greatest show of all time
Mike,
I enjoy all of your Company Man vids, this is the first review vid I’ve ever watched because it’s the first time you’ve reviewed something I’ve seen.
1. Did you not go to school? Stating that you’re allergic to peanuts is essentially an outright invitation for some of the H.S. dumbasses to try to slip you some peanuts. You’re pretty much begging for it.
2. “Keep my attention,” is a good way to put it. I felt like the show was JUST good enough to move on to the next episode.
3. Kudos to Judd Apatow for recognizing so many...um...I have trouble saying, “Talents,” but certainly people who would go on to become stars.
4.) No mention of Thomas F. Wilson (Biff from Back to the Future) as Coach Fredricks? That made the series worth the price of admission for me. Even more so when he started dating Bill’s mother.
5. That’s all I’ve got. I thought Seth Rogen sucked then and think he sucks now. Zach & Miri is the only thing that he’s ever done, in my opinion, to come even within sniffing distance of funny.
Maybe I’m jaded. To me, it was a show with mostly decent acting, characters who fell just short of compelling, willing to seal the envelope but not push it....A much watered down version of, “My So-Called Life,” which is one of the best coming of age shows ever. It’s actually about meaningful stuff.
Philip Friesen I respect your disagreement and stipulate that our experiences merely differ. I’m also not suggesting that the majority, or even so many as one in a hundred kids would do that. I’m simply saying that I went to school with a non-zero number of kids who would do such a thing.
Appreciate it Piece but couldn't disagree with you more about the peanut thing.
Mike's Thoughts I guess my school just had more misanthropes than yours.
Perhaps Pierce and I went to hs in a different era than many of the others here. Although the peanut allergy phenomenon didn't really blow up until I was almost done school. Not saying peanut allergies didn't exist, they just weren't so widespread. Even now it's weird to me how kids can't bring the classic pb&j or Reese products to school. Given that most claimed allergies were a polite way of avoiding foods etc we didn't like while at other people's homes (back when I was young), most of my peers at the time wouldn't have taken the allergy claim as "This could kill him/her." More like "If they are allergic; this will make them blow up like a balloon lmfao this'll be hilarious!" If anything, it would have been intended as a prank. (Not that I would have done it; I have never been a fan of pranks or April Fools jokes.)
And like OP; this is also my first Mike's Review. I don't watch a lot of shows or movies. I'd be a horrible date for anyone, tbh.
Date: "Wanna go to the movies?"
Me: "Nah; they're all crap."
D: "What shows do you like?"
Me: "Hardly any."
D: "....I see...so what kinda music do you like?"
Me: "It's all garbage. My favourite bands turned out to be Satanic bastards I have since turned my back on."
D: "Soooo....what *do* you do for fun?"
Me: "Play Animal Crossing, watch UA-cam videos, and research conspiracy facts."
D: "....I see...well, this has been fun..."
Me: "No it hasn't. Don't bs me. We're both wondering wtf we're doing here and neither of us are going to contact the other again after this. Good luck with your next encounter, and don't trust the 5g network."
@@gypsywoman9140 we are made for eachother lol...

I remember it once, but otherwise it passed by me. Good review as always.
Freaks and Geeks is my favourite show.
thank goodness its nothing like Superbad. How many times are you supposed to laugh at the name McLovin?

Only mentioned Male actors! What about Linda,Busy,Natasha???
Lindsey Weir was one of the focal points of his video though
Maybe it's a "child"-star career trap thing, but I'd like to think Linda Cardellini just chooses low key roles, or is picky with them. She's great in everything she's in, big or small.
She was in ER when it was at it's most popular.
It's too bad the show was cancelled after only one season. It ended with such potential of great character archs and storylines. James Franco's character could have become sort of a protector of the geeks. Also he could have started liking the idea that he might actually be good at something in school when it came to being in the AV club (though forced into it) Also Bill becoming part of the jocks. But yeah the characters and situations seemed more real than most television shows. The comedy and writing was clever as well. The reason I think he put the peanuts in his sandwich was because he might have thought that Bill was trying to make the teacher feel sorry for him. Kids do mean stuff as well. But yeah that was super messed up. All and all a great show that sadly ended way too soon.
A friend and I once planned out potential story arcs.. A few were Bill becoming good at sports or maybe experimenting with drugs, Sam becoming way cooler than the other geeks, Lynsey hooking up with Daniel and of course Lynsey becoming a dead-head and reuniting with Nick. Kim getting pregnant, Daniel getting kicked out of school. Ken showing he is way smarter and richer than the other freaks, Bill getting big and beating the tar out of Allen, Neal meeting a new friend or getting a GF and going his own way a little bit.
This was a great show. Dam shame it only had one season
I actually loved this series. Was it perfect no but most shows aren't. The first season is usually a test run I think if the show would of ran longer all the wrinkles would of been ironed out. The best thing about this series besides the cast is how the awkward time of the early 80s was captured. The early 80s was still a lot like the 70s but the 80s would be a time of change. This show did a good job capturing the changing of the guard.
It’s a shame it only got one season. I feel like it would have grown into something
One of the best shows ever.
I was 9 when this was airing, I thought the Freaks were the COOLEST!
then your stupid
Do you think a revival that takes place during the G. W. Bush admiration will work?
I love every episode of this show
Tell me you misunderstood an entire show without telling me you misunderstood the entire show...
How did I misunderstand it camsasser?
Thank you for being critical of this overly nostalgic canceled show. Everyone nowadays talking about this show treats it like it’s perfect. It was good but it wasn’t so perfect. Even though it was pretty awesome.
No show is perfect, but this was a terrible review.
Love freaks and geeks takes me back to my youth
