Let me know if you enjoyed this type of video, and what you think about the Circular menace in the comments below.

I think they hit Circular because Konami despises budget players.
The most grievous offense is Mathmech has had only 2 new named cards since they were released in infinity chasers and took forever to actually see them, and now one of them is banned... meanwhile Tear and Kashtira have had multiple waves of multiple cards since there release
Circular was banned because of the Diabellstar + Toy Box combo
Circular is at 3 in MD & it isn’t even tiered so OCG/TCG definitely overkilled with the banlists
Errr yes, it is tiered. It's Tier 3 rn
You couldn't be more delusional. 3 in the tcg with no Maxx c would be insane. Get a clue
It’s still one of the most popular decks on ladder, even if it doesn’t do well in the tiny sample size from dkayed’s tournaments
Always hilarious how people use the MDM tier lists to define what is “tiered”. It’s just data pulled from a bunch of non-pro players who all queue into tournaments every week with a huge amount of recency bias towards the new cards.
@@ct1296
Where else do you get the tierings from lol???
MDM is the best data source for MD rn
THANK YOU for effectively summarising Circular's life cycle and the arguments of why this ban feels completely unwarranted (rant incoming)
As you've shown, Mathmech/Cyberse decks have been HARD countered by the top meta decks since Circular's release, and only had a couple months to breathe before Circular was banned. I was hoping to try the @Ignister Firewall builds in paper that have been seeing success in recent Masterduel Tournaments, but now that's just a pipedream :(
If Cyberse decks were in Tier 1 contention, then sure a ban might be warranted, but Cyberse was certainly not topping any YCSs. If the deck isn't even scratching tops, then genuinely: what harm is there in keeping the card unbanned? Now I can't even play my "bad" deck in peace (thanks Josh, very cool).
Is the card powerful? absolutely. does too much for one card? probably, but look at cards like Diabellstar, Wakaushi, White Sardine etc. and the game's power creep in general since POTE,
Circular wasn't a one-off, It's the new precedent.
i was happy to finally to get mathmech support to my old deck but all i was getting was hate for playing a rogue deck into our local tear and kash strats. i waas just winning
Nice content, subscribed.. Die hard code talker player here, I really liked circular as a one of because codec could search it and would let me end on a decent board if I couldn’t get to the iblee lock.. now I’m back to coping on cross out and dying to any hand trap 😢
Great video :D Mathmech was the deck that brought me back to the game (I stopped playing when Covid started) and I had a lot of fun with them, until bystials were released and every game boiled down to a Magna chained to a Sigma or Superfact XDDD
I guess that s true
Just like how there was like 0 reasons to hit sunavalon stuff considering the current top tier and future top tier.
Maybe? It's not the only reason I think Circular got the axe (starting at 6:27).
My anecdotal evidence points to some players thinking it probably didn't need to be addressed immediately, despite having Jess backpack the strategy in EU to multiple championship wins.
Aroma support coming out means that Sunavalon (an already strong deck btw, won EU twice) would become even better.
@@DCDsauce And yet still far inferior to any viable version of deck that include diabellestar.
I think they wanted to hit jasmine but seed is the only thing really abusing it so they did an indirect hit to her
@@DCDsaucei thought the general consensus in the plant community is that the aroma support in fact not good because sunavalon was just superior in addition to the downside of adding more garnets to the deck that already had too many of them. At least before the plant hits
More vids like this! This was great YGO content. Sub earned from me 🤙🏻
I believe that Circular was banned because Konami raised the bar for legacy support and couldn't release slop since it'd always be compared to Circular. Also, I'd recognize that Nikke OST anywhere...based.
"But of course, you all knew that"... ... yeeees?
I understood none of that and loved every second of it.
WOW that was a great Video! 😂
Thanks frien 👍
Nice video
Circular was only banned because it made some budget decks somewhat viable. Same reason Isolde was banned.
Also, my hot take is that Ariseheart wasn't the actual problem. Shangri-Ira was.
Circular being banned completely killed Mathmech. I feel like Circular at 1 was fine. Mathmech wasn't really doing much after they limited it. I understand that Circular kills Cyberse deckbuilding in a way, but I still feel like killing an entire archetype's viability to even be rogue just to encourage better deckbuilding for a monster type/mega archetype just doesn't really make sense, when Cyberse also isn't doing too much right now.
Maybe I'm just a salty Mathmech player. I got back into the game bc of the Dragonmaid cards, and accidentally pulled an entire Mathmech core trying to get Nurse and Kitchen. I popped tf off when CIrcular came out, only for the deck to get bodied by most decks in POTE/DABL format. It had a short time in the sun before getting slapped in the nuts by Konami, and now the deck is near unplayable. Sadge
Glad to see this in the replies because it means the moral of the story wasn't buried by too many layers of sarcasm.
Funny enough, Dragonmaids are what got me back into the game a couple of years ago as well. That is a deck one or two cards from busted. Also, Chamber needs a Dragon Form (likely a fusion).
As a fellow salty mathmech player, I agree.
Circular beeing banned while it was arriving in the mail whit the rest of the deck and forcing me tonplay floo and be hated at locals untill i decide to build.really glad they had to do a banlist whit 25 changes and cricular was caught in the crossfire
Circular was just a poorly designed card. It should've locked you into Mathmechs instead of turning into the pend-cyberse pile that the deck devolved into. We again saw that issue with Wakaushi. The only Circular like card that didn't devolve into a pile deck was Exosister Martha and that was because she locked you into Exos. Did Circular deserve the ban? Probably not. But I definitely don't miss getting update jammer into access code otk'd.
They banned circulr because they can't deal with me breaking the game playing mathmech-dinosaur post Kaitoptera.
Also it's all Josh's fault
Superfactorial shouldve been banned instead. Not because its op or anythung, i just hate factoring. Especially factoring ratiod
Lets be honest, circular is just too good. I was playing mathmech way before circular and I wish they hadnt made it so broken. I still hope we get another support but more balanced.
Circular as a card is too good, but you have to take it in context with what it actually enabled. It enabled a strategy that wasn't topping any YCS or major events. Compared to Tier 1 strategies that have nearly comparably broken one card starters that end on a stronger board, it's a bit unfair to hit circular but leave them untouched.
Mathmech was not a rogue deck when it got circular to 1..
I am so happy this toxic archetype finnaly come to endy but unfortunately come one even worse....
Baning of circular makes no sense. At least fenrir sits at 3 :). KONAMI LOGICS.
Well I can tell you this Konami banned Circular due to my own deck.
How does 1 card 13 interruptions sound to you?
Nah Circular was some jank crap.
This banlist didn’t need to bully Mathmechs, man… Mathmech was doing NOTHING in the TCG at 1 and wouldn’t suddenly make the deck tier 1 even at 3. At 0 you don’t get to play mathmech at all, the deck isn’t just 6 feet under, it’s got thrown down a mineshaft that then caved in.
Good retrospective, but you keep calling mathekch rogue befor darkwingblast, when ut was considered the 3rd best deck after spright and tear danger. After the tear hits and before the limitting if circular it was still fairly often topping regionals and considered a tier 2 meta contender. The only time it was truly rogue
I will say that i only play in md and was main DDD, but recently switched to shs to make master rank easier. The difference between playing against circular with DDD vs SHS is night and day. I literally always lost to trashmech with DDD, and now using SHS, well now they suck. But i hate trashmech enough still from ptsd to say suck it circular.
card should have never reached the printing press.
Finally, someone who gets it. Circular was clearly a design mistake, with seriously concerning implications for the future of any Cyberse deck to come after it. The card should never have been printed, but it was, so a ban is the best that can be done now. This seems pretty obvious to me but the majority of people just can't seem to think beyond "the deck wasn't meta so it shouldn't get hit" (including the current top comment on this very video, where you spell this out plainly). Baffling.
Explain why does the OCG hasn't totally banned Circular if it's so "toxic" for the metagame.
@@UziOmega same reason they havent banned maxx c guess, or are you cool with that card too?
@@Squidtoken Yeah, I think Maxx C is cool. It also hard counters Cyberse piles.
@@SquidtokenThey haven't banned Maxx because it helps balance the game. Not a good argument to use against circular. Likewise, the future cyberse support argument doesn't work because Konami routinely straight up abandons whole archetypes, so banning circular is still unnecessary.
This is just one of many cases where companies keep the OP stuff in rotation while its popular and hit the stuff that's good but accessible to funnel players into the OP.
A card being a design mistake doesn't necessitate a ban if that card isn't enabling jack all. It enabled what was a Tier 1.5 strategy at best, and hitting that one card with any single piece of interaction often won you the game anyway.
The fact that circular gets hit but current Tier 1+ strategies with numerous near broken cards walk free is clearly a monetary driven hit at budget players, nothing more.
