Thanks for your usual close listening -- you are a TRUE music enthusiast, Tre. Big respect for that. You're right - this is a hypnotic number. And yes they do have 2 singers, a man and a woman, but the lead is about 85% of the time taken by the guy. I was confused also when I first heard them because, as you mentioned, I'd never heard the tone of voice that came from these vocals. Turns out that's a guy but they do have a woman, who is the bass player, sing lead occasionally too - like on "Creation Lake". I like how the drummer has stood out to you often -- a lefty drummer, he is really into playing, from the live clips I've seen.
this is my golden age song. idrk why. i was never into the band. the song is a solid 7.5/10, but there’s just *something* about it. it came out when i was the same age as the kids in the music video, it’s the type of music i was into at the time, it’s got that upbeat-yet-nostalgic-melancholy feel to it. it reminds me of how a music venue or a movie theater feels after the show is over. it’s that feeling of driving by your childhood home and looking at that those three steps you would always jump down instead of walking them. you can almost see your friends on the electrical box.
This and Familees are the best songs. They are still good after all but these two are the best songs they have. Slower version of Lazy Eye on the EP sounds a little better.
