    You are spitting nothing but FACTS! Guys, I'm also in the process of applying to work abroad, whether China or Korea. I understand the desperation of not having an income and so on, but like he said, when you sell yourself short, that reflects on all of us as a nation and thus leads to these people exploiting us even more. Same thing happens in our country. You look at how much government internships offer someone with a masters degree and it's straight up insulting!!! But we do it because obviously desperate times. How many factrory workers do you know who work for Asians who work 7 days a week, with below minimum wage in SA???! Please bafethu, lets not let these people disrespect us even further. Because, they will treat you how you sold yourself when you get there. And also, can we take this job of teaching English seriously guys...do your part, improve yourself. So that you can deliver excellent service. These are people's kids and people's futures we are talking about. Treat it as you would any profession. ❤

      @serria john anything under 14k is too low. You did not leave South Africa for 8k which is the same amount you earn back home. Also teachers prefer t1,2 and sometimes 3 where they won’t be socially isolated. It harder for internationals to live in 3 and 4 tier cities. As much as it cheaper however cultural shocks are just beyond 8k in that isolation. When you are an international teacher you require a lot even insurance that most schools don’t provide hence whenever a teacher dies people must gather money to send the body home because it costs 300k. Again these 8k 10k 12k salaries are not offered to other English native teachers just South Africans. So we can’t ignore those things. South African must ask for nothing below atleast 14k in t2 n t3 t1 it will depend on housing and so on,,,

      @Maps05 Hi Maps, so as mentioned before (if your qualification DOESN'T specifically say BACHELOR of whatever, it won't be eligible. You need a BACHELOR'S degree to apply. Even though the NQF you may hold an NQF 7 qualification that may be equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, they still won't recognize it. Your PGCE needs to have been obtained with a bachelor’s degree. So you can try apply in other countries that are less particular about their educational certification.

In sip rent ranged from 2500-4000 1 n 2 bed apartments . I live with my gf we probably spend 2000¥ on food n that because we chow a lot. 1500 ¥ for food should do. Is it too much to ask if I ask for a minimum of 14k RMB after tax AND accommodation (fully furnished with basic appliances - I could compromise on the appliances though) plus a minimum of 1 meal for working days plus health insurance plus fully paid winter and summer holidays plus end of contract bonus plus flight reimbursement, plus paid medical check up when I get to China and of course paid Visa??
    Thing is I'm on an EXTREMELY TIGHT budget and I don't want to incurre any expenses in China, I just want to dress up and show up for work with a little hassle as possible. On the other hand I don't want to drop the ball for us South Africans, we've got to maintain our worth, I totally understand that but if I have to compromise on anything, it would be salary for me. I'd be willing to go a little lower on salary, to say about.. 12k if it's necessary because I absolutely need these benefits for my my survival in China especially as a first timer.
    So please advise if I would be asking for too much if I asked for this package and if it's okay, for which tier City?
    Eg if it would be too much for tier 2 but okay for tier 1 for example.
    I'm sorry for the essay but I really need your advice 👏🏽

    • @MfanaKaMshengu
      @MfanaKaMshengu  Рік тому +3

      If you work in kinder you will have your meal compulsory, health insurance is a must for the school to provide for you in terms of Chinese expat regulations.
      14k is the minimum and ok for t2 and t3 cities. In t1 cities I doubt they will even offer you such unless they robbing you.
      Things to negotiate is full pay during holidays and your flight reimbursement. Most apartments com furnished anyways. Just look for a place where you walk to work. Otherwise 14k after tax is a good starter but always negotiate for 18k don’t just go to 14. If they ask how much you want just say 18-20

      To prepare docs it costs between 2000-4000 with agents most of them. Cheaper if you in jhb and can pick up and collect yourself. First time I went to China I had a flight ticket I had bought for R8000 n R20-25000. I took a loan from the school to pay rent as my rent was 2500¥x4.
      25k was enough I just naught bedding a pot and food and I was good to go.
      I returned again now in January after staying in mzansi fr about 8 months. I’d say I used a lot this time as I came back with my gf. You know woman and spending,,,, we probably clocked 100k. But as a single person. 3000¥ is enough for you on t2 n 3 cities. For food basics for the first month. With rent it will depend on a school which city it in n how much rent is there. Here in Suzhou just outside the city rent can be from ¥2000-3000 a 1 bed apartment n 3600¥ 2 bed. So you times that by 4 and it will give you how my ch you need.
      Schools offer free food mostly lunch n also some have free apartments so you can literally change R10000 and arrive with 4000¥ n all you need is food. So it depends on a lot of things but the location of your school would let me advise better

    30k rmb is the base.

      Only if you come from the west or look like them. Even so they still don’t get that as a base in their first contract most of them.

      Yes you can but you can’t study while working, that just how this sides gov works. What other teachers do is study with various international institutions online while working here. If you asking purely for studying than yes you can

      @@MfanaKaMshengu Thank you for being so informative. I think I'd rather do my masters here at home then fly over when I am done with everything. My only concern is that the salary that is earned as of now might actually decrease as more and more teachers are being employed that side, which means of course China won't be desperate anymore.

    Hi, I am sorry for coming back again. Is 8000 rmb a good salary in Changchun, Jilin province for a first time teacher coming from outside China? If it is not, what is the minimum the teacher should ask for? I can’t really find information about this online which is why I have to bother you.
    Thank you in advance

    • @MfanaKaMshengu
      @MfanaKaMshengu  Рік тому

      Changchun is a t2 city. You can live comfortably with 6k rmb. However that salary is way too low for t2 so they are not giving you justice on that contract. I do encourage people to accept atleast 14k after tax in any city of t2 and t3. Plus do they give you housing allowance and how much? T2 accommodation ranges from 2000-4000 depending on size mostly. I would never advice anyone to sign for anything below 14k .
