- I abused my brand new Stark Varg electric dirtbike on the dyno at XPR Motorsports to show the world how much power this bike puts to the ground. The results were awesome and surprising!

I need a Supermoto Varg. I can't even begin to imagine how fun these would be on-road.
Agreed
Well my Alta was a wheelie monster on the road, this will probably do backlfips on pavement at the flick of the wrist haha.
@@bwhaskell lol Agreed! How long before your delivery date did they send the shipping info email?
It was like 3 to 4 weeks, but me being their first customer that was a somewhat of a special case
@@bwhaskell special in that they don’t do it for everyone? Or that was earlier than usual? My delivery date shows as September 30th on their website, but I haven’t heard anything yet.
I used to despise the idea of electric dirtbikes. But it’s like farting around your new girlfriend. You try as long as you can to hold off. But eventually it gonna happen
Why do you dismiss something you don't understand? Sounds like ignorance mixed in with some pride. There's actually very few of people that think like this. I've been building and riding electric for many years, and I rarely ever run into people who think like this. Typically the ones that think like that don't even know how to work on their own gas bike lol
When we used to use horse and buggies, there was people like you that despise the fact of the combustion engine, nothing new under the sun !
@@pilotrt Sounds like a classy broad.
When you can hear when the wheel brakes traction you have more granular control which can translate to greater awareness, better reaction and more forward momentum 👍

Great footage, the world 🌎 just can't get enough Stark Varg video's 💯👊🤠🤟🇺🇲🙏🇬🇧
The more I learn about the Varg the more im impressed. Might have to get one 🤟
Once i see the real world run times/range in the woods, i'll consider replacing my KTM. It needs to be able to make it through a hare scramble.
@@OtisFlint Enduro riding will definitely be a lot easier on the battery, so I would assume it will last quite long on enduro rides.

You do realize that everyone will look at you as a loser after this right? It's like coming out of the closet...don't get one
Getting an electric bike like this and riding it seriously is emasculate

10/10 butthurt👍
Has absolutely nothing to do with getting rid of generators that the majority already have a large facilities anyway.
😂
Fit and finish on that design is really exceptional. Nice tight tolerances from what we can see in the vid. Agree with everyone who wants to toss a pair of 17" SM wheels on one of these.
You can see the defeat in Chad's eyes lol. All that torque from zero.
The smile was priceless. Chad was seriously impressed.

@@Corteumit’s the same thing EV makers has been saying
Bottom line is that much torque at the wheel is useless so it doesn’t matter if it’s true or not
Well done Bryan, awesome info !
Loved it!!! Cant wait to put my new bike on the dyno. I'm hoping for 60bhp. I have a 100 volt system.
HAHAHA!!!!!!!!60hp you sure about that hmmm! hmmm! 60hp= 44 760 watts/hrs and you have battery maybe 8000watts / 44 760 watts/hrs = 0.17873 in the most best conditions is possible, like disconnect the motor shaft to the rest of the bike and if you really have 60hp/hrs or 44 760 watts the autonomy it's arround 10'min. very max but reconnect the shaft and your autonomy drop down to maybe 2- 3 min. hahaha. OK your motor is probably 5000 watts / 746 watts/hrs = 6.7 HP and that's is the real power of this Bike. the torque is just awesome in electric motor. HAVE FUN! Oh MATH it's ; OHMs LAW 5 min to learn😉🙂
Nice work guys.

Very impressionning Team ! Wow
Boy oh boy. What a great video. Very impressed with XPR and their shop versatility. Thanks for sharing the shop and of course your journey with the S.V.
It actually looked like the 60hp setting was quite a bit higher than the YZ450 through most of the range, only getting close at one spot, that is a lot more useable power.
Except that the YZ has more gears than the one shown.
@@banaana1234 Yes, that will basically push the curve to the left, so at lower speeds it exceeds the Varg slightly. Doesn't matter really tho, because you're geometry limited there anyway, meaning the bike is going to wheelie.
That curve makes the 60hp motor option look pretty good
None of y'all can ride a 450 to it's limits. Even factory riders can't. And y'all want 20 more hp? 😂
nope not for me, I ordered the 60hp version@@NeoMK
Keep it up man, great shit
That's very good information very useful.
The implications of this technology are pretty staggering. I could set this bike up at 10 hp and teach brand new riders how to ride. Yeah try doing that on a Honda CRF 450 without catching a murder charge.
All the way up to having a bike that would rival what the pros have.
Well played gentlemen well played👍🏼
@@jaysmokey
100% agree that new rider should not be on 450s but this bike allows you to detune it down to 10 hp.
Basically XR100 type horsepower with great suspension and handling.
It’s brilliant 👍🏼
wait till honda releases theres, then the game begins.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of electric motorcycles. But teaching a beginner on this bike is a mistake IMHO. Beginners need to learn to shift, use the clutch and use a foot brake (yes, I know the Varg can be had with a foot brake). If someone learns to ride on a Varg they won't know how to ride the VAST majority of motorcycles.
This bike is so nice and its only version 1 imagine in 20 years
Now you need to full send 🙌
I think we probably should use the uncorrected horsepower numbers. The SAE correction for temperature, atmospheric pressure, and humidity should not apply to electric. The 79 HP number looks a lot better.
Please explain to us not in the know what that means?
@ManMeatMusket Thank you! So in the video you could see that they had corrected values for the Varg?
@ManMeatMusket Ah, thanks a bunch!
Agreed. Although the bike rips compared to a modern 450, if they advertised 80hp and you paid for 80hp, you want to see 80hp all day long.
Thanks for explaining that. I was wondering how the values were “corrected.” I thought maybe it was some kind of compensation for having only one gear.
Yup! I put my order in! Cheers! And O yeah I subscribed!
E bikes have many advantages: no more green sticker red sticker nonsense, no more fussing with your carb at altitude, awesome hole shots, less likely to have to sheriff called when you are riding in certain places, and so on.
Stock 450SXF does 58hp on my dyno. Our built KTMs do 70+hp.. we’ll get a video soon out running a Varg. Stay tuned
Now if only the battery tech could be better... And that shop looks nice!
I still like the sound of the engine, and he also has the exhaust sound.
Absolutely awesome ❤️ 👌
Whoa look that speed very fast 💨!!! Than all kinds Japan dirt bike !. Insane!!🤯🤯
Do you think this bike will work well for hard enduro!
I ordered an 18” rear wheel and 60 hp.
Stark Varg means "Strong wolf" in Swedish. It looks fenomenal. I think I want one, but have never ridden a dirt bike before. But it would complement my KTM duke 890r for common roads.
I was totally against electric bikes, then I got to ride a Stark varg. That's all I want now. Faster lap times on the first lap with less fatigue.
Sounds awesome. So responsive.
Actually really impressive. Only cons would probably be durability over a number of years on parts, battery life and weight. Hopefully in the years to come they keep progressing the models. Stark has a real chance to be competitive.
But then when you take into account the maintenance, top end rebuilds etc, that would be needed on a comparable bike with a traditional combustion engine.

Wow. 80hp at the engine and 67 at the wheel. Meaning, about 16% losses. Still room for improvement in efficiency. But what an aweosme bike straight out the box. Love to get onee.
Probably a shitton of losses in the greatbox, considering the small size and the high engine torque its probably compromised.
Also, you have to kill that external fan before you take those temperature readings.
To be a little more honest and accurate with it.
What is your favorite Hp and engine braking for now? Best set up?
Cant wait until the Japanese electric bikes are available , especially the Honda version . If the Japanese bikes make similar power and torque but are 4 ~ 6 kg lighter I'm getting one.
Soon the women and children of Africa won't be digging up lithium for pennies then what's going to happen?
Have you looked into getting another tubolito tube?

QUestion: if you liked the rear hand brake, why did you still get the foot pedal? thanks. love the VARG!!!!
I'm just glad to see smart young guys with the proper tools to actually make things better.
I think this is a very cool bike, and can be a game changer, for many where noise is a concern especially in the north east. I do have a few questions, Did you pay retail for this bike or did Varg enter into an agreement with you? Did they loan you the bike? Discount the bike? Give you the bike? Lease or rent you the bike? How much is a spare battery for this bike? what is parts availability on this bike?
There will still be noise and fuel burned by all the generators youll have to run to keep these things charged up between motos.
I paid retail! It's my own bike.
Any idea what the wait time currently is to buy one? I’m sure they gotta have a back log.
I say the same things about the quality and impressiveness of the first gen product and the comments everywhere I go are people screaming "shill" to anyone who isn't crapping on this thing, it's so weird and annoying. It makes me think electric adoption in supercross is going to be more resistant than I expected, and is going to hold things up. Imagine if every manufacturer had hot swap batteries, every track had like dozens of pre-charged packs for different makers, solar panels and batteries on site so track owners can provide power, etc. It feels like the ICE people really don't want this thing to be good, and that's confusing to this open minded 46 year old.
What size sprockets are used on the varg? It's getting up to 95mph in stage 4.
When are the lights and turn signal packages coming???
This is my favorite electric dirt bike.
let me rephrase that.
This is my favorite dirt bike!
Can you please explain to us what the CWhlPw stands for?
From? And why wasn't the test in HP instead. Because I only see the bike hitting 68 on the chart in the 80hp setting and the 60 hp setting hit about 64 on the chart.
So the question is. Is it worth the extra money for the 80 hp with minimal hp gain of only 4 hp. It never even showed and 80 on the chart scale. Is that because it doesn't produce an actual 80 hp? But in the 60 hp setting it achieved the 60 mark?
Please advise
I have never heard back from Brian Haskell on this concern of mine and the original question at hand based on the Dyno test.
It's typical dyno units.
Calculated wheel power is what it stands for.
Also, the dyno needs to be setup for electric motors as they behave differently from ICEs.
So add all losses from the motor to the 67-68 whp and you end up in the ballpark of 80bhp.
One has to understand that the integral of the power curve, area under the power curve, is the the amount of energy released. That's why electric cars are so much faster with less topp effect!
In this case the Stark releases more or less the double amount of energy compared to the 450, over the power band...huge difference...✌
Bad azz bike! 96-97mph is great top speed also
Love it!!! Personal preference: I would love to get more of your thoughts and commentary in your videos.
Veary impressed how uniform the power curves are at different hp settings 👍
It's very impressive power imagine the advantage at elevation
I will address the eelphant in the room (sorry) after only 15 o so pulls it used over 20% the battery. How many pulls do you do in a track as Unadilla or Hangtown? Not to talk about an average enduro ride. The issue here is not power nor weight (this thing is heavy) it is range, we need some real range test for both MX and Trail riding before I cast my veredict. ;)
Electric Cycle Rider channel did one , well, multiple, from hard trail riding to motocross qualifying. It's not terrible, but it's literally hours less than what Stark claim it'll do.
I'm a gas guy, give me a 2-stroke any day over anything else, and I both don't care for 99.9% of electric vehicles, nor do I want anyone forced into buying one or the government forcing me or any manufacturer to build them....but I'd definitely take this bike, and I'd definitely take a Rivian R1T to get it where it needs to go, and I'd definitely take a Porsche Taycan GTS SportsTurismo for my daily....but only because I don't drive more than 200 miles in a shot absolutely ever, and I'd be charging at home....but I definitely don't want to use any of those to drive out of state, and I definitely wouldn't want to "actually" go for AT LEAST a full days trail ride on the VARG(5+hrs, hundred+ miles), it just won't make it without turning back or knowing exactly where you could leave the trail to recharge for that hour+. I could see shorter trail rides and motocross ECT where you either have access to electricity, or a generator in the back of your truck to charge the damn thing..... it's still gorgeous, extremely well engineered (except that one little issue where they're sending out complete new powertrains lol, but at least free and promptly for those bikes already sold), and they're brutally fast.... I mean, this channel doesn't show how ridiculously fast this thing really is, only channel I've seen show how brutal this thing is in 60hp-80hp mode, is the one I mentioned above.... I'd check it out where he first gets his and is trail riding, you won't be upset I can tell you that 😅
@bwhaskell we're hungry for more dude! Any single track rides in the works? That's really all I'm after at this point...thanks in advance!
Did he just grab that rear brake lever with the wheel off haha?
impressive
I can see the advantage on motocross but I race harescrambles for over 2 hours a run. This does include going riding for the all day in the trails.
Does the big screen on the handlebar clamp show a pic of a soft pad when your face hits it?
lol
So when will we see this bike actually race?
Finally we get the top speed, thank you!!
I want to know more about the battery and controller
my question is at 40 and 50hp whats the battery time can i get 3 hrs from it because that is more than enough for the vast majority of people lol
Merci .
In a typical bro voice, "But it doesn't sound like a dirt bike, dude!"
Something to keep in mind is that the difference to the YZ450 that is showed at 9:47 not real life relevant.
Due to the gears on the YZ450 you have to take the top power zone of the YZ450 and replicate it several times to the left, once for each gear. With the Varg only having one gear the curve you see, is what you get.
The crazy thing is that even if you consider this, the Varg in the 60Hp setting is still higher throughout the higher speed range, where the power is actually relevant.
I see what you're saying. In theory perfect clutch work could result in roughly flat HP for the yz. Honestly the vargs curve is so massive you'd think they'd gear it down a little.
That Fed Ex driver comes to my job lol
Super info! Would love to see comparos to different gas bikes, like 2 strokes from 125 to 300 and 4 strokes downwards from 450! Would it be possible to post afterwards?
Ride safe on your supersport moto!
Will you post more content about your Stark Varg?
I noticed the Navy BDU shirt hanging in a frame in the background... Very Interesting.
On the 70 hp setting the knives feed was showing a peak of 75 hp no? But the 80 hp setting maxed out at 67?
I had the same thought. I think hp to the rear wheel on all bikes is a smaller number vs hp from a motor bolted to a stand straight off the countershaft.
Excellent test. The proof is in the pudding.
I want 125cc size motor - no shifting makes it a really good size for many people
Good suspension is a must
You should try the Stark Varg electric dirtbike it got 80hp 😅
What i think a lot of people dont realize us you can literally make that hp curve (and throttle curve) look like anything you want with an electric bike. You could make the hp curve perfectly flat, or super steep or amything in between with tuning.
I want one in supermotard guise....rear tyres, chains & sprockets are going to get devoured by all this torque, LOL
Cool to see and 99% of us don’t need all that power. So it’s awesome I can go to a 45 or 50 hp setting and ride around.
I would so love to have a belt-drive-converted street legal varg
I thought deliveries of this bike started over a month ago, are you still the only person with the bike? I don't see any other UA-cam channels with this bike yet...
Wait, what? Can you please publish a chart showing the power setting and the corresponding horsepower/torque achieved, in just plain numbers. I have to admit, I'm a little confused. It seems that the horsepower numbers were less than the power settings (if the numbers along the left side of the graph were the horsepower numbers)? During the runs, you had a little window, in the upper right hand corner, showing some kind of percentage, time, MPH and a curved meter that was too small for me to read. Is that correct? Thanks for the videos.
PS: In any case, it kicks ass against the Yamaha 450, which is no slouch. 👍
I think you’re referring to 80hp vs 63hp or whatever the peak showed on the graph. It’s rwhp vs at the motors output. Same as in any other vehicle, the wheel hp is going to less than crank hp.
@@zacreeves7377 Correct, I'm not sure if they are talking about rear wheel horsepower or at the crank horsepower? I guess I was wondering if you set the app for x horsepower, does that equal what is seen on the dyno? Which would be rear wheel horsepower???
How many runs do you get before you see a performance decrease? A Gas 450 will produce relatively the same performance until it runs out of gas, but an electric bike will likely start to drop the power as the battery decreases. Most bikes like Surons will go into low power mode when they get to less than 40% battery power left.
This battery chemistry will still provide full "power" until it hits its low voltage cutoff.
@@fen2453 That's a great theory, but I would rather hear it from someone actually testing it.
@@tacticooldennisand even at low battery voltage percentage, it will still out power a gas 450 .
I want one!
put temp gun on rear tire during runs - increase = tire slip ?
Love the videos. Should invest in a bluetooth mic so we can hear more clearly what the other guys are saying. Imho
i will never get behind electric cars, but dirtbikes, that i would like to see more on the track.
That is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2023 Kawasaki 450 was gone for sale for about seven grand. I don’t know what those motor 23:37 mods cost. But then you’ll never reach the weight limit that the Vargas at the Vargas very light and for these old guys racing hare scrambles to have a lightweight bike like that would be just so amazing.
I know thay ant really putting out 80hp at the rear tyre but thay are amazing 90+mph and tq for right away is very good hopefully they will ad a battery upgrade and controller mod for more power in the future 😂
I don’t care what motor it has 80hp ladies and gentleman this this is a fuckin rocket. A built crf450 has 60-65 hp. Full power from 1 rpm to max
Seems the STARK BMS could use some tuning / refinement for the UI...
Nuts.
This thing could be a top speed monster with some different gearing it already has more than you need on the bottom
You need to shut the SAE corrections off for dyno testing an electric.
I'll bet Stark are loving the lack of calculated torque being shown... Nothing funnier than people realising that the quoted torque is the maximum potential from the motor post reduction gearbox, and the controller isn't even delivering 10% of that most of the time 😆
Lets do a comparison. We ride the Varg and my Husky 510 for 80kms on rough trails and then dyno test both right after. Lets see which one dyno's more power.
When do we get a Motard Stark?
Wondering if something has gone wrong. Great regular interesting videos for some months since the bike arrived, then nothing for 3 weeks now. Hopefully have not had a big crash or anything? Also does anyone know how many other Stark customers have received their bike?
Nothing wrong. I was going through a move. Going riding tomorrow in my new state. Stay tuned. More content coming
that is really exciting, at least there is real data that support the claims.
Now the question on everybody' mind is longevity and MUD riding capability.
Clearly there is something big here.
Bikes looks good, is fast, really fast, much more power than the competitors,
NOW
reliability test, long sessions, a season of riding with objective data and costs, MUD riding.
The electric mountain bikes really do not like mud or wet riding...not sure about the Stark though, but for sure our experience on the Suron is death induced by mud riding....let see
But that bike has clearly some real potential...
No video in 3 weeks? Either silenced by Stark, or the bike broke.
