Wow. Since 1985, I've lived in the West Valley (Tarzana's Melody Acres, Woodland Hills on Topanga, Now near Pierce College) and you've taught me so much... and I am always curious about our local history. Thank you. These videos are wonderful. P.S. A month ago I learned about Twin Lakes and found Mayan Drive. But I had no idea about the old roads you walked. Crazy all the history I'm still learning about.
I almost bought a house up at Twin Lakes, I was in escrow and a fire hit the area and destroyed the house I was very very worried BC I didnt know how it would work with ownership. I was lucky I was able to back out of escrow. They were cabins before any houses.
So that's why they call it Twin Lakes, lived in that mobile home park in late 1990's. On a side not, Mayan Rd. connected to old Santa Susana Pass road and basically only way to Simi in late 1960's and on April 1st (fools day) someone put up a bunch of orange cones forcing traffic up Mayan RD. to a dead end, I was a kid passenger but remember this day well.
20:21 - There is a horsetrail going over an old dam to your left. That is where one of the lakes was that you showed in one of the old photos.

Very interesting I find that area fascinating for some reason! Thanks for the post !!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. You should visit the Chatsworth Historical Society. They have a free open house the first Sunday of each month.

Thanks, this one was especially fun to make.
Rudolph Valentino moved up there on WoHeLo trail in 1926, beautiful views of the valley.

Those roads are paved now, i do Amazon delivery there, super neat history lol
Yes, the roads are paved above the 118. But the old road leading up to Twin Lakes from Santa Susanna Pass was completely abandoned decades ago.
