    All the things you listed are exactly why I do my own loc maintenance. I actually never found a loctician to install my locs. My good friend who used to do my faux loc installed my braid locs. I knew from day 1 I was going to self-maintain. I didn't want to have to deal with other people's schedules, the cost monetarily, traveling to someone for my reties, or worry about my appointments being cancelled. I can honestly say I don't mind "paying" with the time it takes me to do my reties. It saves me money, peace of mind, and gives me a whole 'nother level of hair freedom. 🙌🏽

      Yes I definitely feel you it is so worth it in my opinion to have the skill of being able to maintain locs yourself rather than being fully dependent on someone else. I see nothing wrong with having a Loctician but the thought of me not knowing how to maintain my hair and not being able to get my maintenance done terrified me. I also have been doing my own hair since I was 12 so I understand it may be different for others. You are right the freedom comes from you having the knowledge and skill. You are really blessed to have that! 💜

      @@SocialSymone the thought of having to solely depend on someone else for my loc maintenance terrified me as well & made me anxious. I was entering a new journey with my hair and I wanted to be prepared & self-reliant. Good ol' UA-cam University came to the rescue and the sheer determination for me to be able to maintain my own locs is what pushed me to step outside my comfort zone. I have no regrets & I feel like I have developed a personal relationship with each of my locs. 🙌🏽❤️

    I found a loctician to start my micro locs for under $500. I had to drive almost 1.5 hours to get to her but it’s worth it. I start mine in a few days.

    My locs are two years old. In the beginning it was a definite struggle. My loctician did not have time management at all. I did my own reties…my budget said yes but my shoulders said no ma’am. Then I was financially able to pay my current loctician every 6-8 weeks. She’s always booked and busy.

    • @SocialSymone
      @SocialSymone  10 місяців тому +2

      I feel you on your shoulders said no 😆 I have felt this everytime! I looked at one time in my area to see if I could find anyone in to me the prices were very high and not the best quality in my opinion. I'm glad you were able find someone who could do your reties for you. That is really a blessing! 💜

    Such a great truthful video. I waited 10years to be ready. I didn’t have the time raising children to sit or pay for micro locs. I’m now ready and I will pay for a class to learn how to retie myself. Don’t wanna be at anyone mercy. My journey begins in 4 days. Keep me in prayer 😂

      I have a lot of hair. I think the price is fair. I love my loctician and i love going into the salon. Everyone is always so kind and encouraging. I want to learn how to do my own reties, but I have carpel tunnel. Maybe one day I’ll be able to do my own hair.

      If I found one with all of what you have at yours Id give it a try! There have been a few times I would have paid the price because life was lifing 😅. I am happy to hear that you have a positive experience! I don't think yhe price is bad either. It take me houuurrrssss doing it myself and it seems like more like a pamper season having someone else do it. 💜

    I just started my journey in August and I have to say I've been loving it. I was a natural hair lover before but had a mishap at a salon that jacked my hair all the way up. So it was either shave my head and start over or start locs. I dyed my hair and installed my starter twists and have been in love ever since! I found your videos on my UA-cam University journey haha

    I'm 2.5 years into approx 93-95 traditional locs. Almost shouder length. I wash 1x per week a retwisting takes me about about 35-40 minutes which is less than the movie I'm streaming while doing it. I dont do updo styles. I don't like them. I started myself knowing i would mostly do side sweeps. I would never ever commit to a hairdo that made me dependent on a loctician. Too many money hungry scammers. AND IM NOT TALKING ABOUT INFLATION. im a graduate of UA-cam. But even with that there are many many clueless 'instructors' here too. You will learn. Thanks for the video for the newbies.

    DIY or Pay someone ...IT IS WORTH IT either way because hair is BEAUTIFUL!!❤ I've had Sisterlocks for 2.5 years and LOVE❤❤❤❤ IT I prefer to pay for my Reties. I live in area where I can find a loctician fairly easy however if anyone who is thinking about interlocks PLEASE count the costs BEFORE committing. I am also going to learn how to do my own

      I can see how. Trying to figure the last rotation can be tricky for alot of us. I personally dont see any holes in my locs yet but I think I may have atvleast one somewhere. I notice people who do a 2 point rotation saying they have holes more often than people who do other types.

Im not sure if my locs are the reason or what but I feel blessed. I talk and show my bald spot in some of my loc journey videos here and there. I hope this helps and I am wishing you growth. 💜

    Is interlocking hard?

    • @SocialSymone
      @SocialSymone  8 місяців тому

      I don't think interlocking itself is hard I think that it may be a test of patience because interlocking your own hair requires a lot of time and effort. Interlocking was never a challenge for me personally. There are many videos on my channel and even on UA-cam of people showing how to interlock their own locs and the different ways that you can do it. Many people who don't interlock don't Solely because they don't have the patience and that's okay. 💜 Luckily there are Loctitians out there for those people. And they can fix other issues with Their customers locs as well.
