Even though the Tomcat cost more to operate than the Super Hornet, I wish they'd kept it in service and continued improving it like the Air Force did with the F-15 Silent Eagle.
I doubt the USAF is going to buy the Silent Eagle. Most of the F-15E variants produced in the last 15 years have been made solely for export. USAF bought their last F-15Es in the late 90s/early 2000s.
The Navy fought tooth and nail to keep the F-14. They went to the senate and pleaded with the senate not to take away the F-14, but Dick Cheney was persistent in retiring the F-14s. With the end of cold war, Dick Cheney said the Navy no longer needed an expensive all-out air superiority fighter and just a multi-role fighter should suffice. As Admiral Dale "Snort" Snodgrass put it, other than cheaper maintenance and ease of flying, there is nothing an F-18 can do better than an F-14.
I LOVE THE F-14, THE BEST OF THE BEST

F-18 Super hornet sucks, i prefer the standard Hornet, but but void bad critics, i took the super hornet as Wingman lie in Ace Combat 5
