Thank you sooooo much for taking the time to make such informative video. I've been dancing on the idea of becoming an independent contractor and had fear going through the process of filing for it on my own. Your video gave me EXACTLY what I needed... a mirror of success in you 👸. Thank you 🙏💜 may your life be showered with abundance, happiness and continuous growth.
I'm a new subscriber and I'm already a fan. I love your videos. The clarity, the transparency and all the info is great. U got me all excited about finishing school and becoming a Cota. Keep it up.
Thank you for this awesome video! I am studying for the NBCOT COTA exam, which I intend to take in February and I have seriously considered starting out as an Independent contractor as I enjoy schedule flexibility and higher pay for sure! Thank you for making the information simple to understand and straight forward. happy holidays.
Love how detailed and to the point this video is! I just received my license in OT, and many of the jobs in my area are advertised for contractors. Is this something you would recommend for a new grad? Thanks in advance :)
Thanks you for reigniting my desire to continue with my OTA program. I had worked for myself and was my own boss for almost ten years. I became disheartened after doing my observation at the hospital; I was thinking to myself “how in the world am I going to be able deal with working under a boss and having him or her telling me what to do?” Haha. So thank you for sharing.
None of the OT’s I’ve worked with have ever been overbearing or on top of me. Most of the time their busy treating their own caseload or doing desk work. As a COTA you are very independent and do your own thing. You got this and good luck in your program ☺️
Love thisssss. Love all your videos. Can we get an update video on how you’re feeling after being an IC for over a year? Are your views the same, different?
Can you make a video or address how to find jobs as an independent contractor as an ota? I'm in school now and just trying to prepare for my future. There are not many videos about this topic in our career field.❤️
I am considering starting an S-corp as you said but I do not have an account yet. Do you think its fine to start a S-corp before I meet with a CPA? I am a new york based OT looking at 1099 contracts for the upcoming school year. Could you recommend your CPA? Thanks for making this video!
Thank you! And pretty much when you find a facility you want to work at they all have an understanding of what being an independent contractor is so they will already have a document for you to sign, all you really have to do is negotiate your price and provide the necessary paperwork on your end (malpractice insurance and proof of corporation) hope this helps!
Hi! Thank you so much for this video. It was so informative and transparent. I actually wanted to know if you became an independent contractor right out of school or if you worked as an employee first then became an independent contractor. Also, which route do you think would be the best way to go? Thanks again! Love your videos. ❤️
Thank you so much! And I became an I.C right away. I did the process in October and started working as an I.C that November and I def would pick the I.C way, you’re not as tied down to any job, it provides more freedom and the pay is better ☺️
@@SophiaBrooke314 As someone who has been a COTA for 9 years now, I am applying jobs in MD as an IC. Given your knowledge and other Ic COTAs you might know, what wage bracket would you recommend I request for hourly please? want to make sure I get paid accordingly. Thank you in advance.
Hello, this was so informative so helpful, thank you. You may or may not know but I was wondering if it’s possible to become an independent contractor with a limited permit?
Hi, Sophia. When you say that you get paid more as an independent contractor rather than working for a company, do you mean because you can charge more or because you work more hours?

Hi, Sophia. When you say that you get paid more as an independent contractor rather than working for a company, do you mean because you can charge more or because you work more hours?
Because you don’t get any benefits as an I.C you are able to get a higher hourly rate. Thank you for watching 😌

Great content Sophia. So when you apply to jobs which jobs would hire you as an independent contractor?
Any job will hire you as an independent contractor you just have to ask!
@@SophiaBrooke314 thank you! The pay would be much more then working for an employer
What is the salary range for IC COTA's opposed to working for a an employer? Also do you get paid bi-weekly or weekly.
Hi. Do you deal with insurance? Or only private pay?
Insurance pays us for every visit we make.
Who hires you? How do you market yourself?
