- Restoration of the Sunbeam 1000hp was the topic of our January 2024 Transport Torque evening at our Collections Centre lecture theatre. A near full-house enthralled by a fascinating story and British engineering excellence. Richard Noble OBE, holder of the land speed record between 1983 and 1997 and the project director of ThrustSSC, the vehicle which holds the current land speed record, joined us for our Transport Torque. Hear also from the Museum’s Doug Hill and Ian Stanfield about the efforts to restore the impressive car, as well as Dr Jon Murden our Chief Executive and Ken Robinson was the manager at Beaulieu in the 1970s and 1980s.

Very informative.
A great watch!
Gonna suggest you contact the "Halifax Historical Society" in Daytona. Ask for access to the Lawson Digget(?) Photo archive. My mother worked with him at a local cabinet shop. As a child, I was given a chance to thumb through his albums. At the time, I was facinated by airplanes. He had amazing photos of world renowned racing planes that raced over a course laid out over the Intercoastal waterway(Halifax River). I feel confident he probably chased the LSR cars as well.
Very interesting a pity the the sounds so poor.
WELCOME Sunbeam to Sunshine.
