- We have some of the world's greatest pre-war cars at Goodwood, and it's such a pleasure to see them alive and breathing and putting on a show for the eager crowds. At this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, we were honoured to have the fastest car of 1925, the beautiful Sunbeam Tiger.
With a 4.0-litre V12 supercharged to produce 306PS, the Sunbeam Tiger set the 1925 land speed record of an incredible 145mph.
We sat down with Patrick Blakeney-Edwards, who drove the car up the #FOS Hill to talk through the car's history and what it's like to drive.

You should do content like this on many more cars. This was fantastic
'Born Too Late' - St. Vitus (song)
Definitely more of the pre-war cars please, this was excellent.
Superb! Please do more content on the really historically significant cars. I remember the likes of Doug Nye doing extended pieces on these cars in the late nineties with Alain De Cadenet, very sadly missed. In recent times the focus seems to have gone to more modern machinery which is great, but let's not forget the history of Motorsport and the Mavericks involved in its development.
More than modern motorsport, this has become a catwalk for electric cars. Because hillclimbing is the one thing they do well.
A friend of my late dad - John Merryfield - ran the sister car -""Tigress" - for a while in the early 1990s, so I was privileged to be able to attend three events with it;; at Shelsley, Donington and Silverstone. Awesome experiences all! If you are interested, you can see them in action in the opening episode of the BBC series 'The Power and the Glory".....
Stunning machine!
I have a 1965 Tiger. It's a bloody monster!
1965 tiger ? Are you talking about the shoes ?
I just found out sunbeam still made car in 1965 !
Amazing video.
This is a very pleasant surprise for me!
This car is, quite possibly, my absolute favourite of all the Land Speed Record cars. It is a very unique car, considering that it was successful even in circuit races, not a lot, if any, of other LSR cars can do well in a straight line and on the corners...
Stunning......and the car.
Outstanding!
This is nothing like the Sunbeam Tiger used on the TV show Get Smart.
Nobody said it is did they?
Sehr geiles KFZ ❤
A cofin with a V12, a car just for real men!!!
This was different and fascinating. A running commentary on how someone actually drives the car. I"d like to see more videos like this.
Legend
So strange I just saw this car on Sunday at the Oulton park gold cup and now this video has just popped up

Shame about the music drowning out the sound of that super engine noise
I don’t think I would have taken the old tiger out in the rain….. but the English are so not like us upright Americans with thier very cool older cars.
Should have taken her for a drive

Patrick's dye job is not being maintained.
""Unfortunately this cars lovely owner Vijay Mallia cannot be here today because he`s watching the tennis at Wimbledon"",,,the same owner which Wikipedia tells us....""Vijay Vittal Mallya is an Indian fugitive former businessman and politician. He is the subject of an extradition effort by the Indian Government to return him from the UK to face charges of financial crimes in India."".......A very "lovely owner" I`m sure.....Not!🤔🙄
70 years later they limit a cars top speeds at 155mph because it’s easy to reach those speeds
7500 revs on a 98 year old, 450hp thoroughbred? Delicious. 🤌🏼
