    Hi Ryan,
I am in the fence on buying TOR 2e. What are your thoughts on replayability (solo and group play)?
I will mostly play in solo mode (my group is hesitant to play since it takes place before the LOTHR trilogy).
Is it varied enough or will it be like ”doing the same thing again for the 100th time” ;)
    Happy new year!

Happy New Year to you as well!
I’m going to be a little biased and say TOR is great for Solo-play… considering that’s how this channel started was to capture and share my solo-play! It really started with want to explore the Shire and then all of Middle Earth through play, and it then lead me to go deep in reading more of Tolkien’s works! So if that is something you’d like, what other option do you have! But even for the casual player and Middle Earth fan, the material and writing of the books for TOR is top tier so lots of playability. The rules for Strider mode is written by Shawn Tompkins (Ironsworn) and Matt Click so again great rules for solo-play!
For a group, continued playability is there. I think TOR offers a much different experience and change from say D&D with its generally low magic play but heavy in world lore and building. There so much available both officially and homebrew that you have enough adventures and campaigning to last a very long time!
It’s also great reading. The material is written in such a way that you’re almost exploring Middle-Earth as you learn the rules. The look of the books lends to this as well. The artwork is excellent.
TLDR: you won’t be disappointed if you buy it!

@ Thank you! I think that you just made some money for Free league 😂 (edit. made the order).
Strider mode (from what I have watched on UA-cam) is a big reason that I want to play TOR (Shawn Ts stuff is awesome). As for Tolkiens world, whats not to like. My biggest concern was replayability but your answer puts that to rest. Thank you for taking the time to help me out.
Have you tried the Moria expansion? I heard the solo rules in that book is really good to.

      Good stuff!
I haven’t had a chance to try out Moria yet (solo or group play… been waylaid by Warhammer 40k modelling and playing!!) but it’s a great supplement even for the occasional fan. So much great writing by Gareth on fleshing out Moria without breaking Canon.

@@RyanoftheNorth W40k is not a bad thing to be waylaid by. Been a few years since I played.
I added Moria to the order when I reached the discount threshold. And an extra set of dice. Looking forward to try it out.
Thanks again for your viewpoint 👍🏻

The only bad thing about 40K is that I need more Dakka! Moria is such a great read it’s legit something that can be placed next to Tolkien’s works and it fits. Gareth, and Francesco et al done their due diligence!
