I have found that using a bricklayers trowel raises the shingles with less damage to the shingles. It is thinner and wider than a wonder bar/ flat bar and want poke a hole in the shingles and slides under the shingle better!
Wow such a great lesson for me as a new home owner on how to deal with roof contractors to make sure they do their job the right way and do not lie or try to cheat me!
What if you can’t lift up the shingles? My roof is about 8 years old and it’s super difficult to get a pry bar underneath them to pry them up. What would you do then?
I have a roof leak and my roof is roughly 15 years old. I can’t find any roofer who will come out to try to find a leak, but only will do a roof. What do you do in cases like this? It’s very frustrating because I hired a neighbor roofer and there really was no formal paperwork, under the table basically and he’s moved. Does this mean I need to replace an entire roof over a leak?
Find a handyman. Ask around for trusted workers--not necessarily roofing experts. Don't pick the cheapest or most available guy. Get the one who is honest about how challenging it is to find a leak sometimes. Or watch some more videos and get up there yourself. It's hot, awful, dangerous work, but if you have the right ladders and know-how it's not that hard. I'm searching for a leak now too on a client's house (after pulling their rotten soffit off, but before installing the new one). I'm not a roofer, but from underneath I can already tell the installers didn't penetrate the decking with their nails, so I expect I'll be searching for other leaks soon.
I remember this one leak back when I was working for another company, they used foggers, tore the roof, rebuilt it, re shingled it twice! had to work overtime too! i had already put in my 2 weeks. but I heard it was still leaking lol. it was somewhere near the chimney. I’m sure they eventually fixed it without me. they even had a roofer take a look. maybe it was the bricks
I'm not sure why there was the statement of that " this is or could be a trial and error thing" roofing is not trial and error. Its take a very certain person and skill level to be a roofers. I have never returned to a leak when i got a call but then again i been roofing 17 years now and own a roofing company. Not trying to knock you guys as your actually up on the roof and for that i command you for that but we should have been able to find that leak with out pulling any of them shingles off and by the way them look like IKO's and if so that's a whole different topic to talk about. Nice work guys you got the job done tho and that is what matters. Hope Custmer was happy. No one wants water falling on there fucking head from and roof leaking that's no fun. I apologize for my typing you know us rooofers always beat up phones screen protectors cracked and case is barely hanging on lol.
Mine is leaking around the chimney.. And i think through the vinyl siding that has the holes for ventilation. I did not think it was suppose to do this..
My roof has staples. I'm currently tracing a leak. If you have a damaged drywall ceiling, is it possible to look up through the ceiling and find staining beneath the roof and 'zero in' on the source of the leak that way?
Better way is to walk around on the roof like your listening to some funky music and the place where you get a little more funky walkin and get to bouncing, found yer leak... now if ya fall through ya got too funky with it or your a real american and dont have no place being on a roof when you were raised by putting gravy on everything.. then yea you can spot it from underneath and point at it.. dunno if itll help all that much.. but pointing always gets somebody else looking..
Thank you. I have found the leak from inside the attic but have not found on the roof from the outside. That will be my project this weekend if the rain holds off.. It's starting to ruin my sheet rock inside
While I appreciate your putting up the video and sharing the "follow the rust" principle, I am disappointing you did not show where the "under driven nail" (also called nail pop) had punched a hole in the shingle above and was actually letting the water in.
Very good information. And hopefully, your integrity is as heroic as the misplaced theme music of this video about roof leaks. Does Captain America work for you?
That’s was my thinking also The didn’t found source of leak They just found wet spots So repair in this case useless Till you will find actual source of leak
Rhonda Mills an example is a nail that bent because of hitting a nail on an underlying nail like that cap nail. If they just left it or pulled it out without using a sealing solution like tar.
Friggn roofers are some mutant bred humans.. long sleeves on an asphault roof on a hot ass day and you know its humid also.. i tried my damndest to do my own roof work.. about died.. everytime id get up there.. trying to install apron and drip edge laying on that boiling roof, cant put your elbos down cuz theyll burn but if i wore sleeves if for sure have passed slick out... different breed of human.. mexi breeds. And thats a job i gladly pay for and wonder how the hell they work with 15 people on a thousand sqft roof.. got the whole thing done in 3 hours though.. ive had poops longer than that..

Agreed
Even a kitchen spatula is better to use then pulling and tugg’n on the shingles

How long after you have put on a new roof will it take to have the nails get rusty if they are having water go through them?
What if you can’t lift up the shingles? My roof is about 8 years old and it’s super difficult to get a pry bar underneath them to pry them up. What would you do then?
the older the roof the easier it should be you just have to take it slow and be patient with the bar

Integrity just put a new roof on my rental. DId a great job. I will use them again

I can’t find a spot on my shingles, I think the flashing is the problem. Maybe it wasn’t stepped properly. What should I do guys?
Mine is leaking around the chimney.. And i think through the vinyl siding that has the holes for ventilation. I did not think it was suppose to do this..
Did you figure it out? Mine did the same and our inside cealing feel in today. I looked on the roof couldn't find anything.

Z Ack 💯 that’s how I found mine. Roof was a bit weaker in that spot.
@@Z-Ack more reason not to let people walk on roof

Patriot Skater
Here too.
I hope you found your leak in the roof.
I’m so worried!!!! I’m disabled and can’t afford a roof repair.
U found it? How u fix it?
Awesome, you have any badass roofers as yourselves in Delaware?
While I appreciate your putting up the video and sharing the "follow the rust" principle, I am disappointing you did not show where the "under driven nail" (also called nail pop) had punched a hole in the shingle above and was actually letting the water in.
Yea it didnt show solutions..
how does water get to the nails you do not show how just rusted nails
Nail got rust because of leak under shingles cause by professional roofers
@@CarlosGonzalez-js9my piss poor roofers?
How much would one of these fixes typically cost?
Thete are watet stains on the ceiling dry wall . and wall area. Cant seem to find the leak guess i will have to find a good roofer.
can you go by from inside the house..?
Very good information. And hopefully, your integrity is as heroic as the misplaced theme music of this video about roof leaks. Does Captain America work for you?
Hahaha !!!
Great video !
The background music--- I expect at least Moses to show up!!! Really guys!!!
Moses once parted the sea to check for leaks!
Saving the neighborhood...one leaky roof at a time. Some heroes wear tool belts, not capes. 😂
my roof is leaking and I couldnt find where is leaking from. could you please tell me hiw much you charge to fix
Habibur Rahman where do you live
I live in Delaware USA
@@habburahmed8823 Delaware USA? I thought Delaware was in Egypt.
The background music lol
Feels like I’m watching the super hero’s of roof repairs
It's like Jurassic Park or something
Captains log 10.2.2020... To boldly go where no roofer has gone before...
Feels like they think this is the next Marvel movie.
why don’t they use stainless nails, tightwads😆😆😆🙄🤦♀️❤️
Somebody has just discovered computer graphics. It's a wee bit heavy handed. We've all done this when we get started.
This has me pumped up to invade Mordor
Very helpful video! Thank you
The only thing this video taught me was how to say "we'll be back in a minute"
You made an entire video without showing that under driven nail as the cause of the leak. Your video is useless then
That’s was my thinking also
The didn’t found source of leak
They just found wet spots
So repair in this case useless
Till you will find actual source of leak
Yeah that triumphant music is killing me!
What the F is this short music
What’s an under driven nail?
Rhonda Mills a nail that is not all the way down.
Rhonda Mills an example is a nail that bent because of hitting a nail on an underlying nail like that cap nail. If they just left it or pulled it out without using a sealing solution like tar.
I will use this tips on next property when we buying houses cash.
thanx
This homemade star wars movie was decent
I’m
Palm to face new roof it leaks installer gone....youget what you pay for.
Guys, you got a good video but it's still freaking irritating. Listening to that loud music.
The intro is too much
Weirdest video ever.. didnt show solutions??
So dramatic!
Modern houses are junk. Plywood with chalk
