    OMG, you are a lifesaver! I needed this video. I've been looking for ways to reinforce my doors and overall just make my house more secure. Thank you so much. I'm off to watch more of your videos now. So appreciative of you taking time to give all this information.

    The door has 3 windows. Forget door armor. Get a new door

      All of that is addressed in the video and meant to show how you can secure a door with windows in it or around it. Thanks for watching!

      Depending on local building code, the double side deadbolt can be illegal. In an emergency such as fire, you may not be able to quickly unlock the deadbolt to get out in time. Even if code allows it, it’s not a good idea.

    • @WarriorWisdom
      @WarriorWisdom  3 роки тому +3

      You are right, there are some places that don't allow it. Always good to check on things like that first. Though I disagree on your other point about it not being a good idea as I highly doubt the 2 extra seconds it takes to grab the key (which you should always keep nearby in the same place) is going to be the difference between life and death. I would rather take my chances on that than on the more likely situation of someone trying to break in, but not everyone is the same as me, so that is something for each individual to think about and weigh the pros vs cons. Thank you for your input. Much appreciated!

      @@WarriorWisdom PHU - You are correct as far as your reasoning went, BUT... in any case where you or your family are at home the key SHOULD BE IN THE DEAD BOLT LOCK (in case of emergencies). When you leave simply remove the key from inside the door and lock the door from the OUTSIDE.

    Go through the glass, replace the door with a solid no window/side panel door.

    • @WarriorWisdom
      @WarriorWisdom  3 роки тому +2

      Yes, of course, having a solid metal door, security screen, and bars on your windows is the way to go. However, that is not reality. This video is intended to show you how to secure your door under normal circumstances as most people have them.

    • @johndi1962

      @@WarriorWisdom I never said anything about bars, security screen.
      They are not going to go through the door they will go through the glass.

      @@johndi1962 I understand. I was more generally speaking. If you watch the video, you will see all of that is addressed (window security film, double sided deadbolt, etc). As all doors and homes are different, it's important to know how to secure your home from all angles. Thank you for your input.

    First of all, THANK YOU SO MUCH. You definitely know what your talking about. I saw a video of a glass security company and they recommended the 12mm glass film, which is exactly what you gave us the link for in the description. Second, i have a wide front door, with decor glass on the sides and in the center of the door. I would love to replace it with a metal one but I was told it would reduce the value of the house 🙄. How can I make it even more secure? Besides the glass film, and the other things you mentioned. I feel like those might be even easier to break in: A wider wood structure that can be broken vs a smaller door with the metal things you mentioned.

      Have you looked into nightlock? I made a video about it here: ua-cam.com/video/KuOSXYB7fZg/v-deo.html
      That might be something that will help in your situation as I've seen it used a lot on large and/or "double" doors. If you use that along with everything mentioned in this video, you should be pretty well secured. It's hard for me to say for sure without knowing what your door is exactly (I'm trying to picture it in my head).

    Double sided deadbolts are a fire hazard and against code in many areas

      @WarriorWisdom  Рік тому

      Yes, there are some places that don't allow it. Always good to check on codes in your location. Although I personally doubt the two extra seconds it takes to grab the key -- which you should always keep nearby and always in the same place -- is going to be the difference between life and death in a fire. I'll take my chances on that rather than on the more likely situation of someone trying to break in, but that's just me. Not everyone is the same so that is something for each individual/family to think about and weigh the pros vs cons. Sometimes door reinforcements, window fortifications, and other home security methods come with certain risks. Appreciate your input!

    • @WarriorWisdom
      @WarriorWisdom  2 роки тому

      Some of the things mentioned in this video, such as door armor and longer screws would help keep it from being kicked in. Make sure it has a very good lock. A security door in itself is much more secure to begin with, so that's good.
