'Because World War One tanks in World War Two simply would not be practical'
*France Flashbacks*
Lol
They had better tanks than the Germans did
And more of them
Tactics is where failure was found
And politics.
@@jidk6565 I’ve heard, and I’m not sure of the reliability of the source, that the French tanks while they could outgun and outarmour the Germans, the Germans could drive around them. Surely a bit of an exaggeration, but shows that the French tanks were poor in manoeuvrability.
A lot of these things are an oversimplification of a greater picture for the benefit of brevity. Germany wouldn't hugely outmanoeuvre tanks on a small scale, but on an operational level, it would be a single char versus 25 panzers, where on a grand scale it's 25 v 25, it doesn't help that one tank when all 25 concentrate on a tank at a time. It's the same principle of Napoleonic defeat in detail.
This is also my personal understanding, which may be incorrect in itself!
@@PatchBits nah, sounds about right, wish i didnt over simplify so much
At the end, when you thought you weren't penetrating, you were actually overpenetrating. The shell entered on a side and exit the other. For that situation it is better to use APHE.
🤦
Imagine being a tanker and that shot misses you AND you happen to survive ..... 😂 "holy shit we got a new window!"
@@imablock16 id just leave the tank and go home
@@imablock16 There was an actual story where people kept thinking they missed a tank but really it just went in 1 side of the turret and out the other and hit dirt behind them lol
Ahh, the geman terrrible shell, APHE would not pen s-word
You have built a BT-7 with a high velocity 57mm. I love it :D
Thats a good way to summarize it
Or T34 reference that replaces the turret like T34 1941, T34-57, T34-75 and so on
Or a BT-42 with a smaller 57mm canon.
@@dolphingamer7661 Y e s
tell me im on drugs, but i think the first upgunned ver. It looks like a 38t who had a baby with a tetrarch, but then cheated on the tetrarch with a BT-7.
I'd love for Sprocket to have a multiplayer, especially a Co-op mode. How amazing would it be if at the start when the tank flipped, you got to hear your friend say 'I'm stuck'?
Plus it might have challenges too like it have to be under 15 tons etc or it had to be a tank destroyer
It is on the roadmap
I heard it is on their project list
You got quite lucky facing King Tigers in that Taiga mission, I created a latewar MBT with a 120mm gun and got repeatedly tracked while I couldn't pen the IS 122s.
Damn these IS 122s, I know your pain
@@bl4cksp1d3r Just tried it again, even when facing King Tigers I find they just auto-lock onto my tracks and smallest weakspots. My gunner-radioman keeps getting knocked out despite my armour amounts, my only explanation is that they're hitting my turret ring or something. My mantlet as well I can get shots through when I pit me vs me, but it doesn't show any dents there. Scudding AI aimbot.
man, had the same thing happen to me
thought my first tank i built was king until i put it on that scenario. fucker was being annihilated everytime. had to build a 98 ton fat fuck with sloped front and acquire good luck just to complete the scenario
A practical, and kinda funny example of how the best counter to heavy armor, is high mobility with a 'good enough' gun.
The m18 in a nutshell.
@@robertharris6092 well at the time the m18 had a really good gun
I wish we could see the inside of tanks in sprocket
But for this tank we’ed just see a bunch of angry concussion-induced tankers
Oh god yeah
This reminds me of when I replicated the M22 Locust. But it was the M23 Super Locust and had obscene frontal armor, with additional riveted frontal armor plates, and a 50mm gun instead of a 37. I took that little meme through the entire game. One I fine tuned the engine and transmission, I was hitting a max of 120km/h over the really open maps.
Feels like something a british madman made in his shed and somehow got built
He did!
Ahh yes, the L96A1 tank version
@@standard-carrier-wo-chan lol
"We're just checking you arent 3 guys in a shed"
"Ahaha that would be so ridiculous!" Internally screaming *we're so fucked*
i love your videos, keep it going. the idea of a ww1 tank beating every scenario sounds pretty fun but what would you say about a ww1 landship? something related to a mark V could be pretty fun
He did it
Change the suspension to bogies and you basically built a US fast/low armor tank destroyer, just needs a final upgrade to a 76mm and no roof.
Petition to name the tank "The Bouncing Flash" for how fast it is and how much it bounces around while moving or shooting
YES definitely
I saw u in the discord
must hapen
What about "Chiot avec un fusil".
@@michaeledmunds7056 no, how about “flippy mc tank”
Buddy, for one of your latest videos, mind if I suggest taking a Crusader Mk.3 tank and evolving it overtime?
Doesn't have to be completely historically accurate, so you're pretty much free to do whatever you want with it.
5:06 "In order for a nation to actually go through with actually using a tank from ww1 in ww2, it would have to have a LOT of modifications"
*cough* France *cough*
most of the french armored division where not renault FT 17, but H35, H38 and R35
Could you take a mk v ww1 British tank and evolve it through the game?
I bet this channel skyrocket in 1-2 years. See you exactly at this video after that period of time.
BTW nice build👍
Your narration voice was amazing and this video was amazing made me bust out laughing so many times like the engine more powerful than the sun
That episode was really fun to watch, I'm also intrigued by the new map they added.
The IS-122 went chameleon mode. Badass.
Awesome tank you've built as well!
one of your funnest videos to date oh my god this was a pleasure to watch
for the first tank build here, I think it's a originally french tank with an ft 17 turret, the germans captured it an hated the old ww1 turret an replaced it with their own
Just found this channel just wanted to say that I've been enjoying the content!
chessboard: *exists* Mud: yoink
Once in a Crossroads mission with my T-34 replica, one of my AI teammates randomly fired in the enemy's general direction. And killed it. It was the Tiger. The gun was some sort of long 76mm.
20:51 “they’re moving in herds!”
that tank gives me of an world of tanks variant of the pz35t especially with that turret
17:44 "drive me closer, i want to hit them with my SWORD!"
5:41 reference to Czechoslovak tanks? LT vz.34, LT vz.35, LT vz.38 (you should know them as Panzer 35t and Panzer 38t A + their variants as Panzer 35t F , Panzer 35t n.A., Flakpanzer 38t and Jagdpanzer 38t or Hetzer, these are the most famous one) + your tank looks like a Panzer 38t n.A
"Cheetah", the most successful of the German cats.
I did something similar with what looked like a Skoda T-25 but smaller and ended with some sort of Sherman with M47 look a like turret and still managed to make them feel part o a family
Nice, WW1 tanks are pretty cool!
"Unrealistically fast"
The BT-5 and BT-7 would like to have a word with you...
This is a fever dream where the Soviet Union refused to let go of the BT tank series.
Just wow
Totally love that KSP VAB BGM
Gota say that tank got sovietified whit giving it bigger and bigger guns overtime
The ksp music will always be the best for Timelapse
for the last scenario: 1/5 men usually have performance issues you know
i made a tank that served me well i needed few upgrades but it got me to crossway map and i started at ambush the tactic in my opinion is B I G G U N and F A T A R M O R
(that was my first actuall tank)
2:10 goofy ahh BT-7 ngl
It reminds me of the czech/german Pz.38 Na
Your lore for the tank basically describes the pz. 38t lol
22:49 High Speed, Low Drag!
Man that's impressive tbh.
Meanwhile I'm here editing the living hell out of my blueprint files to create ultra busted modern MBTs and casually just enable the time period override cheat to use them in even the ww1 scenario.
_Even better with the new geometric internals update, I can make composite armor bricks out of the new structure parts._
that first turret design reminds me of the Cromwell or maybe a Churchill
The “penetration bug” you’re getting is just you not hitting components/crew in the tank. You’re penning but not damaging anything.
When you got that swedish 37mm with the APDS rounds 😋
In all fairness. There were actually WWI tanks still fighting till the 1980s in Afghanistan against the Soviets. Namely the Renault FT
I love evolving some of my tanks through all scenarios
My head canon: Austro Hungarian tank
Basically what the British did. They succeeded semi-successfully as we know... *cough* Matilda...
Is it just me or does the final turret with the long gun look similar to the Super Pershing? It may just be the front of it though.
But this whole design was just so amusing to see, shame you couldn't get it all the way through without major upgrades to the gun, twice.
This tank with its long gun reminds me of the old T-50-2 from world of tanks!
playing the KSP vehicle assembly music is the only way to timelapse this
Ive done that before and went the german route, thicker armour and bigger gun
Looks like a BT series tank, crossed with the upper hull armor of a French tank, mounting a Czech turret with a German gun.
It's like a BT7 and a Pz 38t had a baby
I think the question here was how big of a gun can we slap on a light tank and get away with it
The turret kinda gives me Turan I vibes. Nice.
Bro took if it ain’t broke don’t fix it to a new level
I dont know if you take suggestions but: Could you try making a tank using modern design sentiments but period technology. Big turrets, huge lower glacis etc. Would be interesting i think.
Can you try building the ww1 fiat 2000 tank? It’s a really cool tank which receives very little attention in videogames
Ah yes the last one feels like a finish soviet war moment
This tank is fast, lightly armored, and not super massive. I would dare to say that it is a cavalry tank
As a Hungarian. What makes a turret design Hungarian? I mean is it kinda like the Toldi?
Could you try converting one of your own tanks into a tank destroyer?
A lot of fun on this lil guy. I noticed you have an absurd amount of fuel however ( 320+?!?! ) Was that a design req.?
The first iteration looks like a czech turret on a french hull with british running gear
Bought it today and only tried myself on heavy tanks for now, gotta build some light ones seemingly haha
No need for armor if you're faster than the enemy's gun traverse!
I honestly would love to see you make an FT-17 and take it to the end of the game
Yes UA-cam, this is War Thunder indeed
Never watched you before, i decided to gues what your voice was going to be, and as an american, not hearing this kind of voice much, i wasn't expecting it to be exactly what i pictured.
😅 glad I could... Be of enjoyment?
Looks like you made a better Light Tank for use by the Glider Infantry/Paratroopers.
Oh yes the German/French version of the BT series
This is sound like a challenge, build from scratch at the first scenario like a tech tree line
Great video! Are you using a mod for the extra details in the killfeed? Or is this part of an update I missed.
Update on the unstable branch!
@@PatchBits Oooh, Gotcha! This will make diagnosing a tank's weaknesses soo much easier! I got distracted by the trees and turret launching while reading patch notes I guess.
Speaking of, ever thought of playing with the new launching turrets feature and see if the Brits can win the space race before it even starts? xD
Man turned an Ft-17 into an s35
So close but yet not enough
When trying to build a WW1 tank but end up making an Lt-vz 38t wannabe tank
That starter is not a light tank, it is a fat tankette.
I saw a Somua S-35 turret there somewhere.
UA-cam algorithm brought me here, this is fantastic. Great channel!
"World War 1 tanks and World War 2 simply would not be practical"
If only someone had of said that to The Old Guard.
Though I bet they were told and ignored.
OK here is a lore idea for the tanks French German design...
1941 and the Germans need every tank they can get their hands on to go fight against the red army.
Confident in the capabilities of the formerly French tank factory "Hotchkiss" "samour" and "Lorraine" the German WPA sends out a contract to all 3 to design a tank capable of fitting a 37mm gun and possibly being able to upgrade said gun to the 5cm kwk. As the lv tz 38 already proved its worth in the French campaign, H*tler ordered that parts of the pz38t shall be interchangeable with this project.
Things like running wheels and suspension, vision slits and drive train shall be used with the tracks and overall hull design still resembling a 38t, tho retaining a French design element.
As the French Ave little experience in welding tanks and casting hulls like before was too time constraining, a bolted and riveted hull design was chosen.
As by sebtember of 1941 only the hulls were finished, each of the 3 prototypes received a turret of Germanys own welded 38t version.
The French being French however still modified sertain parts of the turret and adding revolving periscope to the rear of the turret roof to aid the commander in seeing what's behind him.
After the trials were finished the WPA ordered 10 tanks from each factory to Form a new combat group known as "Leichte Panzerabteilung 138 F" of wich the remains whould be later, in April of 1944, integrated into the Panzerlehrdivision, once more modifications had been made to the remaining 5 tanks by the lorrain tank factory.
One of these modifications was to fit it with a experimental copy of the Russian 57mm zis2 gun.
However in January of 1945 the old 50mm whould be placed back into it as a shortage of 57mm ammo came apparent
A single tank whould survive untill the encirclement in the Ruhr Valley in 1945 and ultimately be destroyed by a highly modified American t26e1 heavy tank.
In its last 3 weeks it helped to Form the spearhead that was supposed to break the remaining German forces out of the Ruhr encirclement.
Make a Bt-7 style tank for the no tanks level, narrow, long, big engine, and a long barrel 38mm. just for funsies.
Reminds me of germany using mark 4's in the defence of Berlin
bro laughs and burps at the same time
My head canon of this tank would be the germans captured and do what the did with others is modify it to their needs. Thats why it would have a germanish style
Me: angled front plate + thick turret front + 75mm gun (I keep increasing casing size and barrel length depending on era).
Hey I know your not gonna see this but what about beefing its armor up and giving it a bigger gun or is there no space
@@Greenchaoslegion-hx4k it was quite cramped by the end 😅
The KSP music is peak
BT-42 with a 75mm
Make a vehicle modular enough and you’ll never have to design a new vehicle just new parts with new technology
This man just buil strv 74 on a ww1 chassi XD
bro literally made the czechoslovakian LT vz. 38 ( Germans stole it and called it Pz. 38 t )
I did the same when i first played, however i purposely made the tank to be able to be modified later. I made a very heavy tank with a lot of sloping by the end and it did not look like it fit in ww1
"a little bit more german" my guy that's the Pz 35 n/a turret. Czech as a mofo
also "that previous turret design was silly and stupid?" the poles.... would very much agree, it didn't work.
