I got an official replacement today, it budged a bit when inserting it, and I put more pressure than I should have, the negative pin got pushed to the back, and the battery was not fully connected. I started to panic, but then I remembered your video and knew exactly what to do. I removed the sticker, pushed the cable back in place, and voila. Got a few more years on my UPS. Thanks for the video.
When I took the old batteries out, they were pretty warm. the thing is, since I got the beeping alert that there was a problem I had turned the entire unit off which was last weekend. Now 5 days later, they are still pretty warm and stayed that way hours and hours after taking them out. I feel pretty lucky there wasn't a fire!.
I wish that I would have watched this first as I cut and removed the green and red label. Guess that I will be using tape to hold the replacements together. Thanks so much for sharing your time and experience with us. Much appreciated.
Thanks for the video, worked great. When I got in my XS-1500 I realized I have changed the batteries before. Last time I didn't even use the stickers, was easy to get the batteries in without them.
I've just my BX1300 Battery alarm when ON, the I was looking for a good price on line then I came across your video, since I had 2 x brand new lead acid 12V 7Ah, battery for emergency light, I can now replace it as you show on your video, 2 thumbs up! you save me around 100$.
I was able to buy a two piece set of the batteries for the APC XS-1500 for $100. The site did say however that unit was discontinued and that I got the last in stock batteries.
If your lucky, you can find them on Amazon. A lot of times they are "Refurbished" but you can return them to Amazon within 60 days if they dont work when you put them in your APC Backup. Thats what I normally do.
Thanks you a lot! The owner of a store needed someone to do that, he thought of me as a good option and I said yes, but I didn't really remember how to replace these batteries 😅. You explained very well even a sort of "FAQ"
Very Helpful. I have the 1500 and this will make the first battery replacement I will have done. I will edit this review when I'm finished. Good job Big C
I have an APC UPS; the case identifies it as an XS 1300 (with LCD), but the stickers on it identify its official model number as BX1300G. The battery is just like the one you show here (APCRBC123). I watched this video before installing prepared to do all this. But I'd purchased an APC-built replacement (from Amazon, where the price was competitive). It comes as an assembled unit; all you have to do is slide the old one out and slide the new one in. No swapping of tape or connecting necessary; the whole operation takes probably a minute. BTW, I purchased my UPS as a reconditioned unit, and it had non-APC batteries in it. Instead of the big sheets of adhesive plastic shown here, the two batteries were held together with a few wraps of strapping tape. I mention that in case anyone has to do this and doesn't have the APC adhesive sheets, or damages them-just use strong tape, like reinforced strapping tape.
I am on my third set of batteries so I decided to test the ones I replaced, I seperated the batteries and recharged them, after recharging them I let them set for a few days, of the four batteries two were still holding a charge the other two were shorted internally and going dead on their own. Anytime you connect a bad battery with good battery they will both go dead. Bottem line I put the two that tested good togeather and I have a spare battery for my APC XS1500
+markcoveryourassets glad I was able to help. 😊 Fyi: You can disable the beeping in the APC software. If you do that, The only way to know if the battery is dead is if you read the display. Because the device will never beep. I've did that in most of mine lol.
Yea, you did help someone out. I've got two apc xs 1000's that are the same age and one needs new batteries. You showed me I needed two batteries per unit and how to get into the unit and do the surgery. Thanks. :-)
I hope this is OK: Set the speed of this video to .5 speed. Now you know what it's like to replace the batteries while stoned. I guess all videos are like this, but this one is particularly fun.
I have a 1500 and it is completely different wiring, and different extrnal appearance (white, tower) from what you show. There is a separate thick composite wire with 3 plastic channels that plugs into a 3 channel receiver on a very short wire inside the front of the box. Mine is not a simple "slide in, slide out".
Thank you so much for demonstring battery replacement on the ACP XS 1000. Because of your patient manipulations, I was able to diagnose my unit and order a set of new batteies. I decided to go with OEM battries this time but I will go with third parties the next time around :-)
Hello - I didn't hear you say this, but when connecting both batteries to the 'harness', do/should they be done in a particular b/r sequence? I connected my replacements but the batteries don't appear to be recharging after 4 hours - so I am troubleshooting. Unit power is on and nothing plugged into the back.
Hello, so the "positive" on the first battery should actually connect to the "negative" of the second battery? I'm about to order the replacement but wanted to make sure I'm interpreting this correctly. Thank you.
I have some Compucessory UPS with dual batts, but the pack doesn't have the center line-up ridge to help align and slide the pack in. Any idea on a replacement pack? I have 3 UPS, but one lost the battery pack and hence no mating bracket.
First, thanks for the great step-by-step instruction! Just wish I'd have watched it BEFORE I ordered my new XS 1000 battery - did not realize I needed TWO of them. Guess I'm waiting another week for another one then will be back to watch again! :|
I just replaced the batteries in an APC Pro 1000. The unit shows they charge up ok, but they run down quickly if not constantly plugged in. With no load plugged into the UPS, and the UPS removed from the mains AC, the batteries run completely and die within about 12 hours. Is this normal? When they show full charge, I plugged in a 60 watt light bulb as a load, and it powered it for about an hour and a half. But I thought that if I left the unit unplugged from the wall with no load the batteries would not drain that quickly. (The UPS was in my daughter's office and had trouble, so we figured the batteries were too old. But now I wonder if there is some other problem.)
Thank you! Great very informative! Can I purchase just the harness/connector? I purchased a used 1500 model and it did not come with the batteries or the harness.
I bought mine from APC, and those stickers were already on it. Unfortunately, I fast-forwarded to the portion of the video where you were taking those stickers off. So I took those stickers off my new battery! Those suckers are hard to peel off. Anyway, I put them back on and all is well. Sometimes I like to share my foolishness....
I bought mine from Amazon and they came as a unit as well. Should be a warning for folks like Lonnie and me to simply slide out the old pair and slide in the new replacements. This video is for just those buying individual batteries.
I have a few older models and 1 by 1 they are dying, the regular batteries go every few years but the main computer starts beeping every few minutes, how do I replace the computer? Its my 3rd one that did this to me and 2 of them I threw out cuz of this problem, its not the batteries going dead, its the main computer. They are about 8-10 years old. How do I replace the computer??
@@BigCVlogs ok, I was hoping to buy a computer board cuz its chirping alot but its charging the batteries but its chirping like my other one I threw away
May be a silly question...does it matter which side of paired batteries gets the green (up) label and which gets the red (down) label? I ask as the orientation of the + and - terminals, where the pack connects to the UPS, varies as a result. Thanks in advance.
We have 1000 at our church that showed no life on the battery so I google'd it and ordered a replacement. Only thing is until I saw this video, I had no idea that it required TWO batteries because none of the websites I priced mentioned this unit requiring two. Will it still work on the one replacement until I order another one?
That's something I have never tried and would not recommend trying. I would wait till you get your 2nd battery. It could overload the first battery or cause other issues or possibly a fire.
Dang, I need to change it then. Just search whatever the model of your battery backup is on Amazon with "Replacement Batterys". So like APC 1000 Replacement Batteries and they should pull up.

@@BigCVlogs Hahahaaa... well, that's how it worked! So, voltage output to the UPS is Bat1 + Bat2... Thanks, this video is the most helpful I've seen so far. And I'm up and running.
That's exactly why I came here: to find out whether it's 12v at ~14AH, or 24v at ~7AH. I do think it's the latter, but unsure. Also important to note that you can get a pretty serious time boost by putting 9AH batteries instead of the 7AH ones. I'm wondering if I could have damaged the UPS by reversing the polarity. In your orientation (laying it flat, the green label up), the bottom pin is positive and the top is negative. I also noticed the pins don't stick out enough to make contact with the internal connector. While I can take the tape off and push the pins out to their normal position, they don't seem to click into the socket inside.
