DJI has been on fire lately with their new drones and cameras. It's so cool to see them adding features our moto community actually needs. They've got a moto bundle, and a helmet clip and mics, so anyone can grab EVERYTHING they need to start motovlogging all in one place. Man, I wish we had this stuff back in the day hah As for the battery test, I'm guessing ND filters and indoor setting are making the camera work harder than it would in bright outdoor light at 1080p. Might be worth checking out more, but 3 hours of battery life is pretty epic anyway
I got to borrow an Action 5 Pro from work to test out for a weekend. I already have the Action 2, 3 & 4, but wanted to see what the Action 5 Pro was like for my case usage, primarily as a helmet mounted dash cam & recording rides with friends on the weekend. What really impressed me was the wind cut feature compared to the previous models. This thing cut out almost all of the wind noise from the mics, so you can actually play back the raw footage with the sound up & have a nice engine & exhaust soundtrack. Turn your head & it's game over, but if you keep the Action 5 Pro pointing straight ahead it does a fantastic job.
I am on the fence as to whether it's worth the upgrade from the Osmo action 3 which I currently have. Is the video quality noticeably better? I haven't really seen any proper comparisons between the 3 and 5 in this regard
@@jamesblogg2396 To be honest, there's not much difference in it in standard recording modes, although the 10-bit D-Log is very useful if you're mixing video from different camera sources. The 5 Pro is more of an evolution of the previous models rather than a revolution. The Action 3 is a damn good action camera to begin with. I can't fault DJI for not messing with the recipe too much.

Thank you for this…. I have the action 4 and curious about the 5. I have a mic 2 in my helmet and a second mic recording from the back pouch in my jacket. This might be worth it just to keep from having to overlay the exhaust audio. Gonna put it on the Christmas list!
@@spitescorner I've been running the 360x3 as my second angle. The Action4 will likely be passed down to my Son as he complains about the old gopros i gave him when I switched to dji.
Good you said sponsored at the beginning as a lot of non sponsored content makers have a different opinion. The last firmware update made it a bit better but don’t think it will be able to beat Insta 360 Ace Pro 2 coming out 22th Oktober. The 5 pro will need a couple of extra firmware updates before delivering what it promised.
I don't say positive things because it's a sponsored video. I accepted the sponsorship because I think the product is the best for my use case. It might not work for other people. But as a motovlogging camera the OA5 is at the top of the heap IMO
I have the 4 and i love it the only reason i would upgrade is if my camera died. If it is true that u can put the 5s longer lasting battery in the 4 then there's no reason for me to upgrade for years. i used gopro before and i have PTST form that lol
I mean this is the video a lot of creators on UA-cam should have been making. I prefer the generational reviews over competitor reviews, because 9 out of 10 times DJI or Insta will ask to bash go pro only to have the creator go back to GoPro within a month. (Spite actually did not go running back to GoPro I do think he really hates the brand, and I understand that) The only thing I found weird was making the Ace Pro sound bad, you recommended that camera to the audience last November even without all the features turned on. The big deal right now for the Action 5 is the bitrate and with a firmware update in the works I want to see if that hurts battery life. If I were in the market, I would wait until Christmas and get a 4 with the Mic 2
I don't hate gopro, I just don't use their products because they don't work as well for my needs. As for the ace pro, my main complaint, and after spending time on the new patches, I can't get the audio match the DJI and the picture quality is not as good. I do still stand by my review though, as a one stop vlogging camera it's a great choice, but it's a jack of all trades master of none. I need a camera that's only good at one thing and that's motovlogging.
If you mean the X4 360 degree camera versus the Action 5, I'd say get both, they're very different cameras. Otherwise I'd just get the Action 5. I really don't enjoy using my X3 anymore.
Great video man, can't wait to get mine too OA5 pro, the Drift Ghost-S i got is long overdue . Insta Ace Pro 2 will launch in 2 days will you compare them?
Ok last comment or two. Please seem me any of Your old tech gear. I’m starting a tech refurb and repair business this month hopefully. Or next. Last can you remind what the main factor was in you choose dji over ace pro? I can’t recall
I think yearly updates can make sense for super users like you. As long as the new/improved features can justify it. Personally I'd love to have one, but atm the 4 is on sale and still too far out of price range.
All talk about battery life.... With the new update and the higher bitrate, there is not much battery life left. In addition, it now overheats after a very short time
Ah see this is shady I’ve seen this before, at least GoPro doesn’t play this game and issue battery and temp claims that he’s low bitrate etc and probably uses the on board storage as a cache on a pre release FW. Lots of pc component makers are playing this game Apple and Samsung need to enter the action market
Wonder what the battery is time at high bitrate high settings etc etc I’m sorry but if they were testing less than 1080p30 that’s sketchy. My GoPro lasts forever on 1080p30, record in 4k60 or 5.3k 60 etc you get like 30-45 minutes assuming it’s not freezing or melting hot
For me, DJI Action 4 worked really badly. Not only it couldn't record 4k or 2k 120 FPS videos even on the fastest SD cards, it also randomly opened up underwater and died forever due to really bad design of charging port door. I got GoPro Hero 12 as a replacement and somehow it doesn't have any problems recording even 4k 120 FPS, and its door seal looks WAY more reliable. So I'm not coming back.
@@frozen_spider I had issues for 4k120 on my action 4 until I found a fast card that works. For me it wasn't just the "U" rating but also the "V" rating needed to be beyond DJI's specs

Tbf resolution and fps alone are almost meaningless, GoPro could have a much lower bitrate in high mode but I doubt that’s true. My GoPro records 5.3k60 high on a v30 so idk I don’t mind sticking to hq sd cards if it makes a big improvement but if it doesn’t that’s dumb

I don't actually know, but bit rate doesn't tell the whole story. On YT a nice high bit rate video will get annihilated by the compression algo. I'd rather have complex shadows and contrast personally.
The OLED screen uses less power. Dark parts of the screen do not use power. An OLED can have a brighter display in the sun. Not a huge thing maybe, but not nothing. I got one. Boringly perfect.
