Great now i cant get that song out of my head 🤣
Edit: if y'all know the song you're a legend!!
Ben is the only gardener on YT that I genuinely enjoy watching 😊 he's cute, gentle and informative. 🤗
You make me blush! That's very sweet of you to say, thank you. :-)
Short, informative videos , no BS. Love it. His book is great too
Hes also in my hemisphere n latitude so.thats great for me too.
You win! You won! You are such a wonderful, truthful, honest and fantastic channel. You inspire me and my garden.
Bless you - thank you!
I don't have What's App on my phone. My phone is old. I'm old. I do love your channel and you are helping me bring my garden to life. I'm in Minneapolis, MN USA.
We love you, BEN!!!!!
Stop, stop - you'll make me blush! Cheers for watching. :-)
“Pimp my Garden” HA! I love it! I’m doing the same now! I’ll have the coolest garden in the county when I’m done!
Nice one Tristan - get it pimped!
I had a good giggle hearing you say "pimp my garden" ...great job beautifying your garden space.
Glad I raised a smile Tamara. :-)
How Clever! I love the potted bamboo to disguise the trampoline! It is all so beautiful ❤️
Ben, thank you for your enthusiasm! It's so contagious ;) Lots of love your way!
Thanks so much - love right back at yer!
Really?! But I'm in Poland...
What a great refresh! It's going to look wonderful in summer, especially with all the height. My whole garden is about as big as your veg patch but this year I've got a wooden arch to go in, I'm taking out the concrete path for stepping stones and putting in a small wildlife pond. At least that's the plan once the weeks of windy weather end.
That sounds like a great plan. Every garden should have a wildlife pond - so good for both wildlife and the gardener!
Ben, Love your ideas! One little suggestion, put pavers or bricks under your bench arbor legs to keep them from rotting! Keep dirt away from sides as well. Your arbor will last years longer. Garden looks great!
Great advice, thanks Ronda. :-)
Looks fab... and bravo for leaving the dead tree for all the beasties to use!
Your garden looks fabulous! I love seeing your dog in the videos.
I’m in my second year, as a gardener. And I love watching your channel! Great ideas ,thank you!
Thanks for your support Rebecca.
This will look amazing! Nice to watch this video during a huge snow storm... hahaha... makes me dream.of spring!
It was a rush to get it completed before a big ol' wind storm here! I hope spring gets off to a great start for you.
I wish I was doing more to make the garden pretty, but compared to last year, this year is downright elegant
Here in Virginia, we have wine berries growing wild. They’re a bit invasive in our climate, but the berries are so delicious! They ripen along with our early wild blackberries. Happy Gardening!
The new features and bamboo wall look great. Cheers!
Lovely video! I gave my garden a make-over and it's fabulous. I built raised beds *14 of them* and I built them 4'x8'x12" deep, with a 4 foot-wide pathway in between them. I did this so I can move my big farm cart all around the garden, and if the world gets any more insane and I need more room to grow, I can take off the end pieces and move them to reach the other raised bed, thus making a 4'x12' bed. I love your garden seat/trellis, I am looking for one of those over here in the USA. And your camouflaged trampoline with bamboo is outstanding! Happy Gardening, soft rains and gentle winds ~ your friend in America
Oh wow - that's a proper project - well done on such well-dimensioned beds! I think growing more food is a very wise move in these uncertain times. Best of luck with this year's growing season. :-)
thank you! I pray these horrific UK storms leave you unscathed.
Elton John meets Gardeners World and I mean that in a hugely supportive way. Love it!
I'm very honoured Arthur - that's exceptionally high praise indeed!
pimping your garden while avoiding having to use ho's, ben is definitely on a different level, a raised level one might say.
Haha, very good! 😀
I'm just blown away by any sort of gardening being done this time of year. Your soil is so... not frozen! LOL
I'm in central Canada. As I write this, we are at -25C with a wind chill of -36C.
I have got some seedlings started indoors, though, in preparation for planting after our June 2 last frost dates. A couple of varieties of tomatoes, 3 varieties of onions, 2 varieties of gourds and Wonderberries. I'll be starting shallots indoors, soon, then more tomatoes around mid March.
Oh wow - that's very fresh! Glad you're managing to make a bit of a start though.
You have such a happy energy, I wish your videos are longer by another 10 mins
That's so kind of you to say Kay, thank you.
Love the new look. Can you tell us where you sourced the arches and obelisks? They certainly add style to the veg garden which proves that vegetable gardens can look beautiful as well as productive.
They were both sourced from Agrs: The arches from Agrs: www.agrs.co.uk/products/elegance-round-arch
@@GrowVeg are they the ones at £314 each! I love them but that would take a huge amount of beans / squash to recoup that outlay!
They are wayyyy to expensive, you can make them yourself cheaper and they will be sturdier too, you just need a few supplies ;)
Oh my goodness, they are fabulous, but way out of my financial reach I'm afraid.
That's going to be so pretty!
Im pimpin my garden this spring by building a bunch of new planters n moving my trees around. Yay!
Nice one!
The terracotta is a great addition to your last shots. A bit of structure really makes the wood elements pop.
That's really kind of you to say - I'm really pleased with the way it looks also.
You make it all look so easy. I guess having a plan helps😁👍🌱 Thanks for the tips.
Oh Ben, your garden is going to be a showplace in no time. Congrats on your excellent work and beautiful garden.
Thanks Donald, that's very kind of you to say. :-)
Looks great! It will be beautiful in full fruition!
Cheers Sky!
Glad to see you starting your own forest garden Ben! :D
I love the idea of it - can't wait to see it all start to take shape. :-)
Getting my house set up and spring cleaning done before grow season starts where I am can’t wait for the new season and all that will grow this year. North eastern gardener still dealing with snow hahaha.
Spring is just around the corner Samantha.
@@GrowVeg that it is gonna start some seeds inside this month so excited
Wow!! Love the garden bench
Thanks so much - it's so nice to have somewhere to sit now!
Just moved into a house with a proper backyard for the first time! I'm working on planning my kitchen garden and going to be building my beds in the next few weeks! I'm super excited!
Nice one - good luck with it all. :-)
You are KILLING me ! Lol. I want to get to work ! Afraid my garden is not as eye pleasing as yours. I do, have a fence to grow cucumbers and squash up in the middle. But with a bad deer problem, I have to keep it contained in an enclosure of 7 ft high bird netting.
We have those Japanese raspberries that grow wild here in the Mtns. I love them. Pick them every summer. Keep up the good work and have a blessed week
What a treat to have wild raspberries - wow! I'll keep up the good week Tonie - and you do the same of course! Have a blessed week also.
I am presently looking for my forever homestead. But you have given me so many ideas!
I am working to re-claim a rock bordered 2 level garden area at our place that was let go by previous owner. One thing I wish the Garden Planner had would be rocks to place as borders for a bed! Love the planner and your videos!
Thanks for the suggestion K M - I'll forward that on to our development team. Glad your enjoying the videos. :-)
I’m totally pimping my garden this year. Expanding the fence another 30ft across the back to keep pets out of it. Finishing my greenhouse, building 14 new raised beds, clearing up a space between my neighbors and my fences for a orchard. I’m going to also put in some new fruit bushes, grapes and expanding my vegetable crops this year. Loads to do but the ground is frozen so I have to wait a little bit.
It sounds like you'll have a busy time ahead - but I'm sure it'll look stunning once complete. :-)
Don't know where my comment went! I love this pimp out! This year I actually put in a metal gazebo with each side buried in a bed. I can't wait to have it covered with squash and beans for a beautiful dining Pavilion!
It will look awesome - what a great setting for dinner!
brilliant garden design, Ben. Just love the raised beds trimmed and mulched walking paths and, all the arches with your plan for climbing fruit! also, what a nice touch of that natural wall of bamboo!
Thanks so much. :-)
I did a lot of regesigning my garden in 2020 and 2021. This year will be few small projects, trying to sit back and enjoy the work done :)
It's important to take a step back and enjoy from time to time. :-)
Loved this episode. More of this. The garden looks great. Thanks!
Cheers David!
Hi, your garden is looking lovely, I like all the ideas you’re sharing, I definitely going to get some bamboo planting in my garden👍
Nice one Yanee - the bamboo is really quick to set up and makes an immediate impact. Just be sure to pick a non-invasive bamboo if you're planting it directly into the ground.
Since I'm moving into a new house the first week in March, I will have to wait and see what is there. Two raised beds already in place will have my reliable herbs: parsleys, chives, thymes, oregano, basil, and ginger. I always use plenty of marigolds, nasturtiums, and borage to keep the pollinators happy and to provide a colorful view. I can't wait to see what my new property will have. Stay tuned. SW Washington State, USA
Please let me know how you get on Janet - exciting times ahead!
I'm doing the forest thing with wide raised beds. I've been busy all winter dumping leaves, pine needles and sticks. I'll have the pathways lit at night so I can visit in the dark.
What a great idea!
Can’t wait to see the evolution over the seasons! 👏
Spring is just around the corner and this video popped up in my email today! Makes me want to go out and do stuff, but winter here is very wet and windy so I'll do some planning instead. Thank you so much!!
Planning is a very important part of the gardening year - so much promise lies ahead!
Wow! What a difference you've made already. Looking good 😃
Spring? Here in TN we should be seeing sun and 50*-65*F. Instead we've experienced round after round for nearly 8 weeks of arctic cold fronts. One day 73*F the next day wicked storms and a cold front with 21*F temps. Finally today sunny but 26*F! I had to heat my year round greenhouse since November! Usually only Jan-Feb. Thank you for encouraging folks to plan a restful sitting area in their garden. I always plan special place to sit in my gardens so that not only can I admire all my hard work, but also the oxygen form all that vegetative growth is invigorating! With a sunshade, I actually sometimes nap back in my private little area.
That is some wild swings in temperature! Hope spring arrives for you soon so you can relax and take those naps!
I have just been garden dreaming. It is still covered in that white stuff also known as snow!
Looking fab, Ben! What a difference 🤩
Cheers Rita!
Thanks, I was inspired by one of your other vertical gardening videos to get some arches which I erected this week. You're right, they do add a touch of height and splendour to a garden, and should look good in the summer with peas, beans, sweet peas etc.
That's super to hear Reggie. Pleased it's added a touch of splendour. :-)
I love your magic finger snap that covers 15 hours of work with a snap! That was an amazing amount of digging, leveling, and planting, and it looks great. I wonder why you don't cut the ivy off the apple tree down at the base (by your new bench). Then the ivy could die back and be carefully removed from the apple tree. Ivy is a parasite that will stunt your tree. Wonderful projects. Thanks for sharing!
I'm wondering about removing the ivy. It's not very thick so I don't think is causing any issues with the tree yet, and I can easily sever it at the base. Ivy is great for wildlife. I may keep it for this year then cut it next.
@@GrowVeg It's certainly up to you and you have a beautiful garden. Ivy is also great shelter and home for breeding mosquitos, rodents, and undesirable mammals. The little hairs or filaments dig into the tree (or bricks on the side of a home) for a foothold and eventually degrade the bark or bricks.
I love how this looks. I can’t wait to see its progress over the growing season.
That's a lot of hard work!
Thank you for inspiring me to do more in my garden!
Being a novice gardener and only just having bought my first house, Ben's videos give me hope! Currently it is a sea of slabs, gravel and slate with three big tree stumps. But hoping that a bit of manual labour will mean over the years I can develop a garden I will love. Seeing from scratch the cardboard method makes it seem a lot less overwhelming!
Yes, the cardboard method does make things much easier - less digging! Good luck getting your garden in shape - I hope you manage to create a beautiful garden soon.
@@GrowVeg Thank you, Ben! I have a variety of veg seedlings on my window sill so even if it is just containers this year whilst I tackle the rest of it I am determined to grow some delicious produce! 😁
I’m thinking of changing my large 5ft square veg beds for som pallet collars to make it easier for me to manage, so couldn’t have been more timely, thanks Ben
Glad it was so well timed Lynda!

Good-day Ben!🙂 What fun watching you and Rosie have grand fun in the garden! Your garden always looks beautiful...yet, you've managed to make great improvements in one day.👍
I've been working on adding height and interest to my garden too. My hubby put up 2 arches...for beans, Armenian cucumbers and such. I also ordered 2 obelisk he put together about 2 weeks ago...for peas, pickling cukes, and such.🙂
I did add a few more beds...containers...I mostly container garden. Also I planted my first grapevine...Niagara.🙂 I'm growing more fruit in our edible landscape too.🙂
I'm putting in a small pond made from a large pot...some gifted me lotus seeds!😄
I wanted a metal table and chairs set to enjoy lunch or reading my Bible in the garden...on Valentine's Day my hubby and I found a black metal patio table and chairs set at a thrift store! So blessed...my plan is coming together too!😄
I see Rosie is a daddy's girl.🐕
Thanks for encouragement and know how!😃
Wow Valorie, it sounds like your garden is really coming together. And what a lovely Valentine's Day find - raiding the thrift store is always like a treasure hunt!
Rosie is a great gardener - well, she's good at digging anyhow!
@@GrowVeg 😄
Loved the "pimping my garden" theme and I'll be building a third arch this season for summer squash and mini melons (t-posts, panels and everyone's best friend: zip ties). My three newer lavender plants didn't make it through last year's winter so I'll dig up the area, adjust the irrigation flow and plant Tula Magic and Latham Red raspberries. I also bought a few strings of solar LED tiny lights that I will run along my beds and arches! Pimped out indeed LOL. Finally, a friend inspired me to make a birdie haven in the corner of my yard: post is installed, will add feeders, houses and a ninetieth raised bed for flowers. I LOVE the arches, bench and obelisks and cannot wait to see how your garden transforms this summer!
It sounds like your garden's getting the pimped treatment too - great stuff!
Stellar job, cannot wait to see how the garden progresses!
With food prices increasing dramatically, I’m trying my hand at a veggie garden for the first time in over a decade. My backyard is absolutely tiny, so it’s an interesting challenge to find spots where I can tuck in some veggies and make them part of the landscape.
I literally had all yard. I pulled up slabs, hammered in old fence slats that I'd snapped to 1' long to act as a low level edging and threw down some compost. It's given me an abundance of root vegetables and courgettes! I've made raised two tiered planters (4' long, 1' wide by 18" deep on each tier, perfect for square foot gardening and deep enough for deep rooted plants) and attached really heavy duty casters to carry the laden weight. These are ideal on the slabbed yard and I can easily move them around if I think they need more or less light, depending on what's growing in them!
You can do this even in a small space. Get inventive and I'm sure you'll achieve your goal! X
Absolutely Munchkinzi - very encouraging words. :-)
The garden looks amazing with the additions Ben. Can't wait to see it once everything starts to grow around it!
Cheers Shefa!
Thank you for sharing! Always appreciate you allowing us into your garden! We added strawberry towers into our raised be garden this year made from scrap cedar fence at the local lumberyard
What a fantastic way to make strawberry towers Patrick - great job!
Wow! That’s one transformation…
Thank you for the relaxing video! We just moved into a new home so we're setting up from scratch! Starting with 3 raised beds for tomatoes and onions. Some grow bags for potatoes. And (super exciting!) 2 apple trees! Golden delicious and honey crisp.
Delicious varieties Shannon - good choice!
I really needed that jingle they used in the tv show “pimp my ride”
I know - that would've been the icing on the cake!
It's going to be a beautiful year to be in the garden!
I hope so!
Hi
I love watching you in your garden, I have been doing a big project in my allotment, taking all the old pigeon lifts Down and trying to create a vegetable garden with new fencing, sheds, greenhouse, and raised beds, I have had a few setbacks with the storms damaging my new greenhouse and breaking the glass, I am always looking for new ideas and tips, this year I will not be able to do much planting as I have to concentrate on my finishing my big project,
I hope your project continues well - good luck with it. :-)
Wow, Ben! That was such a satisfying video! What a transformation. My tiny plan is to add a mini water feature to Toad Town..a large circle of miniature plants and toad huts we put in for the grandchildren. It has a low bird bath but I want something natural. I got a black plastic oil drip pan and intend to fill it with pond stones and maybe a water plant. A much better water feature for the toads!
What a wonderful treat for the toads - every garden should make more space for wildlife like that - good on you Helen.
i will be expanding my garden and creating an outdoor living area. Plus putting in two large flower beds for my landlord. It is going yo be a busy spring and summer.
Good luck with all the work ahead Denise - it will look stunning I'm sure.
@@GrowVeg gardening is a passion, so it will show through the care you give it.
Love the touch with the wine berry. I was lucky to come across a patch on my property. They are rare in my area but I’ve been cultivating mine.
What a super thing to come across Eric.
It definitely was. I had never even heard of them till I found some berries ripening on the tree line one day. Since then I’ve been obsessed with them. One of my favorites. Can’t wait to see how they look in your garden
Well done!! Hard work, beautiful result!!! 🌱☀️
Loved seeing your make over of the garden, especially love the arbor seat. Here in PA, we are currently in the midst of a winter storm, and have sleet and freezing rain now for hours. So, no outside gardening going on here, just dreaming. Be safe and stay well, thanks for sharing. Catherine
Will do Catherine. And you - spring isn't too far off now.
Love it! Your veggie garden will look glorious this coming summer 🌏🤎💙💚🍃🌱🌿
Love the chair. Garden is looking great!
Thank you :-)
I’ve put in several of those metal beds you see everywhere these day, to see if they stand up to the climate (and damage) better than wood. The plan is to stop chasing the tomato dream and put in a bunch of sweet potatoes instead, see if I can get some bang for my gardening effort for a change.
Very best of luck for the new growing season Tina.
Hi Ben,
Like what you are doing to your garden - keep up the good work. In respect of your last comment; I decided to set my lower garden to no-dig raised beds last year. I have a industrial saw mill within a short distance fom my home so, wood was not a problem. The garden has a downward slope so decided to build 6 of 3m x 1.2m wide x 4cm thick. The top board was 20cm high whilst the bottom was 30cm high to allow levelling off width ways to the slope of the garden. I also had 2 with the same dimensions only they were 6m long. During my chemotherapy a major side effect was balance so with 'Murphy's Law' something was bound to happen and did. Whilst inspecting some blighted tomatoes, I lost my balance and fell onto the edge of one of the beds and broke 2 ribs under my heart. So I'm really 'Pimping my Garden' this year with initially 6 illumenated 70cm raised beds facing downward to the slope of the garden. At 75, the work is arduous but well worth it - I hope in the long run to upload still images of the finished planters (or potager's as they call them here in France).
It sounds like you have a incredible garden. Do take it easy on the slope though - that sounds like you had a bit of a near miss! But keep growing (and going!).
Looks great already. Can’t wait to see it progress and grow!
Ben, you’re my fav. Great info and ideas yet realistic to the average backyard gardener. I don’t follow everything exactly as you do it but your videos keep me on track.
I started last summer with 3 6’ x 50’ rows. Some abundance and some flops on year one. But the joy is in the journey, I’m still learning.
I added a raised bed (4’ x 8’) last year, have just added one more and hope to get one or two more built before spring is over. I use pallets cut in half. The first one I lined with plastic (just ok). The last raised bed I lined with old tin roofing. I love to reuse, repurpose, and recycle.
Well done on reusing and repurposing - that's the best way to do it. :-)
Looks fabulous!
What a difference!! Wow 🤩 looking great Ben. You’ve made good use of the dry winter months before the busy seeding season starts. Well worth the effort to make the year ahead easier.
You’ve definitely earned a sit down with a cuppa on the new bench. Can’t wait to see it all flourish 🌱🍎🥬🍓🫐🥒🥕🌽🥔🍆🌶🫑👍🏻👏🏻
Thanks Jo. It was such a relief/joy to get it all finished.
The changes look great, I can’t wait to see how it transforms in summer
Hay Ben love the Japanese wine berry iv got one myself and yes it will go up and over but it do have thorn but worth the friut very very sweet indeed happy digging
Really looking forward to trying them Michael - I've only heard great things about Japanese wineberries.
@@GrowVeg yes they are good and sweet friut but have big thorns on them so keep in to them and they grow like raspberrys every where from mine to yours happy digging
Nice video with lots of good ideas. 😊 I especially liked your clever bamboo screen.
Love watching your videos! I always learn something new!
I love your gardening ideas. Thank you for sharing all your tips ❤️❤️❤️😊
Really nice food forest you got there I find they’re the best way to grow perennial plants as they work as a mini eco system working in harmony. Great video as usual. Llyr
That's the hope Llyr. Thanks for watching. :-)
Nice job Ben. Looks lovely. It has inspired me to get my garden pimped up too. I'm well looking forward to spring.
Nice one!
Fabulous Ben, lovely arbour. A place to sit and enjoy the fruits of your labour. You made it look easy, but I am sure that was hard work. 👏👏🧑🌾
I'm not a natural when it comes to assembling items like that. It took a whole morning but was so worth the effort. :-)
I love those wineberries, although they are invasive in my area, sadly. The bench with the arch is beautiful! Spring is later for me (Northeast US) Where did you get your arches and obelisks?
I had some growing wild in se TN. They are rare here and when I traveled to New England, I was amazed at how many were all over the sides of the road. I love them though and I’m glad I had some growing on my property. I’ve been helping them along and propagating them as well.
The arches and obelisks were sourced in the UK from a company called Agrs, but there are many similar products online. Can't wait to try the wineberries!
I join all the others who asked where you bought your garden bench arbor and obelisks. If you know of any sources that also ship to the U.S. that would be really helpful. Your enthusiasm is catching!
The arches are from Agrs: www.agrs.co.uk/products/elegance-round-arch
The bench is from a UK box store, but originally made be Rowlinsons: www.rowgar.co.uk/product-category/default-category/our-range/arbours-arches/
I'm not sure if either supply to the US, sorry.
Great channel, nice to see a fellow countryman go through the same trials and tribulations due to the unpredicatble British weather. Keep up the excellent work, I've still yet to have a successfull tomato crop without them being affected by blight or cracking tomato skins... Hopefully with the inclusion of a greenhouse this year, I may have different results!
I think that greenhouse will make a spectacular difference to your chances of tomatoes. It'll be a game changer!
@@GrowVeg hope so my friend...
Fantastic garden improvements... especially love the bench/arbor! Such a great place to sit and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and admire your garden. This spring I'm building a deck (with seating) and a 6'x8' greenhouse, which I've been wanting for soooo long.
Oh wow Helen - that will make sure a difference. Enjoy it all!
@@GrowVeg Hi Ben, what's the shortlisted winners all about. Is this legit?
This was a brilliant video. I'm trying to make my vegetable garden more beautiful this year. You have given me lots of fab ideas
His was a great video. We are approaching our third year in this location and each year I have enlarged my garden.
From a simple two meter by three meter plot and three raised beds to what will be this year a massive change. The actual wood chipped area has grown five times in size. The in ground garden is being turned into two tall raised beds…easier on my back….with an arch between them. Two new raised beds are going into the front yard to grow squashes….deer don’t like the prickly leaves, plus three more small raised beds along the Sid elf the house. Not sure if the arch and bottle wall will go in this year but certainly the food production and aesthetics will be massively improved.
Wow Janet - it sounds like you've got an incredible garden there! Lots of promise to come. :-)
Beautiful! Those bean arches are awesome. I haven't seen them in my trellis shopping, well that are affordable, or cost effective.
The arches are from Agrs (www.agrs.co.uk/products/elegance-round-arch) but they are quite expensive. There are some similar arches that are a bit cheaper, but they do tend to cost a bit.
Looking beautiful. I'm still in that 'Oh my goodness. There's just *SO* much that needs to be done before the spring and I'm already behind' mode. That said, seedlings are coming on nicely in the greenhouse, and there is slow, steady forward progress. It's just that early spring thing. Yours is definitely inspiring me to get out there and do a bit more each day (can't believe how established this year's nettles are already trying to be!). ...and your video just reminded me to check on my chitting potatoes, so that's really handy. Thank you.
Doing a bit more each day is a great idea - take it steady, there's no hurry (until spring really does get underway!). :-)
@@GrowVeg yup. This dysautonomia stuff is apparently here to stay, which is taking some getting used to, but we have a long-term goal as far as making the garden a safe place for me to work in alone again (spouse will occasionally add heft, but is much more of a sit in it and admire it/eat the produce type enjoyer of gardens). The slowing down is necessary, but frustrating! (though the family gifted me some long reach tools for xmas, so at least bending and twisting is now at a minimum).
This is actually the first year I’m not making big changes or expansions to the garden. I’ve pretty much expanded to every possible corner of the yard and I have no space left, not even vertical space lol
This year I get to enjoy my fully built garden and just focus on growing and maintaining it. Although I’ll probably come up with some kind of garden project at some point because I love the projects!
It's always great to have a project on the go!
Very nice! I love the new seating area 😍
Looks amazing Ben!!! Thank you for your weekly inspirations. I can't wait for next weekend to get back into the garden to pimp up my own veg patch.
