Astonishing that you caught coho there. Fifty years ago or more there was some good coho fishing there plus some chum. There is no hatchery fish released into that river but some may stray in there. Most rivers and creeks in this category are closed to salmon fishing as the runs aren't monitored.
Just a reminder. Check the regulations both Provincial and the DFO regulations on any new river you fish. Unless specifically listed as open, all streams in Region 2 are closed to salmon fishing. This river is not dead. Many people fish it for carp. There are also LMB in there plus other coarse fish.
