Wanting to do some backpacking there this year before it gets cold. Really like the area and its been to long since ive been in those mountains. Nice video. As for the hole in your shoe, hiking really wears on footwear. I can take some like new boots and have them looking pretty worn in just a few days on trail
Tina!!! So glad I found your channel! Miss seeing you around. Heading to pecos in a few weeks with some buds that haven't backpacked for over a decade. Hope I don't wear them out.
Hey Bill! Good to hear from you. Hope you enjoy your trip. I’ve made the Pecos on July 4th an annual thing. It’s a great spot to get out of the summer Texas heat. The Jacks creek/Beattys loop is in great shape right now. Otherwise there are lots of blow downs, fire scars, and rough trail to deal with. Let me know if you needs any info on trails.
@@billhersch5192 Will do. Conservation is over at City Hall now so I don’t get to see them anymore. It is a good chance to see me down there on a winter 3 day weekend.
Thank you for the video! I plan to be there this weekend. Looks like there was plenty of water but were there any areas where it was scarce? Also, I hammock camp so I’m wondering if there were plenty of trees along the route. Thanks!!
Sorry, just now saw this. Everywhere on the map that showed water had it. Seemed to be an above average snow year the past winter. Hope you had a great trip.
Great video. Excellent footage (except you went sideways LOL). Great exposition. I truly appreciate the lack of music--I go into the back country for the silence, not to jam to tunes. It would be great if you referenced a map in your videos & labeled some peaks or lakes. How do you not get lonely when you solo backpack?
I’ve never felt lonely in general. I feel comfortable in my own company and like moving at my own pace. These videos are just raw footage that I throw together. Not much effort on my part because I am usually busy planning the next trip.

What a terrific trip! Thanks for sharing. I like your presentation style, no goofy music just gonzo style narrative and ambient noise. Good stuff.
Awsome video, I'm from Northern nm and you did the full tour that's so cool keep up the Awsome content

Beautiful area, thanks!
Just what I needed - I'll be there in a couple of weeks! Great to get some recent info and views.
Wonderful area , extreemly high fire and lightning danger during summer , spring and fall are better.
Fabulous

Wow. This was 2023? I thought this area had been lost to the Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon Fire in 2022...
That burn only affected the area east of the Pecos river. Plenty of other burn scars from previous years in this area though.
