- What a way to end the 2016, driving from Budapest, Hungary to Bucharest, Romania via some amazing roads, a lot of fun, and insane crowds at the checkpoint in Sibiu.

The thing with Romania is that we have such a great landscape, but damn the roads are awful. Indeed, this problem is getting fixed, but at a very very slow rate. Hope you loved Romania and who knows, maybe we'll see again :) Cheers!

Roads here in NYC are worse, i know because i am Romanian and have lived and driven in NY over 27 years. I go to Romania once a year now and i am always pleasantly surprised. I see very rapid changes for the better
It's so weird to realize that you were 30 minutes away from my house when you passed by Arad, Romania. I hope you guys had a great time there. The roads can be horrible, but the country is very beautiful!

Well done Schmee and crew, a very important part of Gumball as you were the best known and seemed to engage the crowds the best. Men In Brabus were excellent as well, great fun and an epic vehicle to the do the Gumball in as well.

+japanluv It's is a really nice mountainroad! I expected that the Gumball would take this pass, but it was closed. And at the Gumball they drive a lot of kilometers per day so they take a lot of highways to arrive on time at the next destination.
Felt like Gumball 3000 went so quick this year :/

Romania is currently building their highways system to connect the entire country from East to West, North to South, etc.
+Daniel K Yeah and most of the funds are going in the pockets of the politicians, having drove from Constanta to Bucharest, vice versa countless times and Bucharest to Brasov in the last three years the roads are awful. The trucks chew up the tarmac and they are never repaired.
Romania is curently try to finish a 5 km highway...
? No they aren’t. 2020 and there’s no highway to Sibiu.

+Xander Vallance That's correct, and it is the exact problem with Gumball rallies in recent years. There are too many rules and regulations to the point where if you go down the wrong stretch of road you get fined. The result is that it becomes slightly tedious. The whole reason it became famous is because of the raw nature of fast exotic supercars racing flat out on public roads. Not fast cars going at 70mph 90% of the way. It is an event that has become too regulated, yet kept alive, ultimately resulting in a less exciting experience for those watching.
Yeah there are too many rules but going flat out on public roads shouldn't be allowed anyway. Members of the public were killed in the 2007 rally.

couldn't agree more. he should change his name to cringe150. Not sure if it hasn't come through on camera, but the last few years of GUMBALL look so boring compared to how it used to be. Wonder if the gum is finally loosing its flavour ? I hope not !

I'm amazed by some of the hate here, considering you've all taken the time to watch the videos. Doesn't make sense, unless there is a hint of jealousy coming into play. Fair play to Tim for having fun with his money while he's still young. He made it, so how he spends it is his business. Borrowing a car to put the miles on was also a smart move in my opinion, rather than put them on one of his own, and devalue them. So, guys; if you don't like him then don't watch, simple!

so Shmee, the plane u saw is an monument in the memory of a pilot that during his training he had some tehnical problems and so he imediatley ejected his copilot and he had to choose: he ejects himself but the plane destroyes the viliage (where the plane statue is) or, he cand save the viligers but he would have to sacrifice himself...he choosed the second option abd saved a whole viliage.
I still have the videos with you when you guys arrived in Bucharest. That was awesome

Gumball is certainly more than driving, but after 5 days on busy motorways, this edition was a bit short in driving cars. Anyway, you all seem very happy and that's what matters. (and you made lots of people happy, which is even cooler)
Finally some real Driving. This was certainly the best day; What Gumballs actually about.

To be fair, I don't know how much "real" Gumball is left nowadays. Somewhere at 15:55 Shmee is quoting so called Gumbal Legend Kim Shmitz aka Kim Dotcom. Here on UA-cam there are still some videos left from round about 2005 when Gumball was still some kind of real street race.
+BeMoto haha I still have the Mischief 3000 DVD from one of the original Gumball's back in 2002 I think where they went from NYC to California, passing through Nashville and Memphis. I was pissed when I first watched it because I was living in Nashville at the time when it happened, and could have gone out to the Opryland Hotel to see all the cars, but I didn't know it was happening at the time. That was before social media of any kind even existed.
