and with all due respect to Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr and anyone else who people might think was the best.... Mario was the best.. it's not even close. In french you'd say he's le mieux which directly translates to english as "the best"
As much as Gretzky and Jordan are paired with each other, Lemieux was the Jordan of the NHL. Both had careers of undeniable greatness that left you wondering what if they hadn’t had so much time away from the game at the peak of their careers. In a draft, you’d be hard pressed to pick anyone for your team before Jordan, even though there are more accomplished players with points and championships. Same for Lemieux.
They also started the same year, 1984. Both won their first scoring championship (1988), first regular season MVP (1988), first championship (1991) and first playoff MVP (1991) in the same seasons. After 1991, they met up at a golf course and they both were going through something that only the other would know which was the relief they felt at being known as scoring champions who couldn’t win championships.
That Islanders upset over the Penguins is one of the biggest of all time in my opinion. Not only did the Pens have ALL THE MOMENTUM ON THE PLANET, with the miraculous Mario return.. They were ALSO the 2 time defending champions, going for a Three-Peat. *AND*, the Isles were without Turgeon due to the Dale Hunter cheap shot! *HOW DID THEY WIN?*
Live in the burgh and went to tons of games to watch Lemieux. Greatest I’ve ever seen.
gretz was unreal, but mario is the true GOAT
Best player ever!

Mario Lemieux is the most talented player I've ever seen. Many agree, including the great Bobby Orr. And Orr saw Gretzky and Howe play.
Le Magnifique
The greatest hockey player of all time not close
Definitely

Scotty Bowman ended up coaching him after Badger Bob passed
Gretzky was the "Great One" but Lemieux was "The Best," literally!
If they had replay then that would of been offsides & no goal
Any more TSN stuff?
