    I had the pleasure to own the exact colour bike (305) the belt drive is amazing and delivers a great ride!!
    This 😢makes me want to own one again!

      A weird coincidence is that someone who eventually came to own this very bike found my videos and I ended up chatting to him a while back. And then I saw it up for sale again locally in the recent past!

    also, extend the handlebars by welding solid bar to the end of the existing bars this gives you bar end wieghts at the same time and get some longer mirrors so you can see past your elbows, i came across a fork brace on ebay it makes one hell of an improvement

    Thanks for the video. I just picked up one of these in Canada. The bike ran quite rough until it warmed up while I was at the previous owners place. Once I got it home I pulled the air filters (2) and it looks like they were the original ones 🤦‍♀️. A 1 inch section missing on one of them and when I pulled them out they virtually disintegrated. Lol. Cut some new ones, oiled them up and voila this bike runs amazing now! No starting issues. My 1987 seems to ride smooth and hopefully won’t need a new shock. Congrats you got through this hurdle and hopefully you’ll get to ride it for some time before anything else happens. I’ll be having my bike go through an inspection to bring it into my province and hope they don’t find anything. Good to have your videos for some reference points. Things to get accomplished yet when parts arrive are oil change (including the oil pick up screen clean out), new spark plugs and eventually new tires as well. Cheers mate!

      Thanks for your comment, and great to hear about your air filter. I haven’t even checked mine as it totally slipped my mind. I know what I’m doing tomorrow! Glad your bike is doing well, happy riding :)

      Passed it’s inspection with flying colours 👍. New rear tire complete ✔️. Registration and insurance deeming me ready to hit the road today. Felt so good 😊. I must tell you about the oil pick up screen which I checked before my inspection 🧐. Have you heard about the issue with these things?

    If the shock was seized you would know immediately, i think these mechanics were either taking the piss or being difficult.
    Lots of garages don't want you buying/bringing in your own parts, some will probably either tell you no or make up some reason why you can't use the parts, so that they can buy you ones in and get some more money that way...

      Yeah...I think back to that whole saga and wonder what I was even thinking paying so much to get the shocker replaced. We live and learn...!

      @@thomascharnock they can be pretty good at putting people on the spot. Im lucky my 85' B2 that i paid £406 for after fixing some minor problems is running and riding at 100%! just some cosmetic things to do.

    yss shock for gpz500 fits and it works great also chain conversion is doable

  • @RockDinosaur695

    It's a good investment, that shock will last you forever if you look after it, it's a job done, quality shock which you can now forget about. I wouldn't bother with the original exhausts the downpipes are not the best quality, stick with your motad system. Ride safe 👍

    • @thomascharnock
      @thomascharnock  2 роки тому

      Cheers Andy. Yeah the stock exhausts all seem to be in pretty poor condition so that says a lot really. 👍

    At least you got the work done Tom and hopefully got a refund off Ebay for the fake bill of goods you were sold

    • @thomascharnock
      @thomascharnock  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks mate. Unfortunately not, the seller stated no refunds and by the time I found out the shocker was a dud, about 2 weeks had passed. Oh well. We live and learn.

      I didn't mate - I sole the bike not long after, sadly and got the Inazuma as it wasn't really fair to keep using it as a commuter
