This is the highest rank I've been on tank in a long time, so the pressure was on.

I think my favorite is when they catch on that I'm eating every firestrike so they try to throw it to the side and I still snap around and eat it after it's basically gone by me.
Just wait for the dva to use her matrix and throw it right after boom no can eat now wahhaha. I do it on ana all the time with the nadeski. SO suck it dva jkjk lolol

i think its because she is using her thrusters? Never really seen that sort of interaction before so I'm not sure if that's how it works but its my best guess.

Yapping time - Background, things I learned, and at the end some side notes. And for sanity's sake I'll split it into different comments:
I've submitted many a game over my time as a part of Emongg's community, so when I finally saw this game in the stream vod a week or so ago I was very excited! To give some extra background, I was in a 5 stack. The match range was Bronze 1 to Gold 5, so at least on my team I was the highest ranked player. I've played with three of them countless times over the past few months, and I'm confident they'll all climb fast! All the compliments for them here are well deserved. They all encouraged me to submit this game, and I was very happy to since it was one of my longest ever with a lot of career bests!
Now, I was under no delusion that this was an ego vod - I thought it was pretty average/okay gameplay on my part. To cut to the chase briefly - "well, we won, and sometimes it was workin!" was far from my mindset, before or after watching this review. I was and still am here to absorb advice, not to scoff at it! I came into this ready to get roasted for the greedy remechs, and I was honestly expecting to hear that my DM management is lacking. The latter is a problem I've been aware of for a while, but it seems like my focus on improving that the past few months has actually paid off! The remech greed I knew was a problem too, and I had already started to dial them back before this submission. It's high time I accept I'm not in bronze games anymore to pull them off, so back to quick play those attempts shall go, cold turkey.
As for side notes: Editors, ily for the vine boom sound effect for the progression level 1000. I'm very happy I included that in the description now lmao. Trying to rescue-taxi my Mercy at 3:00 was probably the most competent thing I did that whole match - I thought I messed up when they didn't come through the balcony with me, but iirc they went around the long way on purpose and it was a smarter move. We're mostly not gonna talk about the remechs, BUT after my fumbled bomb at 17:40 (notice the double take?) I wanna point out that Weaver dodged it but simultaneously pulled his Genji into it lmao. The Mauga swap was 100% a result of me being completely indecisive whether they'd go Rein or Zar, and picking someone who'd potentially do well against either one. And last but not least, I was very ready for the dpi comments and they were all funny to see. I'm in a perpetual struggle of wanting it lower so I can aim better, but still keeping it high-ish for maneuverability. It's an ongoing process!

The Mauga swap at the end of the game ended up being a huge brain play when the enemy tank counterswapped Zarya expecting a Dva
Eh it was more the Bastion and Sombra doing anything that really made Zarya a terrible choice
Exactly, at that point I put both my brain cells to full capacity thinking of the best compromise pick to counter Rein OR Zarya. Emphasis on Zarya, given the previous round, and it turned out to be the right call!
This tank player probably has "Go big or go home" tattooed on their face.
Also with the 3000 dpi / 30 sensitivity settings I was really looking forward to the pauses to get a break from the wasted movement, but sadly Emongg had to do the jiggle movement when showcasing to where to position. I understand why Emongg does it, it's just my eyes needed a break from the movement of this tank's high sensitivity setting. I saw chat mention a steering wheel I would add a Gyro steering wheel on maxed out sensitivity.
IT WAS YOU WHO TOLD ALL THE SIGMAS TO SOLO ULT ME! As a life main I've been struggling against that.

I finished my placement matches and got plat 5 on tank. Honestly it felt quite good, since it’s the first time I’ve played comp.

Legit question, when you have a tank or two DPS who keep staggering themselves and overextending. What should you do as a support?
I used to try and keep good positioning and just let them die and try to keep the rest of my team up, but that resulted in so many 4v5s that it was hard to overcome and get the W. So lately I’ve started just going in with the feeder and trying to at least keep them alive long enough to possibly trade and then I get out.
This works sometimes but other times we both get melted and then your team flames you for feeding, which we totally are doing.
It just seems like a lose lose when you have a feeder, and now that I get Gold people in my Diamond games, I deal with more feeders than ever before.
I try to spam the "Group Up" or "Fallback" commands. I like playing on voice coms, so I try to nicely ask them to not stagger.
Can't really do much if they refuse to stop after that.
Those same people will rant about where is my team hur dur. You can't fix stupid. If spamming group up doesn't work Ill generally type GO AS 5 in chat, or shoot at them constantly whenever they run off alone until they turn around and see noone is near them.
Some people just cant understand that contesting for 5 seconds and dying is much worse than waiting 20 seconds and contesting with 4 other people.
here are some scattered thoughts about this.
something that will help a lot is learning to identify good feeding versus bad feeding. good feeding is aggressive plays that will be made successful by you being willing to invest resources. bad feeding is going in when there is absolutely zero chance of success.
is it a 3v5 and your rein pins in? try going in with them. it's a risky play because you're down two, but strategic investment of support resources could be the difference between your rein going back to spawn and your rein hitting the biggest shatter of their life and killing five.
is your rein pinning into the enemy team when it's a 2v5 and you don't have an ult and your rein has been doing this the whole game and dying every time? let rein pass into the afterlife and wait for your other teammates and then take the 4v5. a 4v5 is extremely winnable especially if your team uses a couple of ults.
also, sometimes what seems like feeding or bad positioning to you actually isn't feeding or bad positioning. your soldier going on a flank can absolutely be the right move even though they're far away from the team. you or the other support should go with them and increase the likelihood of their play being successful.
that's a very big point, btw. if the team ever splits up, ideally each group has a support with them so there is healing and utility with everyone. healing division of labor is a huge aspect to playing support that people don't often talk about. each hero will be responsible for certain teammates. if you're on zen and you have a tracer, tracer will typically be your default orb target. if you're on Moira, the tank is your default responsibility and you help with the dps as needed. if you're on Mercy, you keep the dps alive and enable them and heal the tank as needed. and so on. yes this can change depending on who your other support is and their play style. it never hurts to ask your other support if they tend to focus more on dps or healing AND make sure to clarify you are okay with either play style, you're just asking so you know what you need to do. but again be flexible. you might have to focus on someone else if you notice they're consistently not getting healed or supported by your other support.
your job is to support your team by increasing the chance that their plays are successful. it's important to be flexible. try supporting the scuffed, dumb plays. teamwork can turn a scuffed, dumb play into a successful one. but also learn to identify when it's not working and adjust accordingly.
it's not one or the other. don't think rigidly or try to follow some set of rules. don't try to play perfectly. your games will be scuffed. focus on the team you're playing with and the plays they're making, not the team you wish you were playing with or the plays you think they should make.

Some people are just unlucky, but some people will just never climb, like level 1000? I play maybe 2 competitive games a day and I’ve always been in Diamond. Like I will most likely never get out of Diamond unless I start sweating and talking in team chat
I feel bad for the support and dps that have to play with tanks like this in gold and ultimately end up losing games because of it

You cannot petal the center of the ultimate and cancel it. If you are elevated on petal the ult will not get you, but placing petal in the center of the ult does not end flux. This is Lucio speedboosts kart all over again 😭

they should have swapped dva, dva against zarya isnt great. to get value you would have to either play long range or just dive anything that isnt the zarya and hope you dm grav which wont happen most of the time.
if you dont want to be locked in counterswapping with enemy tank then go something you can use well but isnt hard countered by zarya. against zarya i just go rein
