How to do a funded PhD in Europe - MSCA Fellows from ASEAN share tips & advice

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) offer funding for PhD students to study across Europe. They are part of the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 research funding scheme and are the main EU programme for doctoral training. MSCA funding for PhD students is offered within partnerships of research actors called Innovative Training Networks (ITN) or MSCA Cofund schemes.
MSCA funding is open to PhD students of all disciplines, irrespective of nationality, for up to four years. It covers full costs of accommodation and travel, as well as providing a monthly living allowance.
This 1 hour webinar explains the opportunities to carry out doctoral training in Europe in a MSCA ITN or COFUND programme. Three MSCA Fellows from ASEAN share their experience, tips & advice:
- Dr Wicak Ananduta, post-doctoral researcher at the Delft Center for Systems and Control (DCSC) at TU Delft in the Netherlands
- Ms Vanessa Xavier, final year PhD student in the area of molecular mechanisms at the University of Geneva in Switzerland
Ms Gladys Langi, PhD candidate at the Medical University of Bialystok, Poland

Hello. I want to ask a question about the doctorate networks of MCSA. If someone wants to apply as a phd candidate, does the age matter?Are there any restrictions of age?

Hi Vasilis, each MSCA doctoral network will specify the eligibility criteria for the positions they offer. In general though, there is no age limit.
