- Olten is a large city in Switzerland and has a beautiful old town. Olten lies on the Aare river and is the largest town in the canton of Solothurn.
The city is an important railway junction in Switzerland and a railway town between the major cities of Zurich, Basel and Bern.
Olten was already an important settlement in Roman times with a bridge over the Aare. The old wooden bridge was first mentioned in 1295 and was damaged several times over the course of time by fires and floods.
Olten's town tower is the town's landmark and reaches a height of 42 metres and used to be a church tower. After the demolition of the dilapidated church in 1844, the tower was left standing. Sali Dina! Yes, the old town of Olten is beautiful. The wooden brige is a bit wider than the pedestrian bridges in Lucerne.
