The Beaulieu 4008 was the finest Super 8 camera ever made by FAR. I believe it would accept the 200 foot Kodak cartridge of Ektachrome or color negative film too. The optics were superb, an Anguinue (sp?) zoom lens. It's bigger brother, the super 16 Beaulieu which shot full-frame 7x16 format "Cinemascope" 16mm (horizontally running film) I used and it was used for several theatrical release movies enlarged to 35mm format prior to the Steady-Cam(tm) introduction.
Although I never had the chance to own a ZM4, I was able to use one for a day, and it was a delight. I found it very intuitive - though to be fair, I had been using my Beaulieu R18 and 6006S. Unlike some people, I also found the grip to work just fine. By far the most amazing aspect was the high frame rate of 80fps (!) the highest of any Super or Single-8 camera as far as I know. Added to that, I staged a shot where the character is running in a circle, and I ramped the camera through the entire 2 to 80 frames per second, and let the camera’s automatic exposure deal with it! It did a very nice job, about 90% spot-on, a small amount of lag, that literally no one saw in the final results. Very sadly, I don’t have that footage, or if I do, its in among the many boxes of S8 and 16 cans, reels and boxes from my film school years in the 80’s.
Really cool! I bought a very cheap beat up version that needs a lot of service and lubrication and the dials on it are mostly stuck I do wish you had shown how you opened and closed the lens back, because the video cuts that part out for some reason.

Don’t think this one accepted 200’ mags but I believe some of the newer ones did.

Alas, cewertainly didn’t accept the short-lived 200ft cartridges…
