There's a possibility that Baldwin IV's involvement in the Battle of Montgisard caused injuries that would cause his leprosy to rapidly worsen. Essentially, he unknowingly sacrificed his long term health to put an end to Salah ad-Din's invasion.
He saved Jerusalem and the Holy Land from the Sarracen threat .The greatest Crusading king .If only he had lived longer , he could have defeated Salah ah-Din and taken Egypt .

I read once that Baldwin was probably not suffering from leprosy, that he probably had Elephant's Man Disease. The reasoning was that he would have been exiled because of the contagious nature of the disease. He also didn't exhibit some of the more gruesome symptoms of leprosy.
Baldwin's leprosy was confirmed in chronicles, such as Ernoul: "he had no eyes, nor nose, nor fingers on his hands." Numbness and crippling was widely noted. That's leprosy, not "elephant man disease." (This could be mistaken as leprosy was known as "elephantiasi.")

God uses the humble to shame the proud.
So how did Balwdin contract leprosy? Anybody have any recording how? Imagine being in his shoes, having to rule a kingdom in the middle of the crusades, while being a king stricken with leprosy. No way to have a queen and have kids, knowing youre deteriorating by the day, and knowing your life will end soon... What a stud, to have pulled off what he did during his reign and time on Earth. Gawd I wish I had a time machine.
I think he could not have done half of what he did without his leprosy. For some it was a curse but for him it was his blessing
There is probably a cruel ironic truth in what you say.
Times when both Nations(Christians and Muslims) had leaders with honor pride and respect
Honestly, I feel like the world would be a very different place today, if Baldwin didn't have leprosy.
Nahhhh
Butterfly effect
There's a possibility that Baldwin IV's involvement in the Battle of Montgisard caused injuries that would cause his leprosy to rapidly worsen. Essentially, he unknowingly sacrificed his long term health to put an end to Salah ad-Din's invasion.
He saved Jerusalem and the Holy Land from the Sarracen threat .The greatest Crusading king .If only he had lived longer , he could have defeated Salah ah-Din and taken Egypt .
But I think without the leprosy hanging over his fate, he won't develop the focus needed to achieve the best form of himself. Though in the end, everything is just a what ifs
I WANTED KNOW MORE OF THE " LEPER KING ! " CUZ I AM MAKING A NOSE GUARD / SHIELD AND EPIPHANY ! ! A SILVER LIKE KING BALDWIN IV....SO HE'S STILL LOOKING OUT FOR US CHRISTIANS... YOU FOLK ARE DOING A GREAT SERVICE ! ! +++
He was noble king no doubt even Salahuddin called him .
If he lived 20 more years then there will history of Islamic ending...

@Gerrard Jrie if
i dig your presentation style and directness of information.
Awesome video...thanks!
It’s so sad that many of the best kings had the worst afflictions or died of things like dysentery or pneumonia
Greetings from Brazil!
Can you post the text of your videos?
It's more easy to I translate.
I can't understand just listening. Sorry.
God bless you and your subscribers.
História Contada
I sympathize with you. I can read a lot of Portuguese (Brasilian) but find it very difficult to understand people speaking the language.
@Hawkeye Airwolf Yes, I know. It's a good idea! :) But... I want the text of each video, not a book about all history, you understand me now? (Or the videos from this channel are LITERALLY the same thing of the book?).
If I have the text of each video, I can translate to Portuguese.
Ah... Yes, you helped me! ;)

Imagine this guy living to see 30.
I think the lifespan back then was very low. 30 was the average life expectancy
