You'll never see singers like this anymore. He was a genius. Too bad mental health, drugs and alcohol take a toll on the good ones. I hate living in the new age. Born in 86, grew up on all this. Music today stinks.
I played a Day On The Green , Oakland Coliseum May of 1979 a 3 day concert Boston also played to 110,000 people. I met Brad a few times & he didn’t do drugs or anything else. As they say , he was the nicest guy in Rock N Roll!
I so agree with you, the music today is shit, sorry most of it is. Born in ‘64, and feel so blessed to have been born then. The 70’s are my fave decade music wise.
Beautiful. Incredible voice. This version is a lot different. I like the ending on this one better, though, with Delp singing “no moreee” and Scholz shredding the riff that was repeated. I don’t know how to put it well, but it sounds very emotional, and way better than the current song’s ending. Both are incredible though.
In 1976, I was 11 years old and received my first guitar. Boston was and always will be an inspiration to me. In the 90's, my older brother passed on a chance to play bass with Boston because of a girlfriend. Currently, I am working on an acoustic version of this song. It's hard to find other musicians who have enough passion for this song to do it justice. Brad's voice was incredible, and we were blessed to live in these times.
I can remember sitting outside of the venue they played at with my dad as a little kid. It broke my heart that we lost such a talented and well loved brilliant musician like brad. This is my favorite song ever hope your up in heaven rocking out! Rip to one the greatest singers of the 70s and 80s
Incredible to hear Delps voice at its peak. Very cool to hear this ballad still being tweaked with different lyrics and a chord change or two. Not quite tightened up yet but still gorgeous and so new.
@@christinamclachlan8282 Hitch A Ride is good as well as so many others. Dreams, from Barry's solo album is great too. And Brad wailing at the end of Nothing To Lose is awesome as well.
He will always be the man for me today, tomorrow and forever cause he is eternal and the love he left for me and to the rest of people who love him is immortal. I miss you my angel
Still remember assembling my crystal radio kit when I was 10 years old in 1977 and Boston came across my single earpiece WERC AM 960 in Birmingham, as clear as a bell. Been listening ever since...these recordings transcend time and space.
This is a very different sounding version of what was ultimately recorded. I enjoyed hearing it and feel like I have another “new” Boston song to savor. I’m sorry this band didn’t enjoy longevity and stay on the same path they begun on. That being said they are solidly a top 5 favorite band of mine. It’s so sad that Brad Delp took his life. What a fabulous voice he was blessed with.
Thanks for posting. I never heard this performance before. Brad's voice was so beautiful. I remember the first time I heard his voice on the radio. It was summer. I was four years old and new to the US. I stopped what I was doing and listened. Even my parents couldn't make me do that! RIP Brad Delp.
Many 70s era bands used to do this. They would write new songs on the road and sneak them into the set. Record, review and analyze to make the arrangements stronger. Perhaps a verse is too long or a chorus too short. RUSH routinely did mini-tours of 5 to 10 concerts to "shakeout the kinks" of new material before they recorded them. Van Halen did this on their first tour. It's harder to do this now because of automation with sound and lighting. Plus, modern audiences are more jaded and impatient with songs they don't know.
OMG....I've never heard this version before. I like it and the ending is better (imo) than the studio version. Saw them live in Toronto at the Maple Leaf Gardens. They had a phenominal sound. Don't look back was just released, they played both albums. They reproduced the exact sound live as was on the albums. It was my very first concert. Great memory.
I seen boston with the outlaws at this show there sound was different at the same time badass and evertime they came even close to Los angeles i never missed a show too bad all the indifferences between the band later on.they were great in the 70's and 80's
What a cool version of this song! I remember hearing a live version of this track on a Chicago FM station in 1977 and still having to wait another year until Don't Look Back was released! And yes, Brad was awesome! What a huge loss! Rest in peace my friend and thanks for all your great works!🎵🎤🎶
I'm pretty sure this was the show that was recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour and the last time I checked you can get the CD from Wolfgang's Vault online!!!
Wow. This was before this song even came out on the Don't Look Album. It was probably before they had finalized the song for the album as there are subtle changes here and there.
The evolution of a song is very interesting. I've always been intrigued by demos & early live recordings such as this one. Kicking off the studio arrangement of this one with a piano was an immeasurably great decision but it's cool to hear the original concept here. 💪🏻 I've written & recorded a few songs myself and it's equally interesting to listen to the original "just get something on tape" recordings & compare them to the finished products. 👍🏻 🇺🇸
I saw them in concert several times. Brad has one of the best voices ever. Steve Perry is great but Brad is way way better. They actually sounded better live than their album
Wow!!! This quality is incredible! This had to be originally recorded by Mike "The Mic" Millard. Luiz, do you know who recorded the original recording?
@@MrTrailerman2I agree. I also like it better in this key. I like this version or if they did the same arrangement as the studio version but in the key of D.
I love Boston. But I must say, this is a good sample why thy didn't play live much. Guitars out of tune, and vocals from this awesome vocalist are still off pitch a bit.
I was in the audience when they recorded this. I loved this song from that very moment. Brad had the voice of an angel. Beautiful.
You were so lucky. ❤
The greatest voice of our time,God bless this man,Brad delp American treasure
One of the single greatest male vocal performances of all time.
Brad was such a talent , I'm older now (59) this song takes me back to my teen years in the late 70's & early 80's ....
You'll never see singers like this anymore. He was a genius. Too bad mental health, drugs and alcohol take a toll on the good ones. I hate living in the new age. Born in 86, grew up on all this. Music today stinks.
Brad was one of the very few that didn't do drugs at all, I got to smoke a joint with the original drummer Sib but Brad didn't ever partake
Born in 1965. Love Brad Delp
Sorry I wrote that.

When Brad died he took so many of us with him. There's an emptiness inside to this day.
I know what you mean, big time.
I agree. It's still hard to deal with his loss.
Love his voice gives me chills love this song my all time favorite song of Boston ,,,
So great to just hear a mans voice without the 2 tracking.
He still is the BEST!
Thanks for posting this tune. ALWAYS been one of my favorites

My heart still aches of his loss💔 Brad was the best, strongest singer of all times! RIP Sweet Darlin' 💙
Cool to hear the song while it was still in what can be described as a demo phase.
Exactly. Still like the finished product better, but this is great, especially since Tom was known to keep things under wraps.

GOLD. BRAD FREAKING DELP. RIP. ENOUGH SAID. VERY NICE RENDITION. KIND OF BLUESY.
Great band, great chemistry and unique sound

I don’t live in USA but I heard they did not played live too much. I could be mistaken.
The lyrics and the arrangement of the song were still under construction when the choice was made to let Brad kind of adlib the lines for this gig.
Was there 😍 So Cal HS Class of 1975
One of the greatest bands of the 70s man I miss those days and years so much where hear their music it brings back good memories late great 70s 👍👍✊✊
Thanks for sharing this Bro. Without a doubt one of Top-5 voices of rock

His voice and Paul Rodgers to me are the best front men's voices and Steve Perry the top three in my book ,,,
Glad they lowered it to “C”. Pretty cool to hear a song still in progress before it comes out.
I agree. The key change really helped make the finished song the underrated masterpiece that it is

such a perfect voice....Brad you are so loved and missed. Such a very sexy voice I always thought.
Beautiful song
What a voice!
An early version of this epic song, not fully worked out yet, but anyway great!
That voice.

Brad Delp a beautiful soul voice 😢

What a wonderful song.

Increíble grupo y Brad Delp una de las mejores voces del rock...

♥️
It has an ending with a flavor of Bohemian Rhapsody to it. Although the official recording does not have the cymbal sound at the end.

Right!!! It’s great to hear it evolve
Agree, these are neat to hear. They sure did put a nice polish on it with the studio version. IMHO, their best song.
I saw them in concert several times. Brad has one of the best voices ever. Steve Perry is great but Brad is way way better. They actually sounded better live than their album
Brad is a legend forever engraved in rock and roll history, but let’s not get carried away.
Tom Scholz wrote most of the stuff, but gets not always the credits he deserves. Boston was more than just Brad Delph.
@@abelcano3723 Brad is great, but Steve Perry is The Voice.

A great music, very beatiful, the milkkkkkkkkk
Brad delp is a legend.
I hear a little Uriah Heap in this great song.

This show was for King Biscuit Flower Hour. More details below. tommygun-video.myshopify.com/products/boston
Tom's lead sounds a lot like a Brian May lead.
Best version 👍
Tom Scholtz thank you father of the xl100
this version not as good as the latter recorded versions, but still good

This is how new bands sound in the beginning. . The ones that don’t quit become legendary and good
