  • From North Cameroon to Chad, from the land of the ancient elephants to the dunes of Kanem, this film is a non-stop journey in the form of a logbook, through a little known, almost forbidden land that is a wealth of astonishing countryside and unusual people. The Kapsiki villages hanging off the side of volcanic peaks, our itinerary of contrast and adventure continues towards the wildlife reserves of Waza then on to N’Djaména and the Chari River. Finally we arrive at the banks of Lake Chad with its fishermen and its polders in the middle of the desert. And to finish, the oasis which borders the small town of Mao, in the province of Kanem.

    Thank you for this video. I like to see how other people live. These people are so in tune and living in harmony with their environment, we should all have this basic skill. I'm glad to see that they are still eating their nutritious indigenous crops of sourgum, maize, etc, and not the GMO over=ptocessed junk foods that are giving so many people here in the US diabetes, obesity and other diseases. The landscapes are beautiful too. Very interesting.

    • @PAULLONDEN
      @PAULLONDEN 4 роки тому +2

      Ok ....but everybody deserves respect , not just because you're old..... That's another one of Africa's stereo types , that it's "rare to live long there" ....Some people manage to live long in adverse situations because they had the right genes , or were lucky.... This particular fascinating old man had countless wives that cared for him....No surprise that most of *them* are dead.....'

      Because they are western production then it has to be a wrong narrative? In fact I have learnt more about my continent from western documentary. If you have a different story why not consult a film producer in your country or come up with a proposal to a TV station for funding? The truth is Africa is grossly underdeveloped and our people are suffering and if this kind of documentary can highlight some of our shortcomings maybe we all can devise a future plan for improvement?.

      Sure......such a whiner......just stated a few times how he experienced this journey ,which was positive for the most part....Ofcourse we have to be political correct and not state a few negative things we might encounter....We are ofcourse dealing with sensitive Africa here , where many from the west have a guilt complex about.....as if *that* will help this continent.

    Thanks for posting Renauld Jean-Thomas! Question: around 16:56 toolmaking. There is an important part missing. Right? The toolmaker put clay around the metal. Burns it and remove the burned clay. This looks stupid. The background report does not fit to the scenes. Or have I misunderstood something? By the way. I think those crafts are very important to document. These knowledge which still exist shows how to do complex things just with materials from soil and wood and fire. To the audience: would you know how to make it by yourself?
