Robin Hobb BELONGS on the same level as George R R Martin, Joe Abercrombie etc. When it comes to the upper echelon of epic fantasy authors but I think she has become so underrated because she’s really the only female in that space. She’s a big hero of mine! Can’t wait to see what you think of Liveship Traders as I am INVESTED in these book series (I’m currently half way through the 3rd series Tawny Man)
I read this series like 3 yrs ago and I think about it all the time, but even now ive neeeeever had a villain infuruate me more than the main villain in the farseer trilogy. if I could meet a fictional character it would be him just so I could fight him
I just finished the Farseer Trilogy and decided to read the Liveship Traders next, but it's a tough decision, I'm far too attached to Fitz and his gang 😭 I was too very tempted to skip to the Tawny Man trilogy... Your video makes the parting with this first series a little easier. And you have such a warm and authentic energy, I really enjoy listening to you talk so enthousiastically about these books 😊 Keep on sharing
I was the exact same way. And that feeling g never leaves you - tbh. BUT! When you get to the point where you’re seeing the joint of the trilogies- you are PSYCHED!! Because it is so very cool. I’m in the middle of Ship of Destiny (3rd book in Liveship Tri) and the minute I thought I was comfortable with the new characters-the whole connection between the two trilogies just makes you want to devour every page, get all the details and be so there for it all once Tawny tri begins. It’s like you know you have a final, and you can get alll the answers for it - you just have to go through an enjoyable journey to get 100% on a hard-earned grade. (I just finished my last final, so forgive the analogy 😂) ❤️✌🏻
Great review....but Nighteyes (Nightshade made me laugh each time). Lol. I'm in the last book of the Tawny Man trilogy. Also I suggest reading the Willful Princess and the Piebald Prince novella before Tawny Man.
I don't know what it is about this deep dive into the series (that I haven't read yet) but I love it! I love this kind of discussion, I will definitely check it out!
I mean you’re not wrong…Molly has serious daddy issues!!! I’m so happy you’re loving this series though! It’s my absolute fave of all time, and I can’t wait to see your thoughts on Liveships 😊
Yes thank you for making a non spoiler and spoiler section! I miss when people used to do that more often! This has been on my tbr but I have put it off because I heard it's really violent, but when I get to it I will for sure come back and watch the spoiler section!
thank you for appearing in my timeline out of nowhere.. finish faseer trilogy now on the third book of liveship trilogy.. this is a new genre for me so yeahhh.. patience and ketricken are also my fave!!
I didnt love the pacing of books three, but I support the ending. It’s realistic. What’s amazing about Hobb’s writing of Fitz is that it reflects life with such tragic accuracy. His decisions, the shape his life takes, it’s so believable. More realistic than allegorical, even though the world is so fantastic and the magic allegorical. (Spoilers below) I’m actually glad Molly and Burrich get together, I didn’t think of him as being that old. There’s an age difference, but the dynamic they had felt planted to me.
I just finished the Farseer trilogy based on your recommendations alone. I don't think I can recover. How dare you do this to me, but also I owe you my life.
Oh man, I loved the first two trilogies but got so sad during the third one that I put the series down and haven’t picked it up again yet. Maybe I should. But talking about characters you want to slap, MALTA!!! I found her so frustrating at first and by the end of the series I loved her so much. Hope you have a great time with the Liveship trilogy
AAAA YESSS REALM OF THE ELDERLINGS LOVE ☺️ im reading liveship traders and it’s even better somehow planning on starting the mad ship in march and i’m so excited
SPOILER WARNING FOR THE FARSEER TRILOGY: molly and burrich together makes no fucking sense and i hate it so much ALSO starling was so fucking irritating imo and yesss fitz and fool are endgame it’s cannon idc idc
So glad to hear you loved this! I'd been sort of wanting to get into this whole world for a while, but like, those books are all huge and there's like 162 of them in the overall series and I was intimidated, but a couple days ago I finally got the first one from the library. Now I have more motivation to start reading it!
I've been aware of this series for a while but because of the age of the books I always suspected people were just nostalgic.....guess I'll give them a try....
Have you ever thought to read any tamora pierce?? The Song of the Lioness, Protector of the Small, and Immortals quartets are just 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 *chef's kiss* I think it might be similar to this trilogy and robin hobb's world with the specific fantasy vibe and the protagonists' character arcs from childhood to adulthood. I will recommend tamora's books until the day i die.
I subscribed so fast. I am convinced and will definitely read this series. I had a nice surprise when I realized that I already have the Assassins Apprentice 😃 yes I am so pumped
The beginning of my favourite book series of all time. All 16 books are so amazing and I love them with my whole heart. That you post abou this series now, about two week after I finished The Song of Achilles and absolutely loved it. There are only 16 novels, 1 novella and 3 stories in a short story collection. But there's another trilogy by Robin Hobb outside of this world and several books she's written under the pen name Megan Lindholm.
Maybe after i watch this video it will motivate me to finish the assassin's quest, i really liked the first 2 books, but the last book was really frustrating me bc fitz was thinking too much and doing too little so i put it on hold. Also, i agree, the writing is excellent like that's the only valid way to write fantasy!! 12:12 - 12:32 😭 😭 😭 😭 pls about the endings, i felt that every book had a bit of a rushed ending that read more like an epilogue. I remember being so confused when book 1 ended, bc i started reading book 2 as soon as i finished book 1 and what had been explained in 5 pages , took book 2 around 100 pages to tell and it seemed like it would change the ending of the previous book.
Narrr same haha but also i think just pushing through it really helped me; plus nighteyes helped sm, literally carried and ran so fitz could crawl and walk...haha
Dude I forgot all about these books! Thanks for re-introducing me to them! As a kid I thought they were more "adult" books so cleared off them for a bit...until I forgot about them lol. Also your bloopers actually give me life 😩🤟❤
my grandpa has had one of the books from this series on our coffee table for like months and everytime i see it im like i shld read that omg kgjdh ill definitely pick it up sooner now!!
Damn you Elias! I just finished reading the first book, because I saw this video a while back, and now I'm trying to skip work so I can finish the whole trilogy 😢😢😢😢
I am about halfway through Assassin’s Quest and losing steam because it’s pretty slow right now, but this gave me the motivation to keep going! And I have Ship of Magic waiting for me on the shelf once I’m done!!
I haven't even started watching this video yet but I SCREAMED when I saw both the thumbnail and title. My favourite fantasy books eVER!! People need to stop sleeping on this trilogy and Robin Hobb aka the queen of high fantasy 💪🏻 aaaaa I'm so happy 🥺
I accidentally started with the Liveship Trader series not realizing it was part of a bigger world, and now I'm doubling back. And given what Hobb put those characters through, I'm already assuming this series will also cause me pain.
Don't worry, even though I'd recommend starting with Farseer, Liveships (especially the first book) doesn't give away any spoilers about the first series. It's why people recommend trying Liveship Traders to people who didn't click with Farseer. Only after Liveship Traders keeping a strict order becomes important. ❤️
omgg lol but im pretty sure the liveship traders don't spoil anything too heavy in the farseer books (just the ending slightly but nothing too in depth)
Thank you so much for doing this review. I cannot wait to read them now. Heard about them for years but never pulled the trigger. DEF will now (didn't watch spoilers although I wanna lol)!
Just brought this on Halloween sale. There's only first book translated so RIP😭😂 I discovered this back in April and decided not to buy but I couldn't resist lol
Coming back to this after reading this trilogy and before I go to the bookstore to buy the rest. I need to know why other people aren't screaming this from the rooftops
QUESTION: I'm already reading the Farseer Trilogy, I know it's the starting point, but which series should I read next? Is there a specific order? Do I get spoiled if I skip a series/trilogy? What's your advice? Thanks guys!
after the farseer trilogy i heard that you can move onto the next trilogy featuring fitz and the fool on their next arc several years later BUT the next published set is the liveship trader trilogy that features different characters and part of the neighboring kingdom with also differnt elemtns of magic, etc. i heard that you can skip it if you want but also heard its STRONGLY recommended that you don't since these characters will appear later on in the series and the next trilogy spoils what happens in the liveship trader trilogy. hope this helps!
I read the first 3 books when i was about 10 just because my brother had bought them but never got around to reading them. Until a few years ago I never knew Robin Hobb was a prolific author or that the series was well-loved, only that I enjoyed my reading expérience. I realise now that i had high standards for fantasy from an early age 😅 Now more and more people are talking about these books, they are even republished in paperback with a différent cover where I live, but your copy is much more beautiful !
The Fool is also my favorite - the middle trilogy is probably my favorite (Tawny Man) out of all of them, though I haven’t finished the final trilogy yet
I found it really important not to skip the Liveship Traders series because even thought I loved Fitz and the Fool and wanted to rush on with their storyline I found that spending time away from them made the return so much sweeter. There a time skip of 15 years between the Farseer and Tawny Man trilogy and the time I spent away from them made me feel as though I was greeting old friends after time apart. IDK man these characters just get me really emotional
I started Robin Hobb last year and i am done with 3 trilogy and 1 quartet. I only have last Trilogy left. And i love Fool , Nightsahade and their chemistry with Fitz so very much. These two characters are just so Marvellous and beautifully and deeply written 💜💜💜💜💜 Also talking about female characters, molly and starling were such an irritating characters. Starling was such unnecessary character i felt. She annoyed so much. Love patience and ketrikan😌😌😌 I didn't enjoy The Liveship trader trilogy . And Twanny man Trilogy is such a good series focusing so much on fool and Fitz and their relationship. You will love it. 😌😌😌😌
this!! i feel you with the female characters......i thought they would be portrayed as stronger and smarter counterparts to the male characters but instead they wre just there as supporting beacons or edgeways for them.....i didn't enjoy the ship of magic as i thought i would but still continuing on wit the books! :)
SPOILERS: Burrich/Molly was just so weird; Burrich was her ex-lovers father figure and behaves somewhat like her father did in terms of drinking and bull headedness. It's a creepy pairing to me. The Fool, Nighteyes, Kettricken, Patience and Lacey are my fave side characters. Kettricken and Patience are pretty Bamf, Nighteyes is life and I just want to hug the Fool close and protect the poor guy! And Fitz/Fool for the win! They are my RoTE OTP! Compared to Molly, the Fool is the better choice for Fitz; he knows about Fitz's true job for the Farseer line, he is extremely loyal to the Farseers and his friends, and will chide Fitz when it's deserved and won't be petty about it.
I've been putting off reading the second book for over a year because I've heard so many people complain about how slow and a waste of time a lot of the third book is 😬 I'll come back and watch the Spoiler section of this video one day.
This is Ya but I just had to recommend it. The Timekeeper trilogy by Tara Sim. It's amazing, with a unique twist on greek mythology and with a main character who is gay. It's set in an alternate late 1800's where the world depends on Clocktowers to keep time moving. The main character is a mechanic that repares the towers. I don't want to say more because then I would be spoiling it. The main characters name is Daniel and let me just say that his love is kind of forbidden... not in the insessed way.
This trilogy is also on my TBR as a brand new high-fantasy reader. Please also read Patrick Rothfuss' The Name of the Wind! I'd love to know what you think about it because I loved it! .^_^.
regan i just saw this. anyways before i forget: nighteyes is amazing. adult fitz needs therapy and jesus. the fool is the love of my life. verity is my daddy. malta fucking sucks ass. hate that lil child bitch. winrow god......needs to fast forward his development so i can stop reading about his holier-than-thou attitude. literally kyle and kennit are so annoying i hope a sea serpent eats these chads up. keffria needs to stop lowering herself to the whims of her daughter. or someone call child services bc malta about to be whisked off into an arrange marriage with an old dude 🤮
DAMN!!!! I'VE BEEN SAYING IT'S THE BEST FANTASY SERIES OF ALL TIME AND IT'S WAY TO UNDERAPPRECIATED FOR Y E A R S!! So I'm glad people are finding out about it, but I'm also sad that it's going to go mainstream and not be my special little thing anymore, haha! I'm glad you liked it!! There aren't any other books that gave me so many cathartic feelings as these 9 books... If you felt moved by the first trilogy, you will be DESTROYED by the second one, I swear, I don't think I ever cried as hard while reading a book (it's good, cathartic crying though!). Also I was sure that there were only 3 books about Fitz, so imagine how happy I was when I accidentally discovered that there are 6 more! *MINOR SPOILER ALERT* it also gets waaay more queer, way more yearning in the next books and I can't wait to find out what you think about it, because I have some thoughts (mostly about how well it's handled)! *END OF THE SPOILER* I only read the ones about Fitz (fun fact: the Polish translation is very different to the original, in Polish he's literally called "Bastard Rycerski" which means "Bastard Chivalrous") and I'm not sure if I will read the ones about Ships, but now that you said it's also nice... I might read them as well haha! Also, The Fool is also the love of MY life, so we might have to share them. Literally my favorite character EVER. My cishet friend told me that she had a huge crush on Fitz when we talked about the books and I was like. The Fool is right there and you chose FITZ??
All the love, very relatable ❤️😍. I highly recommend reading the other books in the World as well, they make it only more well rounded and as you might have noticed especially in the last trilogy, the characters from the other books play a big role in the overarching plot. Also, especially in Liveships there is a character who might seem familiar (and after Tawny Man you probably already know whom I'm speaking about)😘
So glad you enjoyed this trilogy! The next trilogy has brilliant female characters - they're the most complex and interesting ones and their journey is epic!
Spoilers for assasin quest (book 3) Im pretty sure burrich is still pretty young. Im doing this calculation from memory so bear with me. Molly is around 2 years older then fitz, so at the beginning of assasins apprentice she's 8. Burrich is around the same age as chivalry, and verity is prob around 2 years younger then chivalry since there is not really any mention of a great age difference. When verity was 17 he was allowed to join chivalry in the border disputes and 3 years later chivalry abdicated. That means tha chivalry ( and burrich) where 22 at the beginning of assassins apprentice. I believe molly is like 20 at the end of assassins quest, so burrich would be 34. Thats still a lot but fitz always talks about burrich like he's 50. Also there is in the beginning of book 3 mention of a 3th magic system: the scry. I think it's going to be something like looking in the future, or just looking in other places. (Don't spoil it I haven't read any of her other trilogys yet
interestinggggg!! i hope she dives into the magic system more into the later books! and burrich being young makes morrrreee sense to me now that he's with molly lmaooo but still i was like....???!! i do NOT see it lmaoooo ewww but now im like.....eh ok. sure.
hello, I am new here so idk if you've read the mirror visitor series, but it has a lot of similarities to the series you described here. The mirror visitor is one of my favorite series for the same reasons you described in this series, so maybe you'll like it if not im sorry lol
Just basing on the title and thumbnail, gotta tell ya, WAIT TILL YOU READ THE LAST TRILOGY IN THE REALM OF THE ELDERLINGS. Sorry for shouting, but I love this series, or series of series, so much
I’m sorry. But you keep saying Nightshade. It’s Nighteyes first of all. And Chade is a human being and a whole other character. Now, you may continue (but consider an edit. 😂 😉 Your energy is awesome!)
Robin Hobb BELONGS on the same level as George R R Martin, Joe Abercrombie etc. When it comes to the upper echelon of epic fantasy authors but I think she has become so underrated because she’s really the only female in that space. She’s a big hero of mine!
Can’t wait to see what you think of Liveship Traders as I am INVESTED in these book series (I’m currently half way through the 3rd series Tawny Man)
I read this series like 3 yrs ago and I think about it all the time, but even now ive neeeeever had a villain infuruate me more than the main villain in the farseer trilogy. if I could meet a fictional character it would be him just so I could fight him
Wait till you meet Robin Hobb's other villains. I know it's hard to believe but you gonna hate them even more😘
regal was definitely annoying haha
This is my favourite comment ever and I haven’t even started the trilogy yet 😂
YO ON GOD? Never expected this but I’m so hype, my favorite fantasy series! I hope you continue on to Liveships/Tawny Man!
i def will!
I just finished the Farseer Trilogy and decided to read the Liveship Traders next, but it's a tough decision, I'm far too attached to Fitz and his gang 😭 I was too very tempted to skip to the Tawny Man trilogy...

I don't know what it is about this deep dive into the series (that I haven't read yet) but I love it! I love this kind of discussion, I will definitely check it out!

I didnt love the pacing of books three, but I support the ending. It’s realistic. What’s amazing about Hobb’s writing of Fitz is that it reflects life with such tragic accuracy.
IDK man these characters just get me really emotional
im excited for it all!! but i feel you
I’ve heard such amazing things about this trilogy 👀
I started Robin Hobb last year and i am done with 3 trilogy and 1 quartet. I only have last Trilogy left. And i love Fool , Nightsahade and their chemistry with Fitz so very much. These two characters are just so Marvellous and beautifully and deeply written 💜💜💜💜💜
Also talking about female characters, molly and starling were such an irritating characters. Starling was such unnecessary character i felt. She annoyed so much. Love patience and ketrikan😌😌😌
I didn't enjoy The Liveship trader trilogy .
@@ellias i did the same with live ship Trilogy because can't abandon it in order to read future books. Can't wait to finish the last series
the first 50 seconds have convinced me to buy the trilogy for next month
omg i really hope you followed through with this!!
@@ellias i'm soooo confused there's branden sanderson and then there's robin hobb 😭😭😭
SPOILERS:
Burrich/Molly was just so weird; Burrich was her ex-lovers father figure and behaves somewhat like her father did in terms of drinking and bull headedness.
What presets do you use for your videos and photos?
i use my own color correction/grading haha....basically no set filter, i just play around the settings until i find what i like!
Elias the next two trillogy Installments are going to hit u in YOUR FEELINGS AND STOMACH. Be ready😂
fuck i ain't ready!!
I love this series!
Fingering.
That was hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣
I've been putting off reading the second book for over a year because I've heard so many people complain about how slow and a waste of time a lot of the third book is 😬
I'll come back and watch the Spoiler section of this video one day.
i'll be waiting :)
And we continue with the tradition of making dinner while listening to either Cindy or Ellias talk about books ^-^ ✌ :D ✌
Hello from British Columbia Canada 🍁🌎🇨🇦👍👋♥️
HELLO!!
I will one day buy the series
Robin Hobb is one of my favourite writers
I will have to come back after reading it, and see the spoiler part, I really want to know about why ellias feels like bitch slapping fitz Xd
This trilogy is also on my TBR as a brand new high-fantasy reader. Please also read Patrick Rothfuss' The Name of the Wind! I'd love to know what you think about it because I loved it! .^_^.
if forging does exist in our world, I am well convinced Hobb did it to me.
OMG THIS IS THE BEST COMPARISON!!
yessssssssssssssssssss
regan i just saw this. anyways before i forget:
nighteyes is amazing.
adult fitz needs therapy and jesus.
the fool is the love of my life.
verity is my daddy.
malta fucking sucks ass. hate that lil child bitch.
winrow god......needs to fast forward his development so i can stop reading about his holier-than-thou attitude.
literally kyle and kennit are so annoying i hope a sea serpent eats these chads up.
keffria needs to stop lowering herself to the whims of her daughter. or someone call child services bc malta about to be whisked off into an arrange marriage with an old dude 🤮
*END OF THE SPOILER*
I only read the ones about Fitz (fun fact: the Polish translation is very different to the original, in Polish he's literally called "Bastard Rycerski" which means "Bastard Chivalrous") and I'm not sure if I will read the ones about Ships, but now that you said it's also nice...
Also, especially in Liveships there is a character who might seem familiar (and after Tawny Man you probably already know whom I'm speaking about)😘
The Liveship Traders are also good. It sucks Fitz isn’t in them, but another main character is. I can’t say who for spoilers.
MORE QUEER!!? Frickkkkk i just wanna plow through the liveship trader trilogy now lmaoooo
I LOVE THE FOOL!! PRECIOUS BB
So glad you enjoyed this trilogy! The next trilogy has brilliant female characters - they're the most complex and interesting ones and their journey is epic!
YEeeeeESsssssss!!!!!!!!!!
Spoilers for assasin quest (book 3)
Im pretty sure burrich is still pretty young.
(Don't spoil it I haven't read any of her other trilogys yet
interestinggggg!! i hope she dives into the magic system more into the later books! and burrich being young makes morrrreee sense to me now that he's with molly lmaooo but still i was like....???!! i do NOT see it lmaoooo ewww but now im like.....eh ok. sure.
I loved the first two books so much and then I DNF’d the third book after 50%.
ahahaha naaarrrrr
hello, I am new here so idk if you've read the mirror visitor series, but it has a lot of similarities to the series you described here. The mirror visitor is one of my favorite series for the same reasons you described in this series, so maybe you'll like it if not im sorry lol
🙌FINGERING🙌
ps. lol i hope you remember the jokes you made in this video cause otherwise it would look like a very weird comment😅
idk what you mean you weirdo
jk haha
Just basing on the title and thumbnail, gotta tell ya, WAIT TILL YOU READ THE LAST TRILOGY IN THE REALM OF THE ELDERLINGS. Sorry for shouting, but I love this series, or series of series, so much
I HAVE FINISHED AND I AM DIED DEAD GONE IN THIS WORLD I CANT!!!!!!! LOVE THOSE BOOKS SM

YES MY WORK HERE IS DONE!
Do you have an upcoming live show for Fifth Season?
yes soon!!
Time to wait another month for the government to pay me so I can buy another book series I will postpone reading for another year😊😊
I forgot about burrich and molly too that was messed up.
daddy and daughter time....wait what
Do you read science fiction books? I managed to write one science fiction book.
🧡
I've read the first one but I've yet to continue with the rest of the series
Maybe she likes daddies but she definitely doesn’t like drunks…seriously Molly wtf
Is he tho?
he is!
I’m sorry. But you keep saying Nightshade. It’s Nighteyes first of all. And Chade is a human being and a whole other character.
Now, you may continue (but consider an edit. 😂 😉 Your energy is awesome!)
