OMORI is the type of game that heals you in a way, but shatters your heart if you're already healthy.
Actually it might shatter your heart anyway.
(MILD SPOILERS) Omori is one of the only two games that have genuinely made me cry from pure storytelling alone. Mari and the impact she had on others was so heart felt and it broke my heart when I realized how she died and I couldn't imagine the heartbreak Hero must of felt. Every time I think of Mari and Hero, it always reminds me of my gf and I or even my grandparents who have been married 50 years. Sadly my grandfather passed a month ago and this song pulls on the strings of my heart every time.
I’m sorry to hear about your grandfather. At least he left a lasting legacy of love for his family to reflect on 🤍 I can see how Mari’s story would have such an effect on you. It’s so horrifying thinking of how everyone would have dealt with such a tragedy. Especially from such a pure soul, it just wouldn’t make sense and many people end up blaming themselves in those situations, like Hero.
I’m glad you can keep your grandfather’s memory alive with the music 💛🙏

I love the series. Not just because it's the whole game but the feeling when something you love dearly to your heart suddenly leaves a huge voidless hole. Just typing this already kinda makes me feel depressed a little since I never had that kind of relationship. It's not like that's happening anytime soon*. It goes to show how you should cherish what you have before it's gone. 😅

Remember To Be Patient is such a beautiful song, with such a deep and terrifying message and connection to the rest of the game, showing just how much Sunny has lost at this point in the game, and what he desperately holds onto.

This reminds me of that sadness some, but also how mari loved sunny so much and the love she instilled in all of them, so I know that after the hospital, everything is definitely going to be ok

If you had never heard the song before until now perhaps there are some additional routes in the game you should consider exploring 😁 I did not hear "Remember To Be Patient" in my first playthrough either, but I heard it on the OST and thought, how do I keep missing this song?! Look dude there are not a ton of games that spoke to me on a personal level but Omori was definitely one of them. I loved all the characters, I loved the story and most importantly I love the music, the Omori soundtrack quite literally became the shit I study with. I love your voice, it’s like Mari is singing from a void, which is fitting since she is dead after all.

I don't have the same feelings about omori as I had before, once upon a time I was litreally only thinking about omori it wasn't until 5 months ago I don't know why but I think it is because I'm human and now I cant feel sad for omori as I was before and this really breaks me, how can I even forgot my feelings about omori I say to myself, Once my only thoughts on my mind was omori but now I don't even care about it even though I love this game so much maybe if I give it another try and finish it with starting over :(
I don't think you should feel bad about that at all. I had a period of time where almost everything revolved around Omori, the music, the message, the story, discovering everything about the game. Every interest has its season and when that season closes it gives room for something new to enter your life. Maybe that gap is just that new thing waiting to to be experienced by you. There will always be that space in your life to honor what a piece of art did for you, and that will never be erased from your past as it probably has affected the way your perceive and interact with the world somehow. It can never hurt to enjoy that art once again, but also you don't need to beat yourself up. In a way it's kind of like Mari! There's a time to grieve and remember, and a time to move on and live something new.

I really enjoyed OMORI and the game's story and when the truth was showed to me it felt like a gut punch and the final duet was the same, the scene where Mari saved sunny from drowning and the two of them standing there just for the next frame to be of sunny alone broke my heart
The game did a really good job with the story telling, but something bothers me , we never get to know how Mari feels about all that, the closest thing to Closure on that topic is in the post-credits scene ( in the good ending ) where the "something" disappears behind sunny and basil, if you look closely you can see that the eye on the "something" behind sunny closes, knowing that "something" represents Mari, i can only think of two scenarios
1, That is a sighn that Mari found pace and now she can rest
2, sunny's guilt is gone but that does not inply that Mari is at pace
this game is a masterpice but, if they added a cutscene where Mari said goodbye to sunny like in headspace but in reality, that would have been the best

I think them not explaining or showing Mari's thoughts on the matter is the preferred way for me. I think your feelings on the matter highlight exactly why; wanting to know if someone who is gone is at peace is a common existential problem for a lot of people. It gives us comfort to have some kind of confirmation, but ultimately, the finality of death, at least for those still here on earth is inescapable. Even if Sunny does all the right things and is honest, the consequence of his actions will always remain, living with the unknown of her potential and the unknown of her feelings, if she would ever truly forgive him or not, is a consequence he, and anyone who did what he did in real life, would have to deal with forever. I'd be curious to know if you can see that perspective or would still prefer to see Mari's feelings in the game! I mean...it definitely would be nice just from the perspective of, who doesn't love Mari and want her to have peace?
It really was such an amazing game though, so many emotional moments, and I love how the game gives so much room for the audience to start unearthing conversations about such important topics. Thank you for starting an interesting conversation!

you are right about us not seeing how Mari felt at the end as we also don`t get to see the reaction of the friends to the truth, i think sunny will be forgiven in the end, my opinion is that first to forgive him will be Aubrey, because she almost killed basil, accidentally pushing him in the lake, she will understand that the death of Mari was just an accident, then Kel and finally Hero, who will be the most affected by the truth, because he blamed himself for not beeing there next to Mari when she needed him the most because he thinks that she took her own life, and the fact that they were lovers. On the other hand, i think basil will not be forgiven so easily because it was his idea to make it look like her death was by her own hands, so i think basil will be forgiven in the end, but with his friends knowing that he done what he done, it will be a dificult task, and maby ruin their friendship forever, and with sunny moving out he will be left alone with his guilt.
This game is made to hit you right in the emotions. is about sunny overcoming his trauma (omori) and to redeem himself to his friends so is fitting that we don`t see how Mari felt or the friend`s reaction to the truth

@angel-xu9lh I definitely can see the order of forgiveness being exactly how you mentioned. Sometimes I think Kel and Aubrey could be interchangeable because of Kel's personality being generally so optimistic and him seeing the good side of everyone, but Hero would DEFINITELY be the last to forgive, if at all. But there is a strong part of me that feels that forgiveness would not necessarily be possible or may not even come for decades, especially for Basil.
I think that's the great thing about the..."true" ending I guess is what it's called? We don't get to see the friends reactions, but what we do get to see is Basil and Sunny have a brief moment of understanding, of joint release from the insane pressure of holding this secret.
I don't have any revolutionary theories on the game haha but I really appreciate the battle scene in the true ending. They really highlighted the mental anguish and incredible self-esteem damage that would come with that having done what Sunny did. I can’t even imagine what Basil’s headspace is like 👀 that would be an interesting sequel or game…because I think his choice was way way way worse (just my personal opinion lol) Sunny was in a state of dissociation and panic and took Basil’s lead. I would imagine Basil’s guilt is significantly more unbearable.

basil`s perspective would be a great idea for a sequel or at least a DLC showing his whitespace-blackspace and headspace, showing his side of things, what he thinks of himself, of sunny, and the others (especially the Aubrey bullying situation), why he blacked out the pictures from the album etc. but i feel that if the developer chooses to do a prequel or a sequel (wich is a high possibility seeing how much attention they pay to the game to this day, making game art, merch, anniversaries etc.) they have a few options, before the Mari incident and after the true ending are unlikely, but there is still what happend in that 3-4 years, the friend`s reaction the death of Mari, the friends and basil after sunny moves out, and the basil thing, if you have more ideas fitting of a prequel-sequel or a DLC it would be nice to hear them!
As for the sunny-omori thing, my personal opinion is that sunny beeing a kid at the time seeing all that left him with such a trauma that his mind just refused to accept it, just deleting it, and creating headspace and omori ( i think the name of Mari`s piano was omori, and a litle fun fact, in my native language, romanian, omori means "kill" or "to kill" ) and sunny doesn't remember it, because he is living as omori in the dream world, so reuniting with Kel, Hero, Aubrey and especially basil, he is starting to unearth the memory of what happened to Mari, until he remembers, ( i think that basil was going through the same thing and seeing sunny and hearing that he will be gone started to bring out the old trauma that in the bad and neutral endings he dies by his own hand, from beeing left alone with all that trauma ) sunny after remembering goes to basil to stop him and they fight, sunny passes out and in that "sleep" he fights his trauma "omori" ( if omori wins, sunny throws himself off the roof of the hospital ) if sunny wins he goes to his friends and confesses,
so thats my opinion, what is your opinion ? :))
@@angel-xu9lh Oooh I definitely like the idea of a game that takes place in that “in-between” time frame of the incidence! I think it could easily be similar concept in the sense of Basil having a headspace also, because I imagine he probably would have a habit of dissociating as well. It’s tough though because if you played Omori then you kind of already know what happens. A game where Sunny is grown up and is re-visiting headspace would be interesting too, and then they could go into more of what happens after the true ending. Especially if it’s one of those things where true forgiveness doesn’t exactly happen and they all go their own separate ways. Showing the perspective as an adult would eventually be interesting because naturally the original audience will have grown older and may relate more to an adult-centered DLC/sequel. Maybe that one could be centered around Basil as an adult, especially I think the group would be less likely to forgive him 👀 Would you play a game centered around Sunny or Basil being an adult or nah?
Woah that’s such an interesting connection! No idea if they did that on purpose, but that would be awesome if they did! I agree that Sunny essentially went into a state of denial and mentally blocked everything out in order to protect himself. I honestly think trying to hide everything made it way worse on him than if he would have explained what happened in the beginning. His dad left anyway (and honestly may have picked up that things were being hidden) and the friend group splintered. Being honest about it would have allowed him to have support resources because everything is on the table. I mean there are people who accidentally do things to their kids or family members messing around and most of the time people seem to agree that the lifetime guilt of that happening is enough of a sentence to add jail time (in addition to him being a juvenile!). Ultimately, he does have to accept what happened in order to move forward. It’s a really great commentary on trauma in general because if you have gone through some kind of event that causes PTSD accepting it happened is one of the key factors in being able to move on, and they really illustrated that perfectly with the fight scene. Brains suck but it really is like a warzone in there when you have PTSD of any sort!

Haha no it is not, I did the vinyl sticker with pen and paper and put it on an old record I had that wasn’t in great shape. It’s all for the vibes, but an OMORI record would be amazing though 😩🤞 we can still hope it will be released one day!
