Former ICC Chief Prosecutor Reacts to Arrest Warrant Application For Netanyahu

- Опубліковано 21 тра 2024
- Former ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo and UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese joined Mehdi to discuss the implications of this request, with Ocampo calling it a “game-changer."
Albanese, who previously issued a report calling Israel’s war on Gaza a genocide, reminded viewers that although this is the first time the ICC is taking major action against an Israeli leader, it does not necessarily mark the first time Israel has committed war crimes.
“There were opportunities and obligations to investigate the [Israel’s] war crimes and crimes against humanity … before the 7th of October. The failure we are under is testament to the lack of effectiveness of that system,” Albanese said. “We can turn the tides now, and this is the challenge of all member states.”

Netanyahu should be punished for crimes against humanity
Plus his awful hair transplant comb-over. Just for that alone he should be imprisoned. For his crimes against humanity there should be an even more decisive punishment.

@@martinwhitney9343 thats what ICC warrants are about all those who commit crimes against humanity.
Interestingly if this is true or not I cant verify I read that the Hamas leadership or at least some of them where prepared to be taken to Court if that was the price they had to pay. Felt in direct contrast to reaction of Netanyahu and Biden…… what happened on 7th October immoral but it didnt spring out of thin air it took 76 years of oppression . Dont misunderstand I am not making excuses for violence whatever the provocation it never in my opinion achieves an enduring goal. People have power to promote positive change. The anti apartheid movement and American Civil rights movement proved that. But Peaceful, powerful righteous protest is key then the world swings in favour of the protestors.

I am highly suspicious of leaders who criticise an international court.
Well, we could certainly imagine a situation where an international court has gone wrong, become captured by bad interests, and be causing problems. And in such a situation, criticism would be warranted.
But we're obviously nowhere near such a situation. Instead the critics are clearly warped by their own partisan and flawed politics, and are not even considering the evidence or the facts. And this is what makes their actions suspect.
Says a lot about them . They need investigation as well😢
Those 'leaders' are complicit in and are beneficiaries from the same crimes. US is the VETO Corleone and Israel is the button.

@@ChrispyNutunderstand the quote before commenting as you come across as a uneducated and ignorant individual.
@@ChrispyNut The second part (no peace without justice) is the one echoed by other civil rights proponents and the part King usually emphasized. King had even said before that peace was indeed possible without justice, but only a negative peace.
Thinking about it, he might've mixed the two together on that one occasion in order to relax the status quo forces. Taken on its own, no justice without peace suggests that force can never be the answer for either side whereas no peace without justice suggests that the aggrieved may have have to take matters into their own hands at some point. Saying both together seems rhetorically clever, though if you think about it, they would be contradictory if one of the two has to happen first (which is the main thrust of no peace without justice).
I think it was probably the right quote politically for the time and place (in front of the UN) given what King's aims were.
This former icc prosecutor seems to be slamming Hamas! Why does he not mention and insist for the need to investigate the money the US sends to Israel?
Double standards?
first ending the war, then the other arrest
He was chief prosecuter for many years, but never went after any western war criminal, I think his words are quite meaningless
I agree it seemed like the former prosecuter was slamming Hamas and lack of Israel committing genocide
Hamas alleged crimes, killing and beheading was debunked, as was sexual assaults, so I didn't not understand why the chief prosecuter added those in his indictment
He wears his pro-western bias on his sleeve.
Looking at Hamas's financials would show that Israel, including Netanyahu, provided a good chunk of the money to them, so go for it!

The ICC should sent its troops to arrest Bibi.
If only the ICC had troops...
They don't have troops, they depend on other counties to enforce, if arrest warrants are issued that means that basically Netanyahu is safe as long that he doesn't travel to the 124 countries that abide by the ICC laws.

Netanyahu slams the ICC's request for arrest warrants, why? He reacts the way a guilty person always acts. Netanyahu knows full well he is guilty. Otherwise, he would be anxious for the chance to go the court and prove his innocence. But his only defense is to smear any attempt to force him to face justice. Those defending the Israelis who have been accused of crimes similarly have no defense but to call those seeking justice, antisemitic. These defenders do not want justice they want to be above any law, to have no court or law apply to them or Israel.
