Since moving to the Philippines the contractor who built the house bought and installed Koppel air con units. One Koppel unit caught fire. When that happens do not panic like me, do not try to drown the fire with water from a bucket. That does not work with an electrical fire. The room was an inch deep in water. Simply go outside nearest the compressor and turned the switch off. Also when you build a home in the Philippines, use Hardieboard for the ceiling. If that was cheap plywood in the ceiling, maybe my house burns down. The fire department truck did not arrive for 15 minutes. I tried a Panasonic aircon unit and was not happy with it. I now have two Kolin aircon units in the house, and no problems. I do not know what refrigerant was running in the Koppel which burned.
