Hello Mark. I have a class 15 clone and i just took apart the motor and in the process of cleaning it. But the original brushes did not touch the commutator. They just sat on top of the commutator. They didn’t look bad but I’m changing them because it’s an old machine and the wires need to be replaced. My question is are the brushes supposed to touch the body of the commutator? I’d love to send you a picture.
I have a vintage Brother sewing machine that I was sewing on the other day and the motor just stopped. I decided to take it apart and there were no brushes left only the springs. Would that make it just stop running? I ordered a new motor and also some extra brushes to check my other two machines. If anyone knows the answer please let me know. Thanks for sharing.
terri e Hi, yes that make not working need new brush look almost black chalk, replace new pair brushes both side. Need to spark make the electric spin on the volts. Can found it on eBay or other web for sewing machine. Make sure get right size for your machine motor. Thanks for the comments. There anything let me know. Thanks.
