- Sonic Frontiers has been out for a week as of today and Speedrunners went to work right away on finding tech. This is exactly how I felt when I casually just walked into that area lmao. Didn't think much of it then, now it's literally a skip everyone uses lol.

@@DuelSenseEdgeDrift. they're actually really close, the Frontiers WR is 59:46 and Forces is 55:36 despite Frontiers being a much much longer game!

I managed to get up to the Ares Island boss area when I was just exploring on my normal first playthrough, I didn't consider it to be a skip though! I looked at it and thought, "yep, this is definitely the boss arena, but it probably won't trigger until I get all the emeralds." Had no idea I could've just climbed the tower and started the fight!
Great video Dawn!!! After Em showed us how to do it on stream, I haven't been able to stop having fun with it in my casual playthrough.

There was an alternative way of entering the Titan area (I mean giganto), which was by clipping through the wall that prevents you from accessing that area. The clip is somewhere in UA-cam I forgot where :/
Yeah I didn't include it since we don't know if it will really see use but I will include it in a future video if it does see implementation.

I just joined the frontiers discord, found the link to this video, and was amazed. I'm surprised and yet also kind of not surprised that the game was broken this fast lol. I've been interested in speedrunning frontiers since I first finished the game so this video was a really great introduction 👍

It's not broken, it's by chance and obscure use of physics that glitches like these are found. Just because a game has obscure scenario breaking glitches and stuff does not make it broken. If anything you should be saying the glitch is broken because of what you can do with it.

Great Video, and a very detailed explanation. This game is gonna be a great speed game. Such is par for most sonic titles.
Would be really cool if sega decides to patch emerald skips in a clever way. If the fight triggers sonic perfoms the transformation animation before falling to the ground as he doesnt have enough emeralds to initiate transformation making you fight the boss as base sonic.
Wait… I didn’t even use the puzzle area to get to the boss area… I just… climbed some walls and got lucky, I guess. I thought I was supposed to be there like it was just another area to explore lol
Yeah! It's crazy how easy they made it lol you can pretty much enter it from all sides if you try hard enough.
Honestly my theory is there was meant to be stuff there but they just didn't have the time so they left the upper area unfinished and with no invisible wall.
I was actually thinking of makeing a meme for the hsp where its just an image of sonic saluting with 2001: a space odyssey running in the background... LUL

Shoulda been called the super bounce rather than the DsS Shuffle or Hedgehog Space Program
It makes sense you tap it something I found out quickly is that your boost slows down later on it the boost so you go faster by tap boosting rather than holding it
As soon as I saw good gameplay of this game, I knew that speedrunners were gonna love this game.

Yeah it's something that won't affect casual gameplay and helps speedrunners so I hope they don't touch it!

I knew the moment DsS uploaded that video that this shit would destroy the game somehow, he's just that good at breaking shit lol. I didn't expect super sonic to be a thing even without the emeralds though, that was such a huge oversight by them, assuming players wouldn't find a way to get to the arenas early. Only thing that bothers me are those names for the trick lmao, I wish DsS had named it himself instead of trusting the community to do it.
I actually got to the boss area of the second island too using my own ways when the game launched, but did not know you had to trigger it, so... I climbed the tower for nothing and gave up.

I feel like hedgehog space program is much easier to say an abbreviation as it would be called HSP which would much easier and faster to say than DSSS (DSS Shuffle) or just the normal way, DSS Shuffle.

I personally found that you don't have to go to that exact area on Ares Island (the point with the ball puzzle). I'm pretty sure plenty of other people have already figured this out, but some of the walls bordering the Boss Arena have little areas that you can boost jump off of. I'd imagine it'd shave at least a second or so, but I don't really know, I'm not an expert.
Can you explain the boss trigger? I ca'nt get it to work
@@mechashadow If you look on the map, it should be around the area you'd actually enter through in a small canyon like area. Last I remember, it was around a spring or something, I don't know, it's been a bit since I tried it. You just have to keep running around that area until the music changes. Sorry if that wasn't much help.

oh wow, in my first playthrough of the game i actually reached the boss area in island 2 early without knowing it. crazy to think everything couldve been skipped if i knew about the trigger

The game itself is really polished besides the pop in. But man that doesn’t stop the speed runners from exploiting the game.
Yea it’s crazy because in the later islands they took steps to stop us: Chaos has a Killplane in the Arena, Ouranos doesn’t let us near it. Where these two are actually possible.
Question: will anything happen if you use the DSS shuffle in Kronos island after you’ve completed the game?
It's a sonic game. You're basically speed running a speed run.
Sonic games were made to be speedruns. Glad to see them finally get more popular!
Hedgehog Space Program is way better than DSS
We’ve since reached a middle ground where the Kronos Island Skip is called HSP, since you need the most height. While the general tech is DSS Shuffle.
1:44 why is there 2 gigantos?
If you do the Sequence where Sonic fights Giganto for the first time, for some reason there is a Giganto that just vibes in the boss arena spawned in lol

Sonic frontiers is really good I play the nintendo switch version but I'm getting the ps5 version cause it's that good but I wish they made the classic levels and I mean the ones in cyber space like Green Hill and all the other ones open world I've always wondered what an open world green hill zone would look like

Good thing though is these are almost unnoticeable in game unless you really try to break the game mean the glitches aren't that bad I feel
Yeah! I'm hopeful these won't be patched out since few of the tricks speedrunners use will affect the casual experience. Love when that happens.

wait... this video made me realize that you're not supposed to be able to access the ares island boss arena. i don't remember how i got in there, but i remember running around the area and leaving before the boss. ill have to check my footage to see how i did it lmao

@@ethanjohnson3642 well from the looks of it i went onto a platforming segment that was close to the top of the rocks, jumped on to them, then from there just ran across them and jumped over the ravines until i naturally wandered into the arena. the platforming segment wasnt even that far from the boss arena so im wondering why its so easy? the upper part of the rocks lead right over the gate too. totally wild
